Raiders draft picks assigned jersey numbers

By Steve Corkran
Thursday, May 9th, 2013 at 12:50 pm in Oakland Raiders.

The Raiders selected 10 players in the NFL draft in late April. On Thursday, those players received their jersey numbers in advance of the rookie mini camp this weekend.
Of note, defensive tackle Stacy McGee received veteran defensive tackle Richard Seymour’s old number, which throws water on the possibility of the Raiders re-signing Seymour.
Also, linebacker Sio Moore now is wearing the jersey number sported by middle linebacker bust Rolando McClain the past three seasons.
Here’s the complete list:
CB D.J. Hayden — 25
OT Menelik Watson — 71
LB Sio Moore — 55
QB Tyler Wilson — 8
TE Nick Kasa — 88
RB Latavius Murray — 34
TE Mychal Rivera — 81
DT Stacy McGee — 92
WR Brice Butler — 19
DE David Bass — 51
Those 10 players, as well as the 14 undrafted free agents and eligible first-year players are expected to participate in the three-day mini camp that begins Friday. The media are allowed to attend Saturday, at which time we will post several stories and Tweets.

Sure they do but the teams that have a way of doing things and have a strong philosophy find a coach that has the same basic views as the team and builds continuity. If you keep changing coaches all the time you don’t build the foundation that produces winning. It didn’t work with All and it won’t work for us.******************************************
Look man let me spell it out for you. No one is talking about changing coaches all the time being any solution. We’re saying Reggie screwd up picking this particular coach and that much is obvious to a blind man. Reggie can try to fix the guy all he wants he is NOT a leader of men…………period

Cespedes was wanted by every major league baseball team.

Norris, Reddick, Griffin, Milone were all top flight prospects.

And Parker was a top 10 draft pick.

    Nondescript players, LMAO.

    More like top-shelf prospects

JFB might be the only rabid SF GIANT fan that thought BUSTER POSEY wasn’t that good of a player and that his name was better than he was.

    Guilty as charged.

When he was slapping singles the other way on 2-0 pitches, I wasn’t all that impressed.

Now he bangs those same pitches 380 feet off the wall or over it.

Do we KNOW DA is a bad coach?

I don’t know if he is or isn’t.

    This season will tell.

Damn you remembered that one 99?

That was only a one-dayer convo, didn’t bang that drum too much.

Just thought he was a tad overrated at first, and partly because he had a cool name.

So if they were to redo last years NBA draft now, where does Dray Green go?

    I would go like this:

    1-Liliard
    2-Davis
    3-Beal
    4-Barnes
    5-Drummond
    6-Waiters
    7-Ross

Then…..it is a toss-up. You could argue Green should have been like the 8th pick in the draft.

    What a steal

  • ESETERIK78

    Moore
    Ford
    Crinor
    Streater
    Butler
    McGuffie
    Vernon

    Who am I forgetting?

    Still have Hagan?

How much had they done a the major league level? Nondescript careers Cespedas I thought might be another Canseco however had NEVER done it at this level fool. You cannot say this team was picked as a divison winner or even close. Most of these guys had career years last year. Melvin was a huge factor in molding them into a team of believers the same way Jackson has the Dubs. Jackson hasn’t hit a single 3 pointer but he is largely responsible for where they are. Same with the A’s and that very young roster. Curt did wonders with the stafff but Melvin did what needed to be done………….period

Gettin crowded at the WR spot.

I think the seven I listed there is a strong group.

How many can be on the roster? 6 or 7?

    Haven’t seen Session or Williams.

  • Just Fire Baby

Melvin is a good coach, never said he wasn’t.

But the A’s, as usual, are absolutely loaded with top-flight prospects.

Norris was a stud catching propsect. Parker was the first pitcher taken in the draft his year. Reddick was the prize of the Red Sox farm system.

These weren’t no-namers in baseball circles. These were thoroughbreds.

  • RaiderGator

DA was horrible at half time. No adjustments, nothing. We were flat out butt ugly awful in the 3rd quarter last year. Out ineptness at half time was bad.

In the 3rd quarter DA was out scored 144-54.

Eight of those 3rd quarters we were blanked.

Once we scored 10 points and held the Bengals to 0 third quarter points. But we lost that game, 34-10.

Where is the bright side or the positives to any of this?

What I’d like to know is what the heck goes on at half time. A fckin potty break and snacks?

I think the General Manager establishes an organizational identity whose parameters dictate what kind of coaches and players he’ll hire. If he hires coach X, than, fine, coach X runs his own system. But he might not ever hire coach Y.
And, similarly, I’m sure there are some GM’s certain coaches would never work for.
At a higher level, the same dynamic happens between owner and GM.

Hey, some people just don’t want to see the truth.

Obviously, TITS was horrible last year.

Anyone that tells you he wasn’t is lying or just doesn’t know wtf he’s talking about.

That being said, the reality is, he somehow survived and is back for 2013.

The only real question to be asked about TITS is whether there is any reason to believe he can turn things around or if there is a glimmer of hope he can ‘grow into’ the job and become a decent HC.

I wouldn’t say that’s an impossibility, but I think the chances are slim to none.

IMO, we’re wasting time with TITS, and having to fire him and start over again will be aomewhat of a setback.

It’s a speedbump on the rebuild road.

Phasing in a new HC in 2014 will make it more difficult to contend in that year, but if things break right we might do so anyway.

    Raiderman99,

We all saw what Jeff Fisher did in STL. His presence alone was able to get victories(should have been 2) over the whiners, beat the seahawks, and only lost by 7 to them on their home field. The Lambs have a real coach who knows what he’s doing. Shreg gave us Denise…smh

You don’t know what the hell you’re talking about BOY!

The team on the field takes the HC’s personality they never even see the GM. Players are molded by their HC’s phylosophy which is administered by his position coach.

Mr Davis’ teams always were a mirror of the HC he hired. From Madden to Hue Jackson. His Phylosophy was not always evident in that the only thing we always did was play man defense which was his staple however we have played every scheme defensively and offensively that the HC saw fit. Some of it he agreed with some he didn’t. He never liked the WCO but he used because the HC wanted to ie; Gruden, White, Shanahan and Kiffin. He also allowed Bugel to use his system which was a departure. It shows how much you so-called Raider fans really know about the facts.

Actually, when DA speaks, I kinda like him. Seems competent and I start to get some confidence.

There was a general feeling for me that he was just sort of watching last year.

When a coach is not involved with calling plays, he’s a big picture guy.

I have to see more before I can say for sure.

If the team comes out and plays well, it means he’s doing the job.

There have been plenty of stoic winners.

  • RaiderGator

Denarius Moore showed signs of greatness with a huge upside his rookie year. Knapp wrecked him by taking him and Palmer out of their comfort level to instill a system designed for zero success. Hopefully Moore finds new life this year, cuz I think he could be special. Could be the little kool aid that’s left, but he is one of my favorite players. But I fear since he too is a Al guy, he may not be part of Reggies’ grand plan.

  • Relentless

Lechler isn’t overpaid by the Texans. We could him back simply for the chemistry with Jano. He had 1 bad year and let’s crucify him? And Dr. Pryor would get a shot somewhere else. Read-option is hot right now. Except for Tebow.
