NFL Supplemental Draft coming up

The Raiders landed quarterback Terrelle Pryor in the supplemental draft in 2011. The Cleveland Browns scored a direct hit in the supplemental draft with wide receiver Josh Gordon last year. On Thursday, we’ll find out whether the Raiders or any other teams jumps at the players available in this year’s proceeding.
Teams that select a player in the supplemental draft forfeit a draft pick in the following regular draft in the corresponding round.
For example, the Raiders selected Pryor in the third round of the supplemental draft. Therefore, they surrendered their third-round pick in the 2012 NFL regular draft.
Here’s a list of the six players eligible for selection in this year’s supplemental draft:
UN-Las Vegas defensive end James Boyd, Central Florida defensive end Toby Jackson, UNLV defensive tackle Nate Holloway, University of Houston wide receiver DeWayne Peace, Purdue receiver O.J. Ross and South Alabama defensive back Damond Smith.

    I completely dismiss the notion that 20’s bad season was due to the OC.

    It’s as simple to me as you have to be better than Reece and Goodson running the same plays.

    And it wasn’t even close.
    $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$

    Was he injured/ recovering from an injury too the 1st time Knapp was here?

    RB aren’t drafted too high these days, O.

    So are you taking the position that 20 is “the guy” and he’ll hold down the #1 job even if he’s on pace to replicate last season?

    200 yds and 1 TD through 3 games, or something along those lines, and you’ll see Jennings.

    I think the Lisfranc effected him more than anyone will admit last season.

    —————————————————————————–

    Anyone????

    Bringing in Jennings and drafting a RB tells me the coaches and GM feel the same way.

    ==============

    We lost Goody too….. That was a factor.

  • Just Fire Baby

    At his age to pay him 5mil for 5-6 games is ludicrous.

    **********************************

    Why? The vet minimum is around 2 million for his age.

    Your taking about paying a perenniel Pro Bowl player a couple million above the minimum, on a short-term, non-mortgaging the future contract.

    If we can pay Seymour 15 million a year, we can pay Abraham 1/3rd of that.

  • RaiderRockstar

    @Raider O

    Knapp/McFadden in 2008 featured DMAC as a rookie playing second fiddle to Justin Fargas. He lost a few carries to Mike Bush as well.

    but yes – he was injured in Week 2 I think (Chiefs game) suffered turf toe on both feet that year and a shoulder injury. He missed a total of 3 games, but played hurt in about 10 others

    J,

    From the GM statements, I think they are building an offense around 20.

  • http://www.raiders.com Raider O

    RR,

    The Fat monkey took over play calling for a reason.
    Knapp was a QB coach with the texans for 2 years for a reason.
    Knapp is not an OC now for a reason.

    He sucks!!

  • RaiderRockstar

    @Raider O

    you’ve also got to remember that Knapp was only the play caller for 2 games in 2008.

    Kiffin was the play caller until he got fired. Knapp was stripped of those duties by Tom Cable after just 2 games.

    hard to blame Knapp for anything that occured in his previous stint in Oakland. probably why he got re-hired

    he just wasn’t a good fit in 2012, PERIOD. should have kept the same system in place with Bob Wylie as OL Coach. Big Wiz would have stayed too. Shouldn’t have been too hard to find an OC not named Al Saunders to run Hue Jackson’s style of offense

  • http://www.raiders.com Raider O

    Wasn’t a good fit? You are being nice?
    It’s well documented that Knapp’s teams struggle to score.

  • RaiderRockstar

    @Raider O

    Knapp had a pretty impressive resume from his days with San Fran & Atlanta.

    his Seattle OC stint was a bust that only lasted 1 year before they hired Pete Carroll to come in and clean house and put together his system/scheme and select his own staff.

    he did some impressive work in developing Schaub & Yates. Probably hoping he could help “fix” Palmer & Leinart.

    after the Raiders dumped him it took all of 3 seconds for him to find another job with a serious Super Bowl contender. I think Knapp is a fine coach. just a bad fit here

  • http://www.raiders.com Raider O

    Knapp had a pretty impressive resume from his days with San Fran & Atlanta.

