Someone please explain to me how a CB in today’s NFL with 5 surgeries and a metal rod in his leg is projected to be a higher pick than a skilled and powerful DT?

Sports Science had that? Really? Oh now I’m convinced!

KC could have already locked in their pick. Makes me think they still might want to trade down.

It looks to me like the consensus pick from the blog is Star Lotulelei, he’s the one guy who nobody seems to have problem with at 3, me neither.

As I said earlier in the week,Star could be a mix between Ngata and Suh, maybe not as good as them but a more complete player than both, better pass-rusher than Ngata and better run-stuffer than Suh.

Star drawing consistent double teams from the inside gives DA a huge strategic advantage.

And if Reggie were to pull off a trade down and get him a couple of picks later while adding an extra pick or two, this day will be a smashing success.

    ********************************************

There is definitely no consensus on this blog. That is one thing that makes tonight so exciting.

    Mingo:

What I love about this kid is his edge ability. I don’t care if you line him up wide with his hand in the dirt or stand him up at linebacker — he’s one of the most explosive edge players in this draft. Do I think he’s ready to compete in the run game? No, but I really love this kid coming off the edge, and in that 3-4, that’s what you need. -Mayock

sounds like Derrick Burgess. Attacks the QB, but massive fail in the run dept.

We can get players like this later in the draft. Remember Trevor Scott?

no. best and safest picks in the draft are the OT’s.

and he will have a major impact on the offense. in the run game and the pass game.

biggest immediate impact of any player on the board outside of possibly ansah.

    ——————–
Hype machine. SEC school. Same reason the major outlets pick Floyd over Star for us, while lesser known blogs and sites have it the other way around. The players with the machines behind them will always get the draft benefit, we see it every year. Thats why its important to have a GM and scouts that do their homework. Hopefully, we have one. No one that watched football last year thought Floyd was better than Star. That nonsense started and ended with Mike Mayock. He was the first to put that out there, and after that, copy cats took notice.

Milliner being rated over Star is a complete joke. Nothing but a popularity contest for a player who played for the National Championship. Hes good, but his young body is already hit, and its not like he has the supreme coverage skills youd expect from a top 10 CB prospect. Hes no Haden. Actually, I still believe Marcus Trufant will be the top CB in this draft. His skill level is just that much better than Milliners, based on everything Ive seen.

I get everything youre saying. We just always have to watch out for the hype machines this time of year, from schools, other teams, and agents.

there’s a reason why we signed three new LB’s to go with burris.

that’s one reason why i think ansah might be the guy. fits well as a RDE in a 4-3 or 3-4.

I like this scenario because Oakland probably will have picked up at least a 2nd round and 3rd round pic and still get Star (if they want him). If Raider scouts are that high on Mingo then so be it. At 9, Richardson could be in play if they have him higher on their internal Board than Star as well. Mingo seems more 3-4 and not that versitile to me (i.e. not a system fit) but we shall see.

I have not seen an article yet that attempted to Piece together what Oakland’s board might look like.
