Also Palmer off the roster will allow us to see what Dennis is about Palmer would be in the way due to his sort of seniority! If you want a player to excell you have to clear his path of pot wholes Palmer is just that he would expect to take every snap as usual!

dead money in 2013 for McClain, Palmer, and Kelly means; Freedom amd Victory in 2014, 2015, 2016, 2017, 2018…..

    =====================================================

Again, he’s restructured twice in less than two years. His actual yearly salary is less than 11 million, and the cap hit is Reggies doing, not Palmers.
You guys remind me of Eric Dickerson who wanted to renegotiate his contract every time he scored a TD.

We screwed ourselves keeping Seymour too long; lets not do the same thing again. And that 4M can be thrown towards whatever offer we may have out there for another d-lineman or something that resembles a starting cornerback.
    ———-

Well most of that $4m will need to go to the gaping hole we’ll have at QB, which usually don’t come cheap.

PALMER is holding up the Raiders because he has LEVERAGE, 13+ milllion of it.

He is the best QB option, Pryor is not better, staff knows this, else it wouldn’t even be a decision.

They don’t want to have to draft geno when the Defense is weak and loaded for our #3 pick.

Its obvious, Mark Davis was furious with last year and Reggie’s job is on the line with this QB decision.

He builds a better defense and then run game improves he knows Palmer can easily double the win total to 8+ with the easy schedule.

Save him his job and next season he can ditch Palmer for a QB heavy draft.

    Simple.

Keeping Palmer until draft day keeps us from having to show our hand though.

We cut Palmer now; teams will know they need to trade with Jax to get Smith, plus it keeps us from trading him to AZ.

I’m sure he would take a pay cut to play with Fitzgerald; which gives him a shot at the playoffs in 2013 & 2014.

You are absolutely right on this one. This could go on till July. The longer the Raiders wait the more leverage they get and Palmer digging in like this does not endear himself to the brass or to the fans. His market value is not 13 million per year. If his agent is telling him that he needs to get a new agent. The longer the Raiders wait the less market value he has. I expect nothing to be resolved until after the draft unless Palmer caves. Having him as an option keeps our options more open and increases the value of the 3rd overall pic.

We were 28th in scoring defense. There were 4 teams worse than us. I am not getting how that is historically bad. You have to evaluate relative to comeptetion becuase it is hard to compare different eras.
    ========================================================

2012, supposedly the worst in Raider history. You want to go with 28th in the league, fine. 2011 worst in NFL history for penalties and penalty yardage and awfully bad over and above those metrics. Not era specific IMO.

Why would you throw big money on a backup DT for a 4-12 team who just experienced their worst defensive season in team history.

Comparing Carson Palmer to Richard Seymour is silly.
Palmer produced on the field under dire conditions.
Seymour could not practice let alone play.
    Completely different issues.
Palmer may have a big contract number. So does Dmac.
    Lets try blocking for them.

We will build through the draft and not make the silly mistakes of the past in overpaying for retread free agents.

If you do not have the patience for it, I suggest you follow a competitive college program till 2014.

we can’t afford palmer’s dead cap space if we cut him (9 mil)

…. I would be up for trading him to AZ, Buf, Cle, for a pick or two ie; 2nd/4th, 3rd/a conditional 2014 pick…etc (no dead cap space this way)
    ***************
This is incorrect. 1. The dead money charge is STILL a savings versus his current cap number, and the cap is NOT and issue for us anymore. We have more than $15 mill in space today 2. Trading a player does NOT eliminate the dead money hit. The 9m in dead money for Palmer has ALREADY BEEN PAID TO HIM, it’s just the cap charge that comes due. No avoiding it.

I was arguing against the claim that Raiders had worst def. in history last year just does not stack up. Totally agree with the Penalty agruement that was the most penalized team in history and it is compounded by the fact that many were unforced penalties like false starts and offsides and dumb pass interference calls when not needed to stop a play.

    does anyone remember 2011 ?
we still had a chance to win the afc west with palmolive at quaterback. we came back marching down the field on a game winning drive. and this quarterback who demands 13 million dollars threw an interception that sealed the game.
after the defense fought back and put us in position to win the game.he chokes.
2012 two or three games last year first snap from scrimmage he throws a pick. a few games last year he threw picks at key times of the game.directly to the db. palmolive = jay schoeder. it’s time for the raiders to do something they have done in a long time. that develope a young qb. our own qb. (i know we tried with jabust, but we shouldn’t have drafed him. peterson or johnson was the pick. al didn’t do his homework he just looked at arm strength not IQ.or chracter).
we are in complete rebuild mode. might as well give the keys to pryor or a rookie this year. continue to stack up the defense address the secondary. create a top 10 defense, top 5 defense . and develope our qb to be. that’s what coaches are for.
it don’t make sense to give a guy 13 mill.who has proven he’s not a winner. raider fans need to let go of the old and get with the new. the old way of doing things has kept us out of the post-season for 11 years.

i read alot of y’all bit*@en about RM and what he’s doing. not seeing he trying to do what the successful teams incorporate to have successful organizations. the only way change can work is if you change

    Its borderline delusional.

Just admit you have Palmer Derangement Syndrome. It would be more honest.

    —————-

Oh; I’ll be the first to tell you I’m not like some of these clowns who have such an allegiance to USC football that they can’t come to terms with Carson not being the savior they thought he was. I’m not that guy. I’m the guy that hated the fact Carson was given the job without earning it straight off the couch. Now, did I give him a fair shake to prove himself? Sure. but after 8-18, I’d rather pay his ass 9M to go (a la Steve Francis amnesty style) than watch him another year, especially after seeing the youngster Pryor (who I wasn’t even a fan of at Ohio St) trigger a sense of hope in the fanbase for the next year. Regardless of what anyone says; there is no actual hope and excitement with Carson back. We know what we’re gonna get. Sad as it is; and currently our football state of mind is sad, I’d rather roll with the unknown in an obvious rebuilding year. And hell, hustler’s mentality – make sure it doesn’t wind up costing you more in the future (’cause you never know what can happen if he actually performs); so lets just cut the ties now

I that this page stay very dry with Raider information manly do to the bay area sports media heads are very lazy & anti Raider, So its very understandable why we are so thirsty year after year for positive Raider info instead of the BS we read and forced to comment on week after week… But ..lol.. with that said I swear that some of you bloggers on here are pure unrealistic fantasy world living in idiots..LMAO…

Let me say this one more time:

Palmer will be a day 1 DRAFT end of the round trade for either a 2(rd) & 7(rd) picks OR a 3 & a 4 & a 4 in 2014, to a franchise that is very THIRSTY for a starting QB, like Buffalo , Jets, or most likely Arizona’s or Jacksonville.
    As for..

Tommy Kelly he will be Restructured in order to sign more roster filling ( we do need 53 + 10 for OTA’S)

Mclain and this is imo, this is a 23 24 year old kid, let him bang heads in camp & thru the pre-season, but if he’s attitude nor motivation doesn’t improve, make he’s young dumbass walk the plank by cutting him after the first regular season game so the raiders wouldn’t have to pay him he’s full salary for 2013….
