Raiders get some linebacker help

NAPA — With a handful of linebackers injured, the Raiders turned to a familiar face for some immediate help and signed veteran Omar Gaither on Monday.
Gaither played in seven games for the Raiders last season. He started four of the final five games once the Raiders decided to bury Rolando McClain on the bench.
The Raiders are without Miles Burris (knee), Kaluka Maiava (foot), Billy Boyko and Sio Moore right now, though Moore sent out a Tweet on Sunday night saying that he expected to return to practice today.
Gaither played in the middle last season. However, he is versatile enough to play on the outside, too. Nick Roach has the middle locked down for now.
On Sunday, Burris said he isn’t sure when he will be cleared to practice. He still is recovering from offseason surgery that forced him to miss all of the offseason workouts and mini camps.
Maiava suffered an injury Saturday and exited the field on crutches and with his left foot in a protective boot. The nature of Moore’s injury isn’t known. We should know shortly whether he is healthy enough to get back on the field.
Gaither has started 44 of the 84 games he has played during his seven-year NFL career.

You know, I keep hearing how the team is 100% behind TITS and that he’s well liked, etc.

I’m almost reluctant to bring this up, bcz I don’t think it’s fair to speculate about this kind of stuff, but here goes anyway…

I give TITS alot of credit for the way he handled his dad’s extreme illness and ultimate death last season.

Stayed with the team until the last moment, coached a game and then took off to spend some final time with his Pops.

Kept it quiet and out of the papers.

So, I’m reluctant to say this…

I don’t think the players really cared or had much sympathy for TITS during his trying time – bcz they don’t like or respect him much.

Players didn’t say stuff like ‘We feel bad for Tits and his family and will miss him while he’s gone’.

Nope. Krapp took over, and it was business as usual (another uninspired loss).

Also when ROTURDO went batschit crazy and almost knocked TITS out, I don’t recall any of the players rallying to support TITS and condemning ROTURDO.

Only Tom Kelly said anything – and that was to tell Roturdo to chill out and not do anything he’d regret.

    Tits well liked ?

    I’m not so sure.

Wouldn’t surprise me when TITS gets fired that a bunch of guys will be happy or relieved.

I don’t have to toe the company line, so I can tell you when TITS does get fired (and he will), I’m going to celebrate and have a party.

    FTY.

A lot of HC hire a lot of assistant coaches. Some make it and some don’t. I apologize for DA being human. I’m so sorry he was a new young HC and made so many disastrous mistakes that ruined this team. Jesse guys, I don’t know how we ever will recover. We might as well slit our wrists here and now. How about it. Group suicide anyone?

I think by Pryor saying he was never coached how to throw correctly indicates he is not very coachable. He went to a major college and has had three years in the pros and only now has figured it out?! Seems like it would limit how high his ceiling as a QB can be. Don’t get me wrong I am rooting for the kid seems like a hard worker. But as the dad said on Xmas Vacation “washing machines work hard too”

As for the reason for the Knapp hiring: DA is a DCoach, and as a DCoach he’d want the toughest Offense for the opposing defenses to defend. It backfired, but atleast he was thinking outside the box. The end of the 2011 season our offense wasn’t worth a crap. Even with the power blocking scheme we lost our last 5 games. Keep The Faith!

Oh Gruden wants to be back on a pro sideline, I can guarantee you that. I think I have told you guys, Gruden has this thing called the UFCC. The Unemployed Football Coaches Club. Where college and pro coaches like Norv Turner or Raheem Morris can go, anytime of the day or night, show up at this office park in Tampa, and breakdown tape with Gruden. Remember everyone…DA is supposed to be a HC, not a D-Coordinator. He should have his hand in all aspects of the game.

If our Offense takes a sh*t, its not just Knapps fault, its DA’s as well

If our ST takes a sh*t, DA is held responsible as well

If our D takes a sh*t for 75% of the season, DA is held responsible as well

If we go 4-12 and go 1-9 in the last 10, DA is held responsible.

He’s the HC. Why do we expect less because he’s new to the job? Results or get the f*ck out. He’s our coach so everyone is pulling for him, but seriously enough with the excuses. Last year was embarrassing.

  • Raiders for life

I think you’re speculating a little. You could be right but on the other hand I’ve never read that a player bad mouthed DA. Even Lechler gave DA and Reg props after he signed with whoever he signed with.

The guy who talked up how “this organization” not “we” was able to get the first shutout in 10 years over the worst team in football at home. Mind you, the reason we got that shutout was because KC went for it in our territory the whole 2nd half. And Denise was celebrating this like it’s a major accomplishment. Of course, when talking history he neglected where our first 4 games & the month of November ranked in Raider history. Then again, the media was too pansie to ask it.
