Raiders draft picks assigned jersey numbers

By Steve Corkran
Thursday, May 9th, 2013 at 12:50 pm in Oakland Raiders.

The Raiders selected 10 players in the NFL draft in late April. On Thursday, those players received their jersey numbers in advance of the rookie mini camp this weekend.
Of note, defensive tackle Stacy McGee received veteran defensive tackle Richard Seymour’s old number, which throws water on the possibility of the Raiders re-signing Seymour.
Also, linebacker Sio Moore now is wearing the jersey number sported by middle linebacker bust Rolando McClain the past three seasons.
Here’s the complete list:
CB D.J. Hayden — 25
OT Menelik Watson — 71
LB Sio Moore — 55
QB Tyler Wilson — 8
TE Nick Kasa — 88
RB Latavius Murray — 34
TE Mychal Rivera — 81
DT Stacy McGee — 92
WR Brice Butler — 19
DE David Bass — 51
Those 10 players, as well as the 14 undrafted free agents and eligible first-year players are expected to participate in the three-day mini camp that begins Friday. The media are allowed to attend Saturday, at which time we will post several stories and Tweets.

Having a 2-14 team kinda makes it hard to get blue chip free agents, even with 70 mill in cap space. Especially with Reggie refusing to pay over market value…

    __________
terence newman said he was offered more by the raiders than cincy, briesel got a nice chunk of change, so did branch

  • dr_robert

55 for sio means they feel confident in him. No way they let two busts in a row wear that number.

Bass apparently will be an OLB.

Butler no guarantee with 19. That’s a camp guys number.

  • papertiger418

How great would it be if Dwight Howard and Chris Paul switched teams? Now that Stern’s on his way out, anything is possible!

  • papertiger418

    …..Apparently not so great.

Not sure why Reg would want to spend over market value.

  • SnBG

Need some wins and preferably a one playoff or further run – these guys have to turn it around or I fear it’ll be even worse next off season.
    ;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;
I think we are looking at 6-8 wins this year.

  • alex7

absolutely 6-8 wins, max. Everything is being prepared for 2014. Cap room to sign keepers that surprise this year, high 1st round pick in QB-rich draft, youngsters PLAYING at WR, RB, QB, TE, OLB, and CB…

it’s exactly what a legit reboot should look like.

6 wins if mcFadden plays all 1

As long as the 8-10 losses are hard fought and not blowouts failures to show up types I would be okay with that.
Nation just wants a sign. A real sign from the field that we are laying a foundation that can be built into something special…

Would have been 9-7 with Palmer.

I’m not judging this team until I see them play. I’m not even counting out playoffs. How do we really know? Does it look good on paper? No; but how many years did we look good on paper and stunk it up during the season?

Not trying to sound delusional, just saying “that’s why they play the games”.

We started to see hard fought games last year. The players were playing hard and with discipline even in the face of a losing season. They knew it was a new regime and half arse performance would not be tolerated.

I liked Palmer as a passer, but you have to know if we kept his $13 million salary, many of the guys we signed on D wouldn’t be here this year, so wouldn’t expect 9-7 with that skeleton crew.

He’s turning 34 this year too, and we’ve seen what age does to solid but not great QBs (Rivers, Vick, Hasslebeck, Romo).

For the team’s sake I’m hoping DA grows as a HC in 2013 and proves to Reggie and Mark that he is the man they want leading the franchise in 2014 when we have a ton of money available and a full draft class to upgrade the roster.

    ————————————————

Unfortunately, a lot of these “fans” are hoping to see him fail.

This is not true, most of these if not all were hoping he was outstanding however HE proved to be very underwhelming and at times incompetent. No one wanted that and no one wants it. WE all want a great coacjh how can we help it if HE is NOT!

Is it just me or is the Nfl a little slow on increasing the active roster now that concussions are being properly (more) diagnosed and players held out?
I think 50 active and 60 total helps that a LOT!
What’s that take a few extra mill? A drop In the bucket…

  • Priesttj12

I don’t think there is a single fan here who would be upset if DA turned into the next Lombardi and won 3 striaght championships.

So don’t put the onus on us the fans, put it where it belongs………..the HC.

I don’t know that it’s the money more than the attempt to create parity (i.e. having more talented players available to bad teams). Besides, you really want to see Reggie dumpster dive the 61st and 62nd best former Packers instead of the 54th and 55th best?

Dennis Allen wasn’t smart enough to stop knapp and the o-line coach and the special teams coach from destroying our few strengths last offseason.

He then showed that his team played with little to no heart.

He then showed that his teams were very unprepared on a weekly basis.

He then showed a lack for making halftime adjustments.

I hope getting rid of cancers like Kelly, huff, and McClain….and knapp….will help with those areas.

In my mind Dennis Allen has a lot to prove and if he doesn’t win 7 games next year Reggie is going to fix that mistake.

    >>>

Because thats how bottom feeder teams get good free agents. Otherwise they will take market value or often time MUCH less to go to a SB ready team.

Thats why Reggie needs to get to the playoffs with his herd of scrubs somehow… or this thing will start spiraling out of control quickly.

A cheapass GM with a 2-14 team does not work in the NFL.

If Hue was coaching last year with the cap issues and injuries and the way Denver played he would have maybe gone 6-10,,,,if he was lucky. Plus there are a whole lot of issue with Hue that we talked about yesterday. Want to re hash them? I’ll be happy to re post the reasons why Hue would have had a hard time last year.
