Raiders OTA today begins in 15 minutes

By Steve Corkran
Monday, June 3rd, 2013 at 9:51 am in Oakland Raiders.

The Raiders are back on the field today as they kick off their third week of organized team activities (OTA). So, we’ll be coming at you strong and hard today with Tweets, Twitpics and blog posts to keep you up on the action.
The media are permitted to attend only one of three OTA practices each week, which explains why we don’t report on the two other days. We can’t report on what we don’t see.
So, let’s hope there’s plenty going on today on the field and that we can glean some more insight into how the Raiders shape up as they near training camp and the 2013 season.

What sort of surgery did Burris have on his knee and when was it done ?

Was it expected that he wouldn’t be able to practice during the OTAs ?

    ***

    @RM99

GM Reggie McKenzie gave no details on the surgery

So not true, I’ve been told I’m a very handsome dude. Like Jeff Bridges but taller. So there.
    =================================================
Yeah, but what do people besides your mom think ?
    ;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;
Now you just leave my mummy out of this. She did love me though. I’m mistaken for Jeffie baby all the time on the street. People want my autograph. I’m pretty cool. You’ll still want to fondle DA tties tomorrow.

  • RAIDERMAN99

I rarely agree with Riff, but about the RAIDS having the worst bunch of beat writer hacks imaginable – we’re in total accordance.

Matt Flynn throws high for Rod Streater, ball winds up on the ground. Not a tough pass.

players wearing red on helmets — Signifies they are playing offensive role, despite wearing same jersey.

MarquetteKing just boomed a punt 70+ yards. Very nice.

Marcel Reece applauded (literally) by assistant coach Al Saunders for a route well run. Two things you can count on out here

Tracy Porter is back from a calf injury and playing first-team cornerback along with Mike Jenkins

G Lucas Nix injured his finger, but it looks minor

Jacoby Ford also on the side with the injured guys now, watching practice with his cap backward

Matt Flynn throws high for Rod Streater, ball winds up on the ground. Not a tough pass.

Flynn follows with a similar pass to Denarius Moore. Same result.

  • rediaR

Ford getting hurt only fuels my thought that he doesn’t make the team.

  • ElkGRaider

Ford already on the sidelines. Pinky toe acting up?

  • rediaR

Levi-Streater and Moore have passes go through their hands.

    Cork-Flynn’s fault

WR’s still dropping passes I see.

    Flynn is fvcked.

Quarterback throws getting better, from Flynn and Pryor.

Any word on how DHB is doing with the Colts?

  • rediaR

Vernon’s name comes up quite a bit, and only in a positive light.

  • RaiderRockstar

And the first catch of team sessions goes to Darren McFadden on the third pass

Taiwan Jones and Chimdi getting some reps with 2nd team defense

Lucas Nix hurt his finger earlier but he’s back in

Taiwan gives up mid range catch to Conner Vernon

Nick Roach looks good in coverage. Was all over Gordon to defend a pass on an out route

    Full-team drill over for now.

  • RaiderRockstar

Sam McGuffie is another intriguing prospect. Good hands, just gets open.

  • ElkGRaider

Not a devoted Pryor guy but if Flynn was only marginally better passing (with all the crackdowns to come this year) I would rather give the shot to TP. Love his deep ball. Gives guys a shot to get under it. Plus you know the speed, athleticism, leadership, blah blah…

Yes, Streater is next in line

  • RaiderRockstar

Flynn seam route for Brian Leonhardt tipped, almost intercepted by Usama Young.

Flynn throws low to Denarius Moore, who makes a nice catch.

Matt Flynn and Tyler Wilson with nice throws at opposite ends of the field.

Nice catch of low pass from Flynn by D Moore. Makes up for bad drop earlier

Sam McGuffie leaves his feet to have one bounce off his chest. A coach yells “Catch with your hands!” So familiar

Criner with nice grab in traffic in stride

Flynn throws wild for Andre Holmes, who makes diving attempt to snare the ball. To no avail.

Pat Sims bats down Flynn pass at the line.

i’m not on twitter, but on here i’ve read two different accounts of the same two plays. one had streater and moore dropping well-thrown balls, the other had flynn sailing the ball over their heads. i was assuming based on rediaR’s post that the tweet blaming Flynn came from Corkran.
    i could be wrong.

  • The_Judge37

Looks like all the beat writers are applying for the new Raiders PR opening. All of a sudden WR’s are making spectacular catches of the Errant passes.

  • RaiderRockstar

Flynn scrambles, buys time, makes nice pass to Juron Criner.

TerrellePryor with nice read, nice touch on flat pass. That’s the way it’s done.

Hey Dr,Pryor is shownin nice touch

  • rediaR

What I gathered from the tweets is that the passes were above the WR’s heads, but still went through their hands. Not perfect passes, but should be caught every time.
