I guess when you trade back, and acquire more picks, those players dont get paid??

    LOL..

The savings in trading back is minimal, and not a factor.

    Look at last year.

The Bucs traded down from #5 to #7, and picked up a 4th round pick.

The savings from Blackmon’s contract at #5 (18.5 mil) to Barron’s at #7 (14.5) is literally a million dollars a year over 4 years.

The 4th round pick? They traded it away later, lol

Opinions are like buttholes…RM knows the Raiders don’t have room for gambles and that is what this team can not afford the luxury of another failed 1st rounder.
    ———————–
If Reggie is scared he’s going to screw up drafting high, then he shouldn’t be a GM. He’s supposed to be able to find the best players and pick them if they are available. All draft picks are gambles. I’m not saying Reggie should pick a player at #3 that he doesn’t believe in. If there is a guy he thinks is elite, on the other hand, he should absolutely pick him.

Reggie should trade down if he doesn’t think there is an elite player available at #3, or if he is confident (REALLY CONFIDENT) that his player will fall to where he trades. If he sees elite talent and passes it up for some gambles he feels less confident about, then fire him, because he’s obviously not fit to make decisions.

The Bucs had a boat load of cap space too..

So it would be a stretch to say it was a cap move.

  • http://www.Raiders.com KoolKell

The Buc’s GM is that Dorsey feller from the Wolf tree?

  • Just Fire Baby

The Bucs literally traded that 4th round pick around a bunch of times it is hard to even figure out what they did with it.

Best I can guess, is that they used it to swap in later rounds (more trade downs) to get an extra 5th round pick, which was used on a guy named Najee Goode.

He had as many tackles as I did last year.

That trade down from #5 to #7 was 110% ABOUT SAVING CAP SPACE, and getting the player they wanted anyways, Mark Barron.

  • Just Fire Baby

But again, cap space is not the #1, #2, or prob even the #3 reason to trade down.

But if you like a guy you know will be around in a pick or two, teams trade down, get some table scraps and take the guy they wanted, only they can pay him less.

    Happens all the time.

Same reason the Vikings just let the clock run out on their pick that year.

  • DennisAllensVisor

JFB, I respect your opinion brother.

But that kind of blogging wont get you anywhere near the HoF..

Id like to see if the raiders could trade with miami for thier 12th and 44th and still get a quality dt the likes of star or sheldon if there at 3 imo fischer the right choice move jason to the right and barnes into guard or the bench

  • Just Fire Baby

No opinion there man, them there some facts.

  • da trinity

We are getting more then a 4th rounder if we trade down. U can count on that

Reggie likes more picks, has said so himself. Never mentioned cap space so no idea why it’s coming up. I see us possibly getting Jarvis in mid-rd if we trade back or possibly Milliner. Only if we move back. Otherwise it’s Star or Floyd.

  • The Beeech Diggity Dawg

What’s the deal with Amanda Bynes? Would any of you dweebs hit that?

If we don’t trade down, Fisher has to be the pick

  • rediaR

Just pick Jordan or Fisher and enjoy having a good player for once.

  • raidertbone

I still say that with #3 overall you have to go large — either Floyd or Star (defense) or Fisher or Joeckel (offense). I like Ansah, but see him as a project, not a bonafide slam dunk.

  • dr ice 2012

If we stay at 3 its gonna be floyd or fisher not star

  • Relentless

RR that’s what was said when we drafted Gallery. Safe strong pick.

  • rediaR

Ugh, if we end up with Floyd I’m going to be so disappointed. Especially when he doesn’t even earn a starting position.

Solid idea. Picking players because they are good and they fill actual holes on the roster? It’s so crazy it might just work.

    No to Floyd

yup wasnt the safest pick cant miss ugh

  • DennisAllensVisor

    We’re in a win-win situation.

Get an impact player like Fisher/Joeckel/Star/Jordan etc..

    or

Get a bunch of much needed picks.

Just sit tight and enjoy the show.

    ____________
no way i think he goes 3 tech. walker will be the starter, bilukidi will back him, and although i’d like houston starting there i think da has him inside on passing downs only

i think he’ll get a dt for the rotation but a nt possibly star or hankins given sims shaky injury history

I know. Clearly RT and pass rusher are the biggest holes on the team. Why would we pick a DT #1 without addressing bigger needs, when we’ve already added solid players to DT, that only need some rotational help? Sure they aren’t proven, but neither is the rookie with short arms that rarely displayed NFL skills.

When im saying floyd with the 3rd im going by what im reading and hearing on espn and nfl network i saw a segment on floyd watched him play last year he does blow up the middle but doesnt get to the qb as much as u would like and his lateral isnt that great to plug running lanes i wanna see fisher if there hell bent on fixing the dl how about we try a backstop so many holes there almost anything is an upgrade id go with jordan

gettin their #12 a 2nd a 5th davone bess and a future draft pick is a great option unless reggie’s surefire superstar won’t fall that far

  • DennisAllensVisor

The master plan would be trade back twice.

    First with Miami.

    Then with Minnesota.

Floyd has a highlight tape, but imo not much of an actual game tape. They all have highlights though.

Our D line with the exception of Houston,,,maybe,,,, is filled with Rotational guys. A pass rusher is more effective with a great interior etc… depending on the scheme. In the case of Aldon Smith,,,what did he really do when Justin Smith was hurt. Take a great NT/DT/DE in Star

  • da trinity

What do you guys think about Cal Wr K. Allen if we get a 2nd rounder, looks like he could fall due to his recent “Dirty” drug test.

Every team in the 2012 NFL playoffs had at least 1 starting OT drafted in the 1st round, and of the two teams in the SuperBowl, BOTH their offensive tackles were chosen in the first round….

    GB: Bulga, 1st
    Indy: Castonzo, 1st
Cincy: Whitworth, Smith, 2nd and 1st
Bal: McKinnie, Oher, 1st and 1st
    Hou: Brown, 1st
NE: Solder, Vollmer, 1st and 2nd
Den: Clady, Franklin, 1st and 2nd
Minn: Kalil, Loadholt, 1st and 2nd
    Was: Williams, 1st

If the Jags take Jordan, take Fisher.
If the Jags take neither, flip a coin. Then take Jordan anyway.

    Trade w/ Miami – #3 for #12, #43(2nd), #82(3rd) & 2014 2nd.

    Trade w/ Minnesota – #12 for #23, #52(2nd), #120(4th), 2014 3rd.

    We would have:

    [1] 1st, [2] 2nd’s, [2] 3rd’s, [2] 4th’s, [3] 6th’s, [1] 7th

    Boom.

This team wont be built in a day. I think Jordan is the better player, so I would go there. I also feel better about the later round DTs than I do about later round pass rushers.
