Raiders used seven draft picks on QBs since 2006

The Raiders have looked far and wide for a long-term solution at quarterback since Rich Gannon retired after the 2004 season. Here is a glance at seven draft picks used on quarterbacks since 2006:

2007 – The Raiders selected JaMarcus Russell with the No. 1 pick of the 2007 NFL draft. He was released after only three seasons and posted a 7-18 record as a starter.

2010 – The Raiders traded a 2012 fourth-round draft pick to the Washington Redskins for Jason Campbell. He enjoyed moderate success in his two seasons.

2011 – The Raiders used a 2012 third-round draft pick so that they could select Terrelle Pryor in the third round of the NFL supplemental draft. He has started one game so far.

2011 – The Raiders traded a 2012 first-round draft pick and a 2013 second-rounder to the Cincinnati Bengals for Carson Palmer. He posted an 8-16 record as the starter.

2013 – The Raiders traded a 2014 fifth-round draft pick and a 2015 conditional draft pick to the Seattle Seahawks for Matt Flynn, who has made only two starts in his five-year NFL career.

This is hilarious. Damn Reggie and his “my guy” crap.

Flynn already has a weak arm. Add elbow tendinitis injury to that= LOL

“Raiders give Flynn considerably more guaranteed money”

“with a maximum value now at $26.4 million over three years. ”

Could be trouble for your boy Pryor!!

If you want to trade for Flynn I get that but why give him more MONEY?

I thought this move was to clear up more cap space apparently NOT TRUE!!!

Goes to show you how bad they wanted to get rid of the loser Palmer.

Reggie is doing a lot of GM’ing

Exactly. This is what Gm’ing looks like. Al just paid people crazy sums of money.

  • Demon Raider

Doesn’t matter. Flynn is gonna be like Kevin Kolb…..

  • RaidO

It seems some of these sports writers and TV guys want the Raiders to fail. Guys like Ian Rapoport hype up and report on the trade but never tell the full story. (Twitter crazy). Love how they all left out Flynn’s elbow problems and how it could effect a trade. Not one peep out of those guys.

    What a joke.

  • Priesttj12

The Pryor worshipers should be on suicide watch they just gave Flynn 24 million dollars which means HE IS YOUR STARTER!

Palmer is still here so not sure why anyone would have an opinion ion that until he is gone Einstein!
    *************************************
You should know by now NFL contracts aren’t worth the paper they’re drawn up on. It’s what’s gauranteed and he still has to make the team for his bonus. We were just on the hook for 15Million for Palmer. Where did that go?

Flynn has to compete like hell to get all that money and he hasn’t shown the ability to hold a starting spot his entire career. In college they gave him the job, he lost. In Seattle they gave him the job and he lost it. He’s used to losing his job and it’ll happen again…period

BREAKING: The Colts agree to terms with former Raiders WR Darrius Heyward-Bey

  • Demon Raider

I’d much rather have Cousins or TJ Yates than Flynn…..

  • Demon Raider

The only good thing is that the 2014 QB class is looking a lot better than this year’s class. Personally, Carr and Bridgewater are my two favorites for next year’s class.

wow crash and burn monumental flop job

the pro carson sult is devastated and deafeningly silent

Herschel Walker trade was far worst.

And Palmer didn’t twist anybody’s arms to make the trade. Dude’s sitting pretty for the rest of his life. And all you can do, supaman, is lob your witless comments.

Reggie wanted Palmer for $10m, told him to take a walk for $13m. It’s called being a good GM, which means knowing where to draw the line. This was a concept that Al never quite grasped.

Thoughts on Logan Thomas, Aaron Murray or AJ McCarron?

Looks like Darrius Heyward-Bey is headed to Indianapolis. Another guy getting just a 1 year deal. #Raiders

    Dr_robert Says:

Riff–u wouldn’t take newton over Pryor? C’mon. Newtons a really good qb. Some immaturity but a preachers kid. He will get it right.

    ———–

Cam has MAJOR maturity issues. And as far as Ive seen, they are not growing pains, but rather character flaws. They are here to stay. He will never reach his full potential if you ask me to bet on it.

I could care less if he’s a preacher’s kid. Kids of heavily religious folks are some of the worst.