    Impressive?
    He had one good year with SF. The rest of his years in SF and ATL were avg at best.

    ***

    @Jhill

    I think Jennings & Murray will be behind DMAC on the depth chart all season long, if #20 is healthy

    we’re building the entire offense around him. He’s in a contract year and apparently Reggie/Dennis love the guy. I don’t see anybody stealing his carries.

    The other runners will likely get an opportunity though, due to a DMAC injury. It’ll be interesting to see if Reece will be the guy or if one of the others [Jennings, Murray, Stewart] will step up or perhaps a RB by committee approach ??

  • RaiderRockstar

    He is a good QB coach but he is a below avg OC.

    ***

    maybe one day we’ll hire a solid QB Coach like Knapp (or Hue Jackson) instead of some POS like John DeFilippo!

    give Terrelle Pryor a fighting chance so he doesn’t have to hire his own QB coaches over the offseason, lol

    Atlanta should make this dude play out his last year. And when they lose in the 1st round again next year, give the guy a take-it-or-leave-it lowball offer. Ryan should be paying the Falcons for the privilege of playing with that group of skill players. I honestly believe they already have someone on their roster other than Ryan who can lead them to playoff losses.

    SeaPerch – Has improved since the day he missed 3 or 5 FG’s in Arizona to cost us a game. He also stopped clanking the uprights on a reg basis. I would give him a short deal based on his age, 2 or 3 years max. I expect him to be money when the game is not on the line and when it’s a high pressure moment I expect him to be avg at best as he has been throughout his career.

    Houston – Like SeaPerch improved his game after I put him on my radar. I expect him to perform like he did last year no better.

    Don’t blame you for forgetting Luck. He did OK, but was a distant 3rd behind RG3 and Wilson IMO. For the stat geeks, here’s some food (insert JR joke) for thought: In their 1st years as starters in the NFL, JaMarcus Russell had a higher QB rating than Andrew Luck!

    good post Debo,

    not only do the numbers tell you that Cam is far superior to stafford, but so does the nfl record book that Cam is re writing on a daily basis.

    Not to mention the medical billing history for both players.

    Cam = super human indestructible

    stafford = mr glass

  • theghostronin79

    Something tells me that Murray is going to make his presence known. He falls somewhere in between DMAC and Bush.

    He doesn’t move as suddenly as DMAC, and not as explosive when hitting the hole (Much like Bush). Mike never looked very graceful or pretty, often stumbling around, twisting his body, and flailing his free arm around in the air. He’d look about ready to slide into 3rd base but manage to keep his footing. Never had the break away speed, though he did house a few long runs.

    DMAC could Juke guys 5 yards downfield and come outta the hole shot from a cannon, plus a BASTARD of a stiff arm. He made dudes pay for trying to tackle him in the open field.

    I think Murray will be deceptively fast. Like Pryor, when he runs he looks like he’s jogging, but yet nobody can run him down. I also think he’ll be a load to bring down. Maybe not BLASTING guys like DMAC, but dudes will bounce off him and arm tackles won’t get it done.

    I think he could be a fantastic compliment to DMAC, and personally, I think it would be smart to give him some rations for the mere sake of extending DMAC’s shelf life. If he’s running good, he should not be over-worked.

    My 2 cents

  • Just Fire Baby

    Knapp as an OC in Atlanta holds the franchise single-game postseason record for points scored in a game.

    Also hung up a 39 spot in a playoff game in San Fran.

    Scoring 40 points in postseason wins is about the peak of the peak for an offensive co-ordinator.

    Haha! Yeah, Stafford has the injury history. I really don’t have a problem with guys like him getting paid though. Like Cam, Stafford has an extremely rare skill set. Both have otherworldly arm strength. It would be really hard for either of their teams to replace them.

    Really? that was quick……. Just after the fight, Anderson didn’t want a remach. I suspected he’d been considering hanging up his gloves. Prior to the fight even. He seemed to lack the fire he once had. I honestly thought he was getting bored. He was walking through EVERYBODY…..Making Champions look like Chumps.
