Raiders rookie mini camp underway

Saturday is the day that the Raiders permit the media to attend the team’s rookie mini camp. The two other days are closed to the media.
The roster shows 31 players slated to participate. It’s unclear at this time whether all 31 are cleared to partake in all the activities planned for the three-day proceedings.
Access begins in about 20 minutes. We will send Tweets and Twitpics from the field. Beyond that, coach Dennis Allen will address the media after practice, some time around 1:15 p.m. PDT, and select players will be made available for interviews.
Note: We were just informed that media access has been pushed back to 11:15 a.m. PDT.

So is the “Padron Poosee” I mean posse cheering for the camp arm/camp body not get crushed by no1 D in OTAs and mini camp Dr”100% right” Bobert?

Sporano already taking over as his mentor. those are some long ass arms this limey’s got aren’t they? and he was a boxer? he will have quick and devastating hands.

still say he should be our starting LG this year and backup LT/RT … we cannot trust Barron or Bergstrom(if they make it out of TC that is)

Will be an interesting battle at QB, people seem to be ignoring the fact that Flynn went 7 for 26 for 102 yards and a pick in preseason last year, he lost the job and is likely that he is simply overhyped based on one game. Likely that he will lose the job again, Reggie seems committed to a pocket passer so may be Wilson – although I think Pryor would be a better fit with our weal line.

Yeah cuz we all know Jim Tressel and OSU have horrible coaching.

When his mechanics still look bad this preseason, what will it be?

He needs five more years of personal coaching to make up for the racially motivated lack of coaching the poor kid has had to suffer thru?

    =================

God, let the freaking pre-season start , so these people can play so they can shut the f#%k up about this stupid a&% argument.

I really hope the kid turns it around – has been one of the silliest arguments over the last 3 months. Get him a wildcat package, let him score a few times, throw, make some plays, then just prove he’s solid enough to back up and even add another dimension

Only thing worse then the racism itself is the argument back and forth over a talented, yet inexperienced player

TP, prove these suckers wrong, in fact, Dennis Allen prove these people wrong,

nothing would be more satisfying then seeing these mofos back the hell up and guffaw and stutter about “well, uh he never did that or showed that before” etc.

Bergs should be fine at LG. Realistic best case for Watson would probably be him alternating quarters with Barnes until midseason, then taking over RT full-time.

    “Linebackers

Locks: Miles Burris, Nick Roach, Kevin Burnett, Sio Moore, Kaluka Maiava

Looking good: Keenan Clayton, Kaelin Burnett

50-50: Travis Goethel

Must impress: Jerrell Harris, Mario Kurn, Billy Boyko

Notes: The personnel here suggests a 3-4 alignment, so where does the perpetually injured Goethel fit? Whoever can excel on special teams will make the 53-man roster here. But like mentioned above, who provides the pass rush? It’s a lot to ask of a rookie in Moore, no?”

    ==========================

Is Flynn a better player, but inexperienced over the long haul?, Or a player who was with a well put together team executing a more well prepared offense that were peaking at week 17?

Is Wilson a “natural” that adapted to a bad circumstance, struggled but played tough and has the capacity to endure a developing situation.

    appears observation 2 is feasible.

  • xraided

    yea we will see.

Boxing also helps your balance and feet quickness tremendously. both an OT and a boxer need those skill sets to succeed, especially balance. Watson has the upper hand over a lot of rookie linemen out there …

If Mayock is correct in that he doesn’t know what he’s doing, it would be more beneficial in this PBS to kick the kid inside at any guard spot to beast up the man in front of him.

if he develops quickly, it would be a waste to relegate him to a backup or to switch quarters with Barnes… just my two cents

It means these UDFAs have to be standing out. You’ve gotta make the coaches notice you. See Streater last year and maybe Vernon today.

I do think Wilson is a natural, I think Reggie did good with both him and Hayden who the prior year were both thought to be definite first rounders – both have the skill to step in and also went through challenging situations last year which would only help them mature.

Conner Vernon looks legit. Hasn’t dropped a pass from what I’ve seen. Crisp route runner, doesn’t break stride, watches ball in.

    _______________

it seems like reg may know talent when he sees it. here’s hopin this rookie draft class fills some much needed holes!

As much as Conner Vernon hates the comparison, the first thing I thought of is “We’ve got our own Wes Welker now”. Guilty.

Not all white receivers are short, slow and have good hands, but i’m sorry..this guy seems to fit the stereotype.

Not all white receivers fit that stereotype. You’ve got guys like Erik Decker, Jordy Nelson…but it’is a shame when we stereotype like that.

Get open…catch the ball. That’s all he needs to do.

Brisiel will give Watson a steady vet presence.

I think that Vernon could be the UDFA of the year…

  • xraided

i wouldn’t mind that lineup either. it would obviously mean that Watson beat out a long time vet in Barnes.

and there’s a strong chance that Bris isn’t set up for this system … that’s to be the case:

    V-Bergs-Wiz-Barnes-Watson

  • Raiders for life

I have a question about Bergstrom playing LG. His natural position is on the right side. Frankie Pollack had him at LG last season in training camp and said it was to make him more versatile. In Berg’s limited playing time last season didn’t he come in as a RG or RT?
Anyway, hopefully Sporano can put these guys in the best position.

I like this too. If the reports are true in that Brisiel was mightily hampered by an ankle injury all season then I’d like to see what he has this year. i’d seriously consider signing OG Brandon Moore to play LG on a 1 year deal. yes, he is old at 34, but he is still a good OG. Bergstrom couldn’t even beat out Carlisle last year.

  • lefty12

X-Watson was drafted to play RT not inside. The coaches said at the end of last season they liked both Bergs and Nix while Brisiel played hurt and will no doubt be penciled in at RG.The line looks like JV-Berg-Wiz-Brisiel-Watson with Barnes the backup T.
