Raiders sign Watson, Hayden remains

The Raiders announced the signing of second-round draft pick Menelik Watson Wednesday, leaving first-round pick D.J. Hayden as the last member of the draft class who is not under contract.

Watson (6-foot-5, 315 pounds) was the 42nd overall pick out of Florida State and is expected to compete with incumbent Khalif Barnes for the starting job at right tackle when the Raiders begin training camp practices Friday morning.

It is not clear whether Hayden, the No. 12 pick in the first round, is ready to practice following an offseason procedure for scar tissue in his abdomen. Hayden underwent major surgery for a torn inferior vena cava _ a vein leading to his heart _ in November.

Players arrived at training camp Wednesday, although it’s not clear whether everyone is present since coach Dennis Allen doesn’t speak to the media until the club completes its first practice.

Raiders players undergo physicals Thursday and attend meetings in advance of Friday’s first practice.

Here is how the C-Wood jersey negotiations went:

Porter: Yo…C-Wood give me $25k and you get your number.
    C-Wood: Nope…
Porter: OK…how about a case of wine?
    C-Wood: Nope…
Porter: Make me an offer what you think your number is worth.

C-Wood to Reggie at the I-Hop: How is that double stack tasting?
Reggie: I’ll have your jersey number when we get to Napa!

    “Thanx,666.
Not amazing. Cork will work with you. He11, B@uce’s been banned a handful of times, possibly into the double digits.Probably could have been reinstated almost immediately-6/12-had I persued it, but my first email to Cork was simply “Me? Seriously?” and he may not have even connected the dots. Thought I’d remembered something about 1 or 2 week bans, so I let it slide, feeling (as i still do) I had nothing to apologize for. You know the rest. You can find their emails at bay area news group.”

I think it was 2007 or 2008 there used to be a Mod in here and I was pretty rough on the Mod one day and got a 2 week ban. So I do know first hand they do exist.

“More than 70 ingredients make up the McRib and, yes, one of them is pork. But as CBS 2’s Vince Gerasole reports, there’s also an ingredient that can be found in shoes… [Registered dietician Cassie] Vanderwall gave the McRib a closer look and found the McRib has azodicarbonamide, which is used to bleach the flour in bread. It has other uses. ‘It could be on your yoga mat, in your gym shoes, in your anything that’s rubbery,’ Vanderwall said…

Then there’s the pork – which is really restructured meat product. In other words, it’s made from all the less expensive innards and castoffs from the pig… Vanderwall said the McRib ingredient list ‘reminds me of a chemistry lab.’”

The DJ Heyden pick may end up working out, but I do not see the kid being physically ready to make an impact this year. 90% of people who sustain this type of injury die so this situation is unprecedented. I am pulling for DJ, but he may not play until next season.
    =====================================================
    This is a bit misleading.
When you rupture a major vein due to a violent collision you will quickly bleed to death(exsanguinate)without immediate medical attention. Happens in a car crash(where most of that 90% die), you’re dead, unless you crashed into a hospital. Happens on a football field with trained medical personnel on hand, you got lucky.Supposedly it is unlikely his vena cava was any weaker than anybody else’s and won’t be after repairing.
So now his belly is filling with venal blood from an unknown source and doctors cut him open and frantically search around for the source, moving guts and organs around, damaging connective tissue without much care as they’re trying to save his life and know that connective tissue damage is a minor concern. They find the leak closer to the heart, fix it, and put the rest back in place as best they can, knowing that any damage (already done in the heat of the moment) will likely heal jut fine. If not, they know they can go back in and without life threatening concerns, take their time and make it like new, albeit with a 6-8 week healing period.
    I’m not concerned about this.

So do the Raiders tarp more seats, fix the plumbing and stay at the O, or do they move to San Diego once the bolts bolt for LA? I’d rather see the plumbing fixed.
