we now have $4.6 mil in cap space & ROMAC is a 6 mil cap hit

in short, he hasn’t been cut yet because we can’t afford to cut him!

    —————————————–

That’s not how I understand it, but I could be wrong. His dead money hit from what I’ve read is about $11 million if cut, which could be spread over two seasons for $5.5 million each. Keeping him on the roster, the 2013 cap hit is about $6.7 million.

To me that says you could free up about $1.2 million in 2013 cap by cutting him, regardless of offloading Dmac or Jano.

Pryor tweeted yesterday…whether you like him or not, its irrelevant. He said, for all those taht said that something can’t be done…son’t jump back on when it happens.
I forgot word for word, but it’s basically an interpretation.
I bring this up because of all the F Reggie, F DA, F this, F that crap! As a fan, yes I am frustrated but some of you are just a piss in the milk kind of guys. Someone mentioned earlier…it’s only April! Let’s give it time guys! And to steal from the man, Thec…

The only reason I do is because people keep trying to pretend our entire roster was in need of jettison. So which is it? What explains our brush with playoffs?

Hue, or the players? That is my POINT!

Flynn’s introduction was about as informal as it gets, a man alone, standing onstage, surrounded by a dozen reporters and a bank of cameras in the team auditorium. There was no sign of the grand exhibitions of past glory – the polished Raiders helmet, the massive black table, maybe even a football – so often associated with news conferences presided over by late owner Al Davis.

Neither McKenzie nor Allen was present, so the 6-foot-2, 225-pound Flynn flew solo.

    couldnt beat out ryan periloux…lol

    ——————————————————-

Dude enough is enough. You also mentioned he couldn’t beat out JaMarcus. Perriloux and Russell were both extremely high rated QBs coming out of HS. LSU out recruited Texas for Perriloux and the whole country for Russell. Miles was under pressure to start those guys.

It’s a testament to Flynn that he gutted it out and stayed instead of jumping ship and transferring. He stayed the course and came to practice and film everyday.

Now Today he is our starting QB and everyone in the league knows it. You need “Google” to help you find where Perriloux and Russell are today.

We didn’t have a brush with the playoffs. With the season on the line the team dropped four of its last five. The team reverted to who it was, which was NOT a playoff team.

This is true. But Perriloux was a freshman Heisman hopeful that got into repeated trouble. That might have cost him more than Flynn.

$7.26 million divided by two = $3.63 mil

Right now we have $4.6 mil in cap space
    subtract ROMAC’s $3.63 and we’ve got 970k

that isn’t enough to sign all our draft picks and fill out the roster with a few vets. We would have to restructure a few contracts and the only big money guys left on the roster are DMAC & Seabass

you see what i’m saying ??

Newman is a fine example of a guy we would have gotten had we not been in such a losing mode. I didn’t care much if we got him or not but Reggie wanted him.

It did? I mean we almost had to TRY and lose those games… if someone had just stuck a hand up and batted down Staffords wounded duck… PLAYOFFS. Or if DHB hadn’t fumbled while racing for a TD… PLAYOFFS.

    All done with horrible players.

Its amazing to me we won a game with the way Raider fans paint those players.

Why not just restructure those two and sign Flynn to a long term contract? Ya know… reward our kicker by assuring he retires a Raider, reward DMAC so maybe he believes he is our RB of the future, and show FLynn that we believe in him??

Instead Reggie cowers in fear… those moves might not work out so PUNT!!

-Titty monkey: I need you to play better.
-McLame: maybe if you coached better and stopped laughing like a hyena after losses and…..ah forget about it. You are not worth it.
-Titty Monkey: what?! What did you say? I’m going to call Reggie…..

  • SilverNBlackPA

I don’t know what’s so hard to understand about this:

Jackson had the team generally playing above its head for the first 10 games of the season or whatever. Good for him, but…

..regression to the mean is a real thing in all sports and it happened those last 5 games.

A bad team with bad players started playing like a bad team with bad players.

I’m cool with that IF we get a second rounder. Looks like Reggie bargains down to 6th rounders for all trades.

Fredo’s (cry and whine) Doc Hunter

Michael’s ( cool and calm, calculated) Charlie

Guess they were all family too. Just like we are……

  • RaiderRockstar

    @Gdog

DMAC is injury prone. Seabass is good, but probably pissed that we let Lechler walk. Flynn has 2 career starts

DMAC & Seabass have “out of whack” contracts. Flynn has all his guaranteed money coming this year – none next year. Basically he’s on a 1-year deal to prove himself or get whacked next offseason.

Why you want all 3 players given extensions is crazy to me. Has nothing to do with Reggie being scared. Has everything to do with him not being stupid

  • RaiderRockstar

Browns release Chris Gocong, Usama Young

Posted by Mike Wilkening on April 2, 2013, 4:34 PM EDT

    AP
The Browns have released linebacker Chris Gocong and safety Usama Young, defensive regulars in Pat Shurmur’s tenure as head coach. Cleveland announced the moves Tuesday afternoon….

Young, 27, started 11 games a season ago for Cleveland, with the bulk of those starts at free safety. He was a 2011 free-agent addition for the Browns.

    ****************************
Should we bring this guy in for a look?
    ——————
Yes. Usama is a good, young player and will be inexpensive. We need as much DB help as possible right about now.

5′11, 195, 4.4 speed. Played solid in his starts last season. Young would be a nice pickup.

    ————————————————————————————————————–

Young was drafted by the Saints and spent 3 or 4 years there under Allen as his position Coach. Might be in play for us.
    ******************************
I sure hope so because then it gives us some flexibility in the draft to not have to reach for a FS but take BPA.

I think we almost always should be looking at BPA in draft instead of needs if possible but if you have a glaring need like we do at FS it might force us to draft someone not at the top of the draft board.

The other thing is this guy actually looks good and is probably undervalued.

Numbers are a little different – I never know who is right on salary/bonus info. They all seem to have thier own numbers.

But it really doesn’t change much. Yes, you have to add in that dead money hit. But his 2013 base salary ($4 million) is currently a factor in the available cap space. So that number gets added back into the cap space when you cut him.

    With your numbers:

$4.6 million – $3.63 million + $4 million = ~$5 million in cap space. It increases your cap space to cut him.

Spotrac said a long time ago it costs us three mill more to cut him than to keep him.

This is one place were DDR (Dumpster Dive Reggie) does the right thing and just keeps him on roster.

How do you know? Maybe Reggie isn’t in the trading of Pryor business. He be dumber than stupid to let Pryor go. He already blew it with Carson. Then Flynn.
