Raiders get some linebacker help

NAPA — With a handful of linebackers injured, the Raiders turned to a familiar face for some immediate help and signed veteran Omar Gaither on Monday.
Gaither played in seven games for the Raiders last season. He started four of the final five games once the Raiders decided to bury Rolando McClain on the bench.
The Raiders are without Miles Burris (knee), Kaluka Maiava (foot), Billy Boyko and Sio Moore right now, though Moore sent out a Tweet on Sunday night saying that he expected to return to practice today.
Gaither played in the middle last season. However, he is versatile enough to play on the outside, too. Nick Roach has the middle locked down for now.
On Sunday, Burris said he isn’t sure when he will be cleared to practice. He still is recovering from offseason surgery that forced him to miss all of the offseason workouts and mini camps.
Maiava suffered an injury Saturday and exited the field on crutches and with his left foot in a protective boot. The nature of Moore’s injury isn’t known. We should know shortly whether he is healthy enough to get back on the field.
Gaither has started 44 of the 84 games he has played during his seven-year NFL career.

tell me how freaking exciting was the 20 yard zones? what did he really think was going go happen? chucky b was never the d coordinator until al died. And a man only defense did get them to the point where it mattered tits just got reamed and laughed about it with the donkey coach…

Well than tell me how great did our D do from 2003-2011when Al was alive ?

Al was alive when we led 21-3 in buffalo but couldn’t stop That Harvard graduate who’s out of work this year , I’m pretty sure you know his name cuz your fond of remembering every QB that destroys our D, what was his name again??

I think, with DA, Flynn gives us the best chance to win.

If we had a better HC (like PC or Harbugh) Pryor would give us the best chance.

  • RaidersAllday_LtsGeTit

This comes from a seahawk fan

“The reality is Flynn’s 45yd arm, not being able to scramble, and indecisiveness didn’t mesh with Carroll….Flynn will be on the bench by week 5″

    if not pryor then wilson

as you want him wearing a Dolphin hat instead or something? This team is beggin for leaders to step up. We cant do anymore passive guys at Qb. We need to go back to the days of GRUDEN and GANNON.. Get fired up

I have faith that DA can get us moving in the right direction, but he won’t be the one that takes us all the way.

    Another seachicken fan

“Flynn did own up and say he got beat out and Ill give him his respect for that. He may have success in Oakland but it has to be a true wesf coast offense because his arm is average at best. The comments on leadership style and Carroll approach are moot if you look af the qb the year before being Jackson who is not vocal one bit. listen to any intervuew with players here they love playing here and along with tbe high energy it’s also a family environment. Go Hawks.”

    ————————–

I have no problem with Flynn if we run a true west coast offense… if anything it will be able to keep drives going

  • J Hill

    I hear you, Chuck.

But we could easily say what if we scored 2 more TDs instead of all those FGs.

I think we scored 2 TDs all day. were in the red zone A LOT and kept coming away with FGs.

Remember, we had a lot of CB injuries then too.

  • the famous dr robert

Aaron Rodgers never threw for 6 Tds in a game with the same WRs.

Maybe we have our qb and we need to get WR corps up to snuff.

Passive… that was the best way to describe one Carson Palmer. He was so even-steven it was difficult to tell if he was happy, angry, indifferent.

Man, Gannon, he would light into teammates who would make mistakes. I remember glaring down at the sidelines at Gannon and he was always yelling at someone for a mistake.

Pryor brought that same fire last season. He got in people’s faces.

We shall see with Flynn. He is on the record saying he’s even-steven, calm, cool and collected. We’ll see when the hitting starts Week 1 of the regular season if he remains that way or changes.

As far as wearing another team’s gear, Kaepernick is committed to the 49ers and I don’t see him wearing a Dolphins’ hat as much of a big deal. Now, if he were a starter that was absolutely terrible and couldn’t win games for the 49ers and was seen wearing a Phins hat, then, boom, roast him.

  • RaidersAllday_LtsGeTit

Question here… you prefer Grits over Tits?

    Grits of course is….
    ======================================
    If you mean HUE JAX…

Hell yeah, I preferred GRITS over TITS.

    I actually liked HUE.

Think he was a terrible GM, was too power hungry after AD passed, but I liked the guy. Alot.

HUEJAX was exciting as hell, had balls the size of watermelons and did a GREAT job revitalizing the RAID offense.

GRITS had his faults to be sure – and he made some incredibly bad tactical errors during games…

But he had charisma and was a RAIDER.

TITS is just a boring incompetent milquetoast loser.

  • the famous dr robert

Yo Brahs. Support tits as he points us in the right direction.

  • mikeschoice

two QB’s who didn’t zip the ball – (the talking heads were against them in draft due to arm strength) but were accurate and read defenses well- Joe montana and Tom Brady.

Well I don’t care I’ll let them finish all I training camp and all of preseason and then coaches will decide who to start

  • RaidersAllday_LtsGeTit

I support any raiders that peforms and who will get in a guys grill and hold him accountable.

No more of that.. he look to me and i will be the example. U see someone acting stupid causing penalties.. go over there and get in his grill. Half the time Palmer was picking up his nose on the sideline then lookin at it

    RaidersAllday_LtsGeTit

Yeah, Rolando McClain was one of the quietest players as a Raider. Look how that turned out.

Still, there are the exceptions to the rule.

Across the Bay, Anquan Boldin resides. He’s, by all accounts, quiet as hell. Doesn’t say much, just does his job. His former teammate, Larry Fitzgerald is the same. Yet, they are WRs. So, being a vocal WR might not make a difference.

  • RaidersAllday_LtsGeTit

If flynn truly wants to be starter.. then (im not saying he is not) he will start having to act like its his TEAM.. his OFFENSE.. start holding guys accountable.. be vocal.. STEP UP and dont just say “hey thats not me” thats not who i am… well u better get like that.

U only have a few chances at this..

Being Vocal at key posistions is a must.. especially on a YOUNG TEAM.. ESPECIALLY w/o experience players on offense.. and without any true leaders on the team. Besides Woodson.

  • the famous dr robert

Our qb needs to be a good passer.

That’s the most important part of the job.

  • M.Shorter

Guys. We have been switching head coaches for how many years now and we finally have a coach returning but people want him gone and dont support him. Come on.

Hue signing Palmer(crazy contract) was a greater mistake than D.A. not having his back up long snapper but people on here praise Hue. Come on.

Haha Rivers is a rah rah guy and look what he’s accomplished this last 3 years.

  • RaidersAllday_LtsGeTit

We are talking about this RAIDER TEAM.

This Raider team needs rah rah guys… how do i know?? UM REGGIE and DA are begging for it. every dang interview they are saying we need guys to step up and lead.

Josh cribbs just said DA said that today lol.. but no on here the board says we dont need rah rah guys. Get a clue

  • jackasspuria

The NFL’s golden boy, one Thomas Brady, isn’t an overtly vocal leader.

Sure, he has lost his cool at points and yelled at both his head coach and his teammates. But those are rare.

He prefers to lead through his play. His play does all the talking that needs to be done.

Then, you have Ray Lewis. As vocal as you can get.

    Both are/were successful.

  • mcfadden20.

:) :) if all it took was rah rah guys then I’m pretty sure teams will have only have those type of players , Charles Woodson wouldn’t have made it on any team

actually Tom Brady is an extremely vocal and fiery leader.

Watch him on the sidelines.. watch him changing up plays and yelling at guys…
