First- and second-round draft picks shut down

First-round draft pick D.J. Hayden and second-round draft pick Menelik Watson were placed on the non-football-injury list today. Therefore, they likely won’t participate in the Raiders first practice at training camp in Napa on Friday.
The designation simply means that Hayden and Watson suffered injuries in an exercise or incident unrelated to football. Hayden and Watson can come off the list at any time during training camp and pick up where they left off, once they pass a physical.
No word on the nature or severity of Watson’s injury. We should know more Friday, when coach Dennis Allen speaks with the media for the first time since the conclusion of offseason workouts in June.
Coincidentally, former Raiders offensive lineman Bruce Campbell was placed on the NFI list a few years ago after he suffered an injury before training camp started.
This isn’t what Watson needs, given he is a rookie, on the verge of his first training camp and in need of every rep possible if he hopes to unseat Khalif Barnes for the starting job at right offensive tackle.
Hayden, of course, has been recovering from surgery to remove scar tissue in his abdominal region. He first had surgery in that area last November, when he suffered a ruptured vein.

I see the Same old $h!t with this O-line. No Excuses for Brisel last year, who knows even if he’s “Healthy” that he’ll be good at PBS. Same goes for Berg/Nix in a new system. Kalif, nuff said. Watson is falling behind in addition to having an uphill battle with his lack of experience.

R8ER MIKE, in 6 weeks of exile, you gave me the greatest f*cking laugh of all the comments I read and I was sorry I couldn’t thank you at the time.
About you wanting to go out peacefully like your granddad. Not like the other thirty people on the bus he was driving.
I’m still laughing just typing it.

I’m not singing their praises, ut if Sparano can field an OLine on both sides of the center, that alone will be an improvement. Smith/Injured Brisiel 9 games last year.

Wideouts are better. No DHB, no Murphy, and Streater and Criner have some experience.

Safeties: Usama Young and C-Wood will be a big improvement over Huff and Giordano.

    DVD was worthless.

All positions on the D have improved from last year. With Sporano at the helm the Oline will be better also.
