Trade down with Miami at 12 hypothetical:

forget about the scenarios and whatnot. Just assuming we land at #12, who would you want there?

  • Myopinion

Das defense did well with a pass rushing olb.
What is the bigdeal of de to olb.
    Run downs hes a lb.
I like houston type at base de anyway.
Only want houston insde on passing downs anyway.
At 6/7in the nfl all he would need is rookie year to bulk up anyway.
Im not a scout but with that speed, guickness, and crazy long arms, and a pass rushing desire.
When asked on nfl net. Whos your fav player.
He says I like guys who get sacks.
Dont forget hes only been on d, 2,3yrs
    A te his whole life.

Do u expect jordan to be high on t.f.l. But oregon scores 60 pts a game, how many defensive plays can there be.
Also noted,he was not a base de.
    But instead a specialized linebacker,
On running plays he was more lb.
Reason hes my favorite pass rusher.
is he doesnt become elite rusher, he can fall back on being a good covrage lb,and blitzer.
Hes a player when the qb gets to los, he has to locate him
    ******************************
Oregon plays an up tempo offense. The Def. is on the field a lot. They sometimes score in 3 play drives or go three and out a lot. Teams throw a lot on Oregon as well later in games trying to come back. Simply not true about Oregon having ball all the time. As a Beaver I know this all too well. Teams try to run early and then pass late.

If we want to draft potential based on athletic ability then we need to draft Lemonier and save the 3rd pick for another option.

    Werner……..Good, but not elite speed
    Lacks some explosion
Probably not athletic enough to play in space as a 3-4 outside linebacker
May lack the agility to rush standing up in the NFL
    ;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;
Ansah would be better at DE. Jordan has the speed to cover and chase down the RG111′s of the world.

Reggie went with a defensive head coach. In order for the guy he hired to start getting the job of turning this franchise around, he knows that to build a strong defense, he must stop the run. Stopping the run begins in the middle of the line, not with linebackers, not with the secondary. You can’t stop a team from getting 3.5 yards a carry in a series, they can give it to the rb all day and a great secondary won’t help you. You don’t have a presence inthe middle of your D-line, you diminish the strength of even a very strong LB corp.

Reggie is, like any newly-hired GM, being evaluated onthe basis of the people he has hired. It’s as important to him that his head coach suceeds as much as any player he adds to the roster.

I say he goes run-stuffer as long as health is not an issue. Remember that a D that gets off the field quickly gives even aless than exception offense alot more chances during a game. Since we have a new qb and I don’t expect our offense to put up Air Coryell/Fouts-like points and since I do believe RM believes his head coach can do a lot with some defensive talent, I think RM goes MAN in the MIDDLE.

    Autumn raider,
I meant if you have time to score 60 pts a game, your d has to be getting u the ball back pretty fast.
Im aware oregon would score ligtning fast.
Theres no tfl on throwing downs. And when your down 21half a quarter in the game.tfl arent possible.
If u wanna knock him,do it for sacks, but then ill say that wasnt what they had him doing

03/06/2013 – 2013 Auburn Pro Day: Representatives from 15 NFL teams gathered at Auburn’s pro day on March 5. A total of 10 players worked out indoors on FieldTurf. Corey Lemonier, DE (6-3, 255) – Lemonier stood on most of his numbers from the NFL Scouting Combine (he posted the third-best time for defensive linemen in the 40 – 4.60 seconds). He did do the vertical at Auburn’s pro day, jumping 34 inches. Lemonier did position drills led by Pittsburgh Steelers linebacker coach Keith Butler. – Gil Brandt, NFL.com
    More *Corey Lemonier News
    OVERVIEW
Although he didn’t start as a true freshman, Lemonier was a valuable rusher off the bench for the Tigers National Title team in 2010. He became a starter as a sophomore in 2011 and set career-highs across the board with 47 tackles, 13.5 tackles for loss and 9.5 sacks. Lemonier jumped out to a quick start in 2012 as a junior with five sacks over the first four games, but he managed just a half sack over the final eight contests in an otherwise forgettable season for most of Auburn’s players.
Lemonier is able to beat tackles with his speed upfield and in pursuit, showing the vision and agility to weave through the trash. While possessing some exciting traits, he has some flaws with some stiffness in his upper body, lacking the functional strength or lateral agility to beat blockers once engaged. Although he struggles to shed blocks, even by tight ends and running backs, Lemonier shows excellent effort and the NFL is always looking for talented pass rushers with upside.

    ANALYSIS
Strengths: Quick off the edge and the type of rusher than can only be contained for so long. Blend of sped and power to penetrate the pocket and pressure the quarterback. Flashes raw power at the point of attack with a sharp punch, appearing stronger than in past years. Has experience dropping in space and has been given coverage responsibilities. Never quits in his pursuit and is tough to stop, can only hope to slow him down. Ferocious hitter and looks for the knockout blow. Will line up as a stand up linebacker and rush from different angles.
Weaknesses: Still developing his run awareness and technique. Needs to improve his discipline in space and better understand his surroundings. Too often overpursues off the snap and can be overaggressive, taking himself out of plays. Inconsistent snap anticipation and needs to cut down on the offsides penalties. Will get hung up on blocks and hand use in the trenches still a work in progress. Needs to consistently finish once he gets his hands on the ballcarrier. Disappointing second half of 2012 and played down to the level of the rest of the team.

Draft this freakish athlete who played the game more than a few years in the 3rd and draft a DT Star in the 1st.
Oakland Raiders = best DL lol (J)

  • Irish Boozer

I will be so mad if we take Floyd. It will throw a wrench in the spokes of the whole rebuilding process. That guy won’t be anything other than servicable in the nfl. He will not be dynamic, he will not be explosive. He will post very pedestrian numbers if he is counted on to be “the guy” on a defense. A pass rushing DT? Give me a break. He will be totally nuetralized by a double team, and that wont even be necessary for some teams to neutralize him. A good DT should DEMAND a double team every time, and still create a strong push up the middle, thus freeing up the LBs and other lineman to get to the ball carrier/passer. Floyd would get shoved aside by an nfl double team. Draft Star or trade back for Warmack. Forget Floyd. Let some other team make that mistake. A few years back the Bucs drafted “pass rushing DT” Gerald McCoy at #3 overall because they bought the media hype. Check that guy’s career stats in the nfl. He averages 3 sacks a year and struggles against the run. No thanks!

Draft Star or trade back for Warmack! Or do any-damn thing-else other than drafting Floyd!!!!!

  • guest123

Why is the top of draft like some sort of smelly fart everyone is trying to get away from? Seems like everyone wants out of the top ten. Smells fishy to me. A bunch of posturing to see if they can sneak into the top 10 on the cheap. For instance, though it’s reported that Miami wants to move back, I’d not be surprised if they still move up. Even if it’s not for a tackle. These next couple days are gonna be nuts with so much smoke and mirrors action going on.

Will be extremely hard to find a trade partner, with each passing day more and more teams are looking to trade down. No team wants to give up their 1st & 2nd or even 3rd rounder for an OT, DE, DT or this year’s QB class.

  • http://www.raiders.com Raider O

    1- DT Star
    3- DE/ OLB C Lemonier
    4- DE/ OLB B Jenkins
    6- TE J Fauria

2 starters at DL, a nickel rusher, and good competition at TE.
