Raiders helping local players with football fundamentals

By Steve Corkran
Tuesday, May 7th, 2013 at 1:58 pm in Oakland Raiders.

On Wednesday, several Raiders are scheduled to work with local high school players at Laney College as part of the NFL High School Player Development program.
Center Stefen Wisniewski, defensive end Andre Carter and cornerback Chimdi Chekwa are among those that will work with players from: Alameda, Bethel Christian, Castro Valley, Encinal, Fremont, Oakland, San Leandro, James Logan, San Lorenzo, Piedmont, Skyline, Tennyson and Sacred Heart Cathedral Prep high schools.
In other news, the Raiders rookie mini camp takes place Friday, Saturday and Sunday. The media are allowed to attend Saturday.
At that time, we will provide you with updates on how the new players look, as the coaches get their first look at the 10 players selected in the NFL draft last month, as well as the numerous undrafted free agents signed.

I don’t get the whole DA isn’t fiery enough and he looks like a weeny comments here. Sounds like an agenda to get rid of him no matter what he does. If he says yes, many say no.If he says no,many say yes. Not logical to want to fire a couch after his first season. Didn’t work for Al and it won’t work for us.
    ************************************************
This much I can agree on, so why did he do it? Hue had one season and went 8-8 yet fat boy fired him. Because he didn’t select him so why do you think he will be different for players? Huh?
    ========
I see you have selective memory.
Hue got canned because he stupidly stated to the world that not only should he be in total control, but expected to be in total control.
    Everyone grasped that.
The fact that Hue hasn’t gotten a sniff from any team as a HC reaffirms it.
It was Hue that cost this team because of his suspect trades. His benching of players, while lying about it. His poor game management.
Good riddance to the prima donna.
    *************************************
You forget Hue is black and they rarely get a second sniff. Lovie Smiths’ still waiting. So it means nada also stop lying on the man he never demanded a damn thing he said he wanted it but never said he demanded it. So sell your crap to someone else thanks.

If it was Hue who cost the Raiders than how did he go 8-8 with virtually the same team DA took to 4-12?

Stands to reason with that incompetant buffoon gone a new HC would not only match his record but take that talented team to the next level.

That’s his damn GM’s fault and I couldn’t care less what excuses you make we went 8-8 back to back years and he comes in we go 4-12. I don’t give a damn about the why’s I care about the wins he sucked and demoralized the squad he can’t coach worth crap as far as I’m concerned. I’ll take Hue over Reggie and DA in a NY minute.

The Raiders could have made the playoffs for the first time since the 2002 season with a win, but instead they failed to force a punt and were beaten 38-26 by the visiting Chargers. Instead of following his usual routine of showering and clearing his head before meeting with the media, Jackson went directly from his meeting with the players to his session with the media. He prefaced his remarks by saying he accepted responsibility for the team, said he accepted responsibility for the club’s performance, but then appeared to quickly distance himself from the players.
“I’m pissed at my team,” Jackson said. “At some point in time as a group of men you go in the game and you can say whatever you want about coaches, [but] you win the game. Here’s your time. Here’s your time to make some plays. We didn’t get them stopped and we didn’t make enough plays. Yeah, I’m pissed at the team. Like I tell them I always put it on me, but I am pissed at my team because when you have those kind of opportunities you’ve got to do it, and we didn’t do it.”

Everyone says I want to see progress in my HC. Hue had the same record as Cable and missed the playoffs again. He makes a trade that will live in infamy and whines about the officiating and then get pissed at his team and publicly throws them under the bus. Hue is a good OC but didn’t have the psychological makeup to be a HC.

  • DJ Johnny

I don’t believe Hue was losing the locker room. There’s no evidence of that except for the losing at the end. In fact, i’ve never heard or seen a negative quote in regard to Hue from any of the players, but I have seen ones where they praise him. You’ll find many of them in the week leading up to Cincy game.
Some of said “well players don’t wanna burn bridges” or “out of respect they wouldn’t come out and rip him like that”. That may be true, i’m just sayin there’s no evidence of Hue losing the locker room, and if losses are evidence of losing the locker room, than DA lost em pretty quickly.

  • The_Judge37

Yes Hue had his faults, so did Tom Cable. Our problem is that they were both better as HC and more qualified than Dennis Allen.

  • DJ Johnny

IMO that POS defense deserved every bit of Hue’s vitriol.

The fact a HC said he’s ‘pissed’ at their effort is not throwing them under the bus. I thought he went easy on them.

The last thing that team deserved was any sort of praise for choking away that last game.

Hue included himself in the blame. Read the transcript.

It was just a bad situation and a frustrating one with the playoffs barely eluding them.

I’ve heard much worse from coaches after a tough loss and bad end to a season.

  • SnBG

Hues Raiders lost a game to the Detroit Megatrons on Sunday that defied logic, a game with defensive lapses in the final quarter that left many calling for Defensive Coordinator Chuck Bresnahan’s head. Not surprising, for two reasons. First, the Raiders gave up 80 points combined to the Dolphins and Packers and came into the Detroit game as the worst team in the league in terms of yards allowed per carry (5.2). Second, it isn’t a good look when the road team’s allowed to complete “three flies up” passes to Calvin Johnson, the best deep threat in the league.

However, Jackson had some interesting decisions of his own against the Lions. Going for it on 4th-and-1 in the 1st quarter from Detroit’s 24-yard-line is the kind of move statisticians love, but the overthrown pass down the middle — a pure go-for-broke move — was an unnecessarily risky play call. Then, with the Raiders nursing a 6-point lead with 2:27 remaining in the contest, Jackson called for a deep pass to the right side on 3rd-and-3, even though the drive up to that point consisted of 5 strong Michael Bush runs for 37 yards and the Lions only had one timeout left.
Bleacherreport article at the time of that loss

  • The_Judge37

    847. Nice that you fully blame Hue for Chuck Bresnehan’s defense but can blame 4-12 on Knapp instead of Allen.

No, Hue didn’t have the Psychological make up to be a HC. He panicked when JC went down and got Palmer in a trade that so many posters here still complain about. He should have stayed calm and thus preserving the draft picks.Tom Cable, lets see. Didn’t he smack one of his assistants? and wasn’t there something about him hitting he wife??????Good example for the team.

    ——–

Yes he did, and the Team loved him for that. Remember “Cable Bumayae!”. And besides, he’s not there to be their role model.

What kind of Example did Allen set when another HC runs up the score on him and he just looks down at his shoestrings?
