Raiders get their pass rusher with final pick

The Raiders selected Missouri Western defensive end David Bass with their final selection in the three-day, seven-round NFL draft.
Bass, 6-foot-4 and 262 pounds, set school records with 39 1/2 sacks and 50 starts during his four-year career. He was regarded as the most consistent pass rusher in the East-West shrine game.
The Raiders entered the draft without a legitimate pass-rush end. Bass gives them the potential to solve that problem right away.
Bass started 12 games as a freshman, so he showed that he doesn’t take long to adapt to a new challenge.

this no where near an al draft…reggie owns it and the spectacular failure that comes from it! quit running from that fact….

    ===========================================

Unbelievable. Reggie even drafted a CB in the first round, just like you wanted. And still it doesn’t make you happy.

Al Davis was all about HWS and he will mold them into footballers. Case in point, Stan Routt and DHB. RM goes for HWS but his guys produces in college too. Most of them anyways.
    ====================================

    A lot of question marks.

….with sure hands and a running style he compares to that of Vikings standout Adrian Peterson….

    slow down there big guy

So just got home and scanned through about 9 hours of dvr recordings of today’s draft.

Both networks went to commercial nearly every fking time the raiders went on the clock.

I didn’t see one segment regarding the raiders.

    Fk u nfln and ESPn!

    What a joke.

  • Raidernationdave

    Reggie’s da man!

this is a d draft….no other way around it….agreed lots of projects but it is soley shreks baby….he changes the diapers on this one, no excuses.

Great Draft. period. End of story.
Now lets grab some bodies as UDFAs.

I just don’t understand why so many projects when solid starting caliber players were there.

    Missouri Western the powerhouse

i like the first pick…but thats it, brice is a good attempt but nothing more. its not eurpean soccer why draft them?

Final Judgement until they play on the field. The game is never won on paper.
Let the man do the job.

  • aig-raiders

    Seymour Bush,
Hayden had production and ranking. So did Moore. Even our last pick was tops in his league. You can’t say that aobut AD picks of the past. Did DHB ever make 1st team in his league? NO. Even Bilukidi had production in his league.

Even Mike Mitchell had the HWS but never made 1st team in his conf. That’st the diff with RM and AD.

What have the Raiders done to deserve coverage?

Reggie rules! It’s a new era for the Oakland Raiders! Praise the Lord!

  • Raider Bong

i think reggie and the raiders are picking “project” guys as some are saying, because reggie has belief in his coaches, and the players have the capacity to be coached as well as having very high upsides. im excited about this draft, in particular latavius murray.

I like those picks. I like Tyler Wilson. I like Bass. I thought the trade down in the lst was a good decision. And you can sit Hayden behind Jenkins and Porter and make sure he is healthy and ease him in. But Watson in the 2nd? That was crazy. And I mean Crazy Al crazy. And the later picks? Lots of projects.

  • http://000 Bob Marley

I just started looking at our picks and man I am loving this draft.

Athletic players with plenty of potential to develop.

    Reggie, great job.

And yes, Al’s tradition of drafting gifted athletes and size-speed prospects remains, but Reggie is probably digging a litte deeper into these kids than Al was willing or able to as he got older and started to lose his health and energy.

See u guys tomorrow or monday once the dust has settled.

As of now Reggie gets an A- from me on this draft.

That’s right. DRAFTED IN THE 6TH round and MADE the roster as well as playing times without being Al Davis’ pet, unlike AD projects (DHB anyone)

Watson gave up one sack all year.

    He’s pretty good.

Well put. I am most excited about Sio Moore and his pass rushing capabilities as well as the possibility of having a decent RT for a change.

Face it,Reggie could have drafted the pundits popular picks the whole draft and certain people on here would keep saying it sucked. They are here to hate the Raiders and anything about them.

Guess we got reggies future qb.

    Hope Pryor is renting.

  • beach

You will love DJ Hayden come September. Remember!

  • Kirk

The way I look at this draft, we picked up a cornerback, an offensive tackle, and a linebacker. The rest? Who knows.

But we got rid of Gregg Knapp, Rolondo, Tommy Kelly, Palmer, and DHB. Addition by way of subtraction.

    LaTransient Murkowski. ROY. Book it!

Reggie definitely swung for the fences this year the same way Al used to do; only time will tell who was a better swinger.

Watson made first team ACC and gave up 1 sack in a big time Div 1 football. What is a headscratcher about that one. The kid has 2 yrs of football and already held his own against the best of college football.

Moore dominated in his conf, east west and sr. bowl. About the only guys that didnt have production are the DT from OK and Butler but they are late round gambles. Nothing like rolling the dice on Mitchell and Houston in the 2nd round.

  • branden.w

I wonder which UDFAs we are calling first?

Hayden is our starting corner. Anyone that thinks he is sitting is fooling yourself.

That rb will certainly look good coming off the bus lol. Hope he is the real deal in short yardage and goal line situations.

Guess ausberry and Gordon better look out with Reggie loading up with tight ends.

NFL.com gave Watson a draft grade of 85.0

Here’s their description of grades 85-95.

“85-95 Immediate Starter Projected Round 1
An impact player with the ability/intangibles to become a Pro Bowl player. Expect to start immediately except in a unique situation (i.e. behind a veteran starter).”
