Report: Raiders, Porter agree

The Raiders have reached agreement on a one-year contract with free agent cornerback Tracy Porter, ESPN reported Tuesday.

Porter, 26, played for the Denver Broncos in 2012 and 2013 after playing three seasons for the New Orleans Saints.

Best known for his 74-yard interception return for a touchdown against Peyton Manning in Super Bowl XLIV, Porter was a second-round draft pick out of Indiana . Raiders coach Dennis Allen was Porter’s secondary coach with the Saints.

Porter fell out of the Broncos rotation after issues with medication and regulating seizures limited his availability in October and November.

The first cornerback from outside the organization to sign with the Raiders during free agency, Porter joins Phillip Adams, Chimdi Chekwa and Brandian Ross on the roster.

It’s offical, Palmer is now a Card for a 7rd draft pick. I don’t like that he was traded but if that had to happen, great job Reggia at least getting a pick

Basically this is a “Cmon Reggie we KNOW you are going to cut him eventually anyway, here’s a dog biscuit.”

    ***

    LOL!!

true Gdog, but like I’ve been saying.. the Cards don’t want to get into a bidding war for Palmer’s services if he were to become a free agent
    —-

A bidding war couldn’t possibly mean more money that his current contract. If anything AZ got hosed in this trade.

    Al
Blame whoever traded away our high round picks in 2012 and 2013 and awarded ridiculous player friendly contracts to poor performing players.

    It was not Reggie.

So someone was lying because why not play here for 20 million unless players don’t want to play here and Big Al overpaying was really the only way to get FA here.

Too many line holes to fix in one draft. It will take two good drafts to get us compeitive.

    ————————————————————-

    Agreed!

So let’s focus on getting one side of the ball up to speed. Offense is closer than defense. I’d rather work on getting up 26 pts plus per game.

We’d at least be in a lot more games by being able to score points.

We build our defense up, and we keep only scoring 13-16 pts, I don’t see how that translates.

  • The_Judge37

Just be happy we got anything back considering the world knew we were cutting him after the Flynn trade. Should’ve done this before, maybe we get a 6th.

No I have seen you in here for years always a solid person never hating so I owed you an apology.

I need to renew my season tickets but I am having a hard time and its my only recourse to show RM how mad I am.

It seemed like it was OK when people did that to Al Davis but for me to do it to RM I am taking some heat in here probably deservedly so.

  • dr_robert

With two qb’s with a combined three starts in their careers, I don’t think we will draft a rookie (unless Pryor is dealt). We need a vet with starts under his belt in case Flynn goes down and Pryor stinks (probable). Looking at the FA qb’s available I’d go with:

    1) Young
    2) Grossman
    3) Leftwich

They all have whole seasons as starters and have played well at times. They are the kind of guy who could play good enuff to help u win.

Btw, remember how all u Pryor-ball suckers claim his poor performance in week 17 was actually miraculous, given his lack of reps with the ones for two years?

Well how many reps did Flynn ever get with the ones before lighting it up with GB?

No excuses. Just make ur passes.

  • RaiderRockstar

    Palmer gone? check

    who is next?

the only 2 guys on the roster with “out of whack” contracts are DMAC & Seabass

  • Charlie

    Al

You are correct. Palmer is better than Fynn TODAY.

Palmer was not worth what he was going to be paid with the ridiculous contract he was given by Hue (defacto GM).

That is all Reggie is doing; paying for performance.

Play better, win games and get paid more. Seems reasonable.
That is why clowns like DHB, Wimbley, Routt, Huff, Kelly etc. are gone.

Preach it brother! The offense can be pretty damn good with a great line.

The defense could still stink out loud with a great line. We still have Gio as our starting FS in case anyone hasn’t noticed.

    WE NEED A RT!!!!!!!!!!

So tired of the scrubs, year after year.
It needs to be adressed already.

  • qodrn1

Starting to see similarities in the players the Raiders are picking up and the way that the A’s GM handles salary issues. I don’t think this is a coincidence since both play in Oakland. Then again, maybe I need more sleep.

PS. Do the A’s have to open against King Felix every dang year?

  • Charlie

    RR

    Correct.

Dmac is a calculated risk and this is the last year on that deal.
At least Dmac has talent. The injury issue is a big issue but at least he can play when on the field.
The same can not be said for Kelly, DHB, Seymour, Huff, Routt ETC.

No one will give us anything for DMAC so Reggie will roll the dice.

Again Reggie did not award that contract.

  • severeraiderz

At least now people can’t keep saying, ” but palmer is still on the roster”

Cell phones cell Carson was traded for conditional 7th round pick in 2014 to Cardinals. Wow!

Which leads me to believe we are trading Pryor to New England where he can be developed properly and drafting a QB late round.
