Report: Raiders, Porter agree

By Jerry McDonald - NFL Writer
Tuesday, April 2nd, 2013 at 8:44 am in Oakland Raiders.

The Raiders have reached agreement on a one-year contract with free agent cornerback Tracy Porter, ESPN reported Tuesday.

Porter, 26, played for the Denver Broncos in 2012 and 2013 after playing three seasons for the New Orleans Saints.

Best known for his 74-yard interception return for a touchdown against Peyton Manning in Super Bowl XLIV, Porter was a second-round draft pick out of Indiana . Raiders coach Dennis Allen was Porter’s secondary coach with the Saints.

Porter fell out of the Broncos rotation after issues with medication and regulating seizures limited his availability in October and November.

The first cornerback from outside the organization to sign with the Raiders during free agency, Porter joins Phillip Adams, Chimdi Chekwa and Brandian Ross on the roster.

Hello! Hello! Is this thing on?

Raiders swapped their 7th round pick for Louis Murphy trade with Cardinals 6th rounder. There’s a wee small victory for this year’s draft.

That fat tub of lard shrek got a conditional 2014 7th rd pick from cards if CP starts 13 games. I had it with this F’N SLOB what the F is he F’N thinkin!

“what makes you think a rebuilding buff wants an aging qb, what makes you think kc would take cp over smith especially when smith cost less and why wouldn’t anyone interested not wait till he was cut?”

Logic will tell you that if there are 10 potential landing spots for a QB his value is higher than if there are only 2.

Regardless of Buffalo’s intentions there were a team in need of a QB and 6 weeks ago there were MANY more teams in need of a QB than now….now follow me back to the common sense part….Meaning we could have got more for Palmer if we tried trading him 6 weeks ago.

Is our GM that short sided he cannot see 6 weeks into the future!

He got caught with his pants down no other way to look at it.

We would not get anything for Palmer due to the ridiculous conract he was given by Hue and Mark for a 32 year old retired QB.

    NOT A REGGIE ISSUE.

It had nothing to do with the timing of the deal.”

I am pretty sure it is about the timing of the deal. Which is why even at 80 Al would not have made this mistake.
    ,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,
Oh I don’t know about that. Al made so many mistakes. That’s why we’re where we are right now. Tons of wasted draft picks. HC’s fired every year. Stupid out of wack player contract. Law suites against every body and their mothers. Oh and BTW, who moved us to Oakland and then brought us back to the crap ass OC and that hidious Mt.Davis. YA AL WOLD NEVER HAD MADE THAT MISTAKE.Al rest in peace but you sucked as a owner.

So we get a 6th and lose a 7th this yr. and probably get a 7th next yr….. if he’s healthy. Better than nothing.

I’m all about Flynn and Pryor now. I hope one of them turns out to be our franchise QB.
However, I think Palmer is gonna do really well in AZ and a lot of folks here underestimate how much playing in Knapp’s offense last year had to do with the teams overall struggles scoring the ball.
He’l be throwing to the best WR he has ever played with next year and he’ll have a proven offensive system with Bruce Arians at the helm.

LOL at the dorks that thought we could get a 2nd, 3rd or 4th for Captain Pick! I pretty disappointing. I thought we could at least get a ham sandwich for that dude. Anyway, now we see the true market value of Carson Palmer. Ryan Lindley can go 4-12. Bet he gets beat out by Drew Stanton. Too bad we gave up a 1st and 2nd for eight wins in two years. Marky D. really fcked up!

I get that a lot of people on this blog are down on Palmer, and thats fine, but just one question. Knowing how disabled our offensive game was under Greg Knapp last season, realistically, if Matt Flynn were the Raiders QB in 2012, would he have put up 4,018 yards, 61% completion pct, and 22 TD’s with ZERO running game?

Think about that for a second. Until Flynn proves me wrong, and I’m really hoping he does, I’m sticking to the opinion that we downgraded at QB, majorly. I’m willing to bet that CP has a pretty damn good season with Larry Fitzgerald, as well as Arians coaching over there.

Matt Flynn better be ready. Or he will find out very soon that the Nation is unforgiving to mediocre QB’s.

Raiders now take ZERO cap hit because of trade.
HUGE savings. Getting a 7th AND saving $9 million is a LOT better than having just cut him and owed the 9 mill.

    Smart GM.

BSPN says its a done deal:

Quarterback Carson Palmer was traded from the Oakland Raiders to the Arizona Cardinals on Tuesday in a deal that includes the swap of 2013 draft picks and a conditional pick in 2014.

Palmer, 33, also agreed to a new contract with the Cardinals. The team did not disclose terms of the quarterback’s deal, but league sources told ESPN NFL Insider Adam Schefter that the restructured contract is for two years and worth $16 million. It also gives the Cardinals an out after one year if the situation does not work out. Palmer was due to make $13 million this season.

As part of the deal, the Cardinals sent the second of their sixth-round picks (176th overall) to the Raiders in exchange for Oakland’s seventh-round pick (219th overall). In addition, the Raiders will receive for a conditional seventh-round pick in the 2014 draft if Palmer starts 13 games for Arizona in 2013, a league source told ESPN”.
