If you start Pryor or Geno Smith next season Raiders are going 0-16 or maybe 3-13. The same goes for any of the free agent bums out there. With Palmer we could have an 8-8 team, or maybe even, gulp, squeak into the playoffs. But, without him, the Coliseum will be empty next season and we will be a joke. We need him to be our QB for several more years to prevent a total collapse.

    ***

Agreed with ROG. “Worse post ever”

I hope whoever wrote that nonsense goes to root for CP3 on his new team next month. We don’t need fans like this

    ***********************

Only a fkin moron says Palmer will prevent a total collapse….Most at that coliseum want him gone…he is anti-winning….a quitter and known loser….but hey its someone else’s fault…..must be democrats
    *********************************************
So if someone has an opinion that is not too your liking he becomes a moron? There seems to be a faint wavering line separating an excuse and a reason in here. These are all just opinions and as such can’t be proven one way or the other.Pryor starts and we will never know what would have occurred had Palmer started and vice versa. And how does democrat equal moron?
For the same reason?Resorting to name calling to those who disagree with ones opinion hardly flatters one debating skills.

You are absolutely right on this one. This could go on till July. The longer the Raiders wait the more leverage they get and Palmer digging in like this does not endear himself to the brass or to the fans.
    ======================================================

Palmer’s not saying anything. Palmer’s agent is not saying anything. Reggie’s not saying anything. No one in the Raiders Org. is saying anything.
A couple media hacks bored and speculating and suddenly we see a full blown antagonistic contract dispute.
If that’s what we want to see. Because there is zero evidence of it.
    ***************************************

Usually when you hear it is a league source it means an agent is leaking this. Uusally agents only leak if they get the ok from their client. It is possible I could be wrong and Sheffter is not my favorite source by any means but that is usually what is happening.

Why would the agent leak this?

    1. They want to alert other teams that CP may be in play for FA so they keep him in their contingency plans.

    2. They want to alert other teams that Raiders may be willing to trade and they would do a sign and trade deal.

    3. They are angry and frustrated that the Raiders keep asking for salary back.

    4. They are working in league with Raiders to create supsense and uncertainty around the #3 pick. Maybe even the agent does not know this but CP and RM do.

By the way Raiders never say anything about contract issues unless anouncing a change. It has been that way for decades. Agents rarely say anything on the record at this point but will strategically leak and speak off the record to reporters.

  • guest123

You could just name the free agents we could sign that we wouldn’t be able to with CP on the team, ya know??

Raiders agreed to terms with OT Alex Barron.
No word on if a penalty was committed in the process. Barron couldn’t make it past final cuts with the Seahawks last season, and hasn’t appeared in a game since 2010. The error-prone former Cowboy and Ram will turn 31 in September. Something will have gone wrong for the Raiders if he makes the team.

  • Gdog

Wow, this almost creeps me out he is even being considered…

During his five years with the Rams, Barron was the most penalized player in the NFL next to tackle Flozell Adams with more than 70 calls against him. In a 35-0 loss to the San Francisco 49ers, Barron’s poor play resulted him being benched by the Rams staff. Barron became notorious for his false start and holding penalties. In 2009, Barron led the league with 7 holding penalties.
    Dallas Cowboys

Barron was traded from the St. Louis Rams to the Dallas Cowboys for linebacker Bobby Carpenter on May 10, 2010.[3] Barron’s Cowboy career got off to an inauspicious start. In his first game, the Cowboys appeared to have come back from a 13-7 deficit on a touchdown pass from Tony Romo to Roy Williams on the final play against the Washington Redskins on opening day, September 12, 2010. As time ran out of the game, Barron was flagged for holding Brian Orakpo. Because the penalty was called against the offense, the game was over with the Cowboys losing 13-7.

    $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$

I understand that. Focus on the point which is money/ salary/ cap hit.
He is a backup at best but has a $800 cap hit because he is a vet. I rather sign UDFAs who have potential for a lot less, which will allow us to spend more money on better players in FA.

    _________________________________________________

Might be too much Raider-Aid, but the story on Hunter looks promising…

UDFA picked up (surprise) by the Packers…

Played for DA as a rotational player in Denver… (knows DA’s defense)

Highly praised by Jack De Rio during last years preseason and was taking first teams reps before the torn triceps…

Broncos “talk” has talked Hunter up: “Hunter (29) is a 6′-4″, 271-pound versatile defender that has played both defensive end and outside linebacker in his career. The Broncos will likely increase his role on defense in 2013 if Dumervil does not return.”

    Could be a good pickup?

I think Reggie has already improved the defense this season. I just don’t like all these one yr. deals where you’re trying to “build” supposedly, but if these nice acquisitions do well…like you want them to they’ll just be another Des Bryant or Wheeler who all of a sudden want a huge contract that Reggie either can’t afford or is unwilling to pay.

For all the credit Reggie got for getting Wheeler it was just a lucky guess on his part. He didn’t know Wheeler would be that good or else he would’ve signed him on at least a 2 yr deal.

Root for Adams to kick some butt…just hope he doesn’t do TOO GOOD or he’s history.

Walker from Atalnta is a great, great pick-up … a great run stopper and versatile D-linemen.

Haven’t heard one report that that was anywhere near a bad signing, many think he will be great next to Houston.

Nick Roach is a great run-stopper a hard worker and dedicated teamate.

Maiava , another guy known for run support, a 2 down LBer, who likley leaves the field on passing downs.

Burnett over 100+ tackles last year.

Sims run stopper, plugs middle, demands double team.

    Bad signings?
