Kluwe chooses silver and black over White House

ALAMEDA – Veteran punter Chris Kluwe is hopeful of catching on with the Raiders this season. If he isn’t successful, it won’t be for lack of effort or dedication.
Kluwe turned down an invitation to attend a reception at the White House on June 13th in honor of Lesbian Gay Bisexual Transgender Month so that he could participate in the Raiders mini camp.
Kluwe informed President Obama by letter late last month.
“It is with deep regret that I must decline your invitation to attend the Reception at the White House for LGBT Pride Month on June 13th. I would really, really, really like to be there,” Kluwe wrote in response to his invitation.
“But unfortunately, not even the President of the United States is allowed to supersede an NFL mandatory mini-camp practice (at least insomuch as I can understand the new CBA, though I could possibly be mistaken), and as a current member of the Oakland Raiders, I owe it to both my teammates and my coaches to be fully prepared for the upcoming season.”
When asked about it Monday, Raiders coach Dennis Allen said Kluwe is making a sound decision.
“His job is to really focus in on making our football team,” Allen said. “That needs to be the biggest focus that he has right now. Right now, he’s of the same mind-set.”
Kluwe gained notoriety for being outspoken on political issues during his eight-year career with the Minnesota Vikings.
Some questioned his dedication to his profession in the past. The same can’t be said now in light of Kluwe’s recent decision to choose offseason practices over an invitation to the White House.

We could have as many as seven by midseason…

I’m just seeing a very similar team to last year.. no good receivers including tight end no good pass rushers..

the secondary looks better the running backs look deeper.. lbs looks better.. but will that be enough on a team with no stars?

I could have gotten four instant starters from this draft.. but give Reggie the benefit of the doubt, its the long term of the players that’s most important.

I was thinking one of the TEs (Ausberry is not an NFL tight end), Murray for when DMac does his annual “Someone breathed on me wrong! I’m out the next two months!” act, and possibly Wilson. That would make six along with DJ, Watson and Moore. McGee would make seven.

After the Heat’s 91-77 loss in Game 6, the issues were obvious, the criticism fully revved. On TNT, Reggie Miller called them the “Miami Cavaliers.” Steve Kerr said James was getting “zero help.” And Kenny Smith observed that Bosh and Wade were physically and athletically “outmatched.”

At the moment, Wade looks old, Bosh looks overpriced and James, well, he looks lonely

“I mean, we can state the obvious: they’re both struggling,” James said, moments after reminding everyone that he believes in his teammates.

LOL at posting an article on whats been flashing across the bottom screen since SAT on NFL NETWORK

Who cares about the F’n Punter and the PR guy

did u hear that the Raiders missed out yet again something that could have helped this franchise. I have been saying it since last season… that the Raiders wanted Kapernick

KAEPERNICK plus HUE JAX would have taken this franchise back to the TOP

    NO KAPERNICK

NO HUE JAX (one of our best coaches since GRUDEN)

The article I posted last season

I have the biggest hopes for Ausberry, Reece, and maybe Streater.

Source: Kaepernick is No. 1 QB on Raiders’ draft board

Posted by Evan Silva on April 28, 2011, 12:42 PM EDT

    AP
Twelve days ago, a league source told PFT that one unnamed AFC West team informed Nevada’s Colin Kaepernick that he is the No. 1 quarterback on their draft board.

PFT has tracked down the team.

Per a league source, it’s the Oakland Raiders.

The Raiders hosted Kaepernick for an official, team-facility visit on April 12. Thursday morning, the San Francisco Chronicle reported that Oakland is trying to trade into the first round of the draft.

Michael David Smith speculated that Kaepernick could be the Raiders’ target. Other reports suggest it could be Colorado cornerback Jimmy Smith.

Meanwhile, NFL Network’s Jason La Canfora told a Miami radio show Thursday morning that he believes the Dolphins will draft Kaepernick with the 15th overall pick.

Kaepernick was not included in renowned draft prognosticator Rick Gosselin’s first round.

    ————————————–

They would have taken KAPERNICK.. nfl bloggers would have been making fun of the pick.. KAEPERNICK now would be a RAIDER STAR… OH WELLL

Thats why AL went out an got TERRELLE PRYOR in the 3rd round that summer in the supplemental draft.

Instead we got wasted draft picks on a washed up PALMER.. that fugged the CAP UP… now got FLYNN BABY

Finally read the article that supposedly got the PR guy fired. Not sure how this would be his fault. I thought it was pretty good article. Does take a few shots at AD in his later years, but nothing thats never been said before.
