Raiders trading down?

Several reports mention the Raiders as the team being targeted by other teams interested in moving up in the first round of the NFL draft’s first round today so that they can get their hands on Oakand’s No. 3 pick.
It’s important to note that none of the reports cites named sources and that Raiders general manager Reggie McKenzie gave no indication Tuesday in a news conference whether he wants out of No. 3.
Of course, it makes sense for teams to call the Raiders because the Raiders are in dire need of adding a slew of players to a roster in the midst of a major overhaul, and not just one top-teir guy.
Teams mentioned as being interested in trading up to No. 3 include the Detroit Lions at No. 5, the Cleveland Browns (No. 6), the Arizona Cardinals (No. 7) and the Miami Dolphins (No. 12).
The thinking goes, the Browns and Lions are high on Brigham Young defensive end Ezekiel Ansah and the Cardinals and Dolphins want to make sure they get one of the three offensive tackles expected to go within the top 10 — Luke Joeckel, Eric Fisher and Lane Johnson.
If the Raiders bite, they surely could recoup a second-round pick, which they are without as a result of the trade for quarterback Carson Palmer in 2011, and possibly more, especially if they get multiple teams vying for the third pick.
McKenzie said he has a pretty good idea on which player the Raiders are going to get at No. 3 if they opt against a trade down. He just might be able to get a comparable player at, say, No. 5, No. 6 or No. 7, as well as one or more additional picks in this year’s draft.
So, let the speculation begin, as the first round nears — it starts at 5 p.m. PDT — and McKenzie’s time for contemplation runs out.

Loved hearing Casserly say last night, that he has heard from MULTIPLE SOURCES that Floyd will NOT be the pick for the Raiders at 3.

    Good to hear!

    Lol!

You picked half the projected first rounders.

No matter who Reggie picks you’ll have the kid in Canton before he ever plays a down and you will be foolishly proclaiming Reggie is a genius for selecting the sure fire future hall of famer.

    FIRE REGGIE NOW.

    ==========================================

I merely stated eight players I’d be happy with Reggie taking today.

Eight is not half of 32. Learn your math, please.

Now, do as we’ve told you and give us a name or names you’d like. If you don’t, then you have no right to whine.

Red Hot Baby… “Long shot to keep the pick”

Where do these guys get this stuff? is this buzz from Agents talking to one another?

    From RotoWorld:

NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport reports the Raiders’ pick at No. 3 is “red hot” with trade action.
The rest of the NFL seems to have determined Eric Fisher and Luke Joeckel will be the Nos. 1 and 2 picks. That would leave Oklahoma’s Lane Johnson as the consensus top tackle left, and he’s known to be coveted by not only Arizona but potentially Detroit and Baltimore. If the Raiders sit at No. 3 — which at this point seems a long shot — they’re tentatively expected to draft Sharrif Floyd.

Between Brisiel’s ankle healing and Bergs and Nix each having a year of experience, we’ve got at least two decent guards.

OTOH, our defensive front seven has a lot of complementary role players but no playmakers the opposition fears. That’s where Reggie needs to concentrate his efforts.

    Hunter

Do not think you are a racist but wonder who you like in Draft. Maybe a fast CB like Al is the Raiders? Maybe a freakish project at #3 overall like Anash or Johnson that had good combine? Or do you think we should trade up and actually not get the player we are targeting?

Those are all AD classic moves over the last 15-20 years.

Between Brisiel’s ankle healing and Bergs and Nix each having a year of experience, we’ve got at least two decent guards.
    —–

If they allowed Bergstrom and Nix to play together and only count as 1 out 11 on offense, they still wouldn’t equal ONE Decent guard.

Hunter won’t tell you. He doesn’t want to close off any of his hating options, you see.

And i’m not even going to start on Brisel’s mystery ankle injury. Sounds like Gio’s going down and clutching his knee everytime he gets beat.

Bergs and Nix both looked OK in the final game vs San Diego. And now that we actually have a competent o-line coach instead of that idiot Frank Pollack…
