Houston back at practice

Late day for Raiders today, practice didn’t start until 2:50 p.m.

Defensive end Lamarr Houston, who has been out virtually all of August, was back at practice today in full pads. Also returning was guard Lucas Nix, who is competing with Tony Bergstrom to be the starting left guard and has missed the last two sessions with an undisclosed injury.

It was the first training camp practice for linebacker Billy Boyko, an ultra-long shot to make the roster even before he came into camp with an undisclosed injury.

Cornerback Tracy Porter, who did not complete Monday’s practice, was not present as practice got underway Tuesday. Defensive tackles Pat Sims and Vance Walker, the presumptive starters, also were not practicing. Jacoby Ford is doing squats in the weight area.

– Veteran defensive end Andre Carter was a late arrival to practice and appears to be getting a veteran’s day off, as Woodson did Monday.

– The temperature as practice began approached 90 degrees, about as high as its been this season during a moderate camp in terms of weather.

Click here for today’s mid-day web story on tight end Jeron Mastrud, whose ability as an in-line blocker has had him working with the first team of late.

Well let’s put you in charge, Whoknows. I am sick of you arrogant pricks that think they know everything.

I wish this was Ford’s contract year.

There is a reason why there have LONG been running qbs in college and MUCH less so in the nfl.

90 person rosters in college. Can carry more depth.
A scholarship costs the same for every player 1st string qb or 4th.
They are setup for turnover. You only get to exploit a college kid for a few yrs….

  • JLofty

A running qb in the nfl gets hurt more. See III, RG.
In today’s (& even more in tomorrow’s) nfl you will have to factor in concussions as they are no longer ignoring that.
In the NFL you have to pay a top tier qb $50-100+ mill. Tough to watch those millions getting crushed by dbs and lbs downfield.
53 person roster. This will have to change once they realize they can’t hide concussions and guys have to sit for weeks…

I love you Priest. Think about this. I think Moon was a better passer than both RG111 and Pryor. RG111 is a better passer than Pryor. Randall C was a better running and throwing QB than Pryor is right now.

  • JLofty

Robert Griffin seems like a TERRIFIC young QB.

However he looked pretty sad playing on a bad leg in that playoff game. Too bad he has Shanarat for a coach.

Tough to stake the entire $1 Billion franchise on a kid then have his skinny legs running all over the field taking shots like that.

I don’t think it will be too long before someone in the pros tries to stock their roster 3-4 deep with QBs who can run like Terrel or Robert or Russell.

The trick is finding ones that can throw like RG or Kaep….

  • JLofty

Moon was one of the greatest passers I ever saw. Man could that dude chuck it…

Dude I spent a ton of time around that team, Rodney Knox was the PR director and a good friend of mine. I remember when we played the Niners in LA when Steve at QB he hung JR out to dry and TMcDaniel upended him and almost broke his neck. We beat them soundlyand after the game Ronnie Lott had to in their lockerroom to calm Charles Haley down who punch a hole in a wall. He wanted to ounch a hole in Steve Young.
    ===========
You, sir, are full of crap.
    that is not what happened.
Haley was POed that the niners lost to the raiders. Has stated it many times, as has Lott, and others.
Don’t insult everyone by saying Haley was all of a sudden out of control because he thought a qb should have done a better job, and happen to tell you, and only you, you bloated liar.
    ***********************************
Dr Slob, you knwo the media’s version of what happened I know the truth Charles had many fights on that team in fact I think it was Steve Young car that Charles pissed on. They had to get rid of Charles because he was soo violent. Steve almost had his face rearranged that day.
    ===============
fuk off with the dr slob bit, you lying ass.

Yeah, yeah, it’s well known about haley losing it. flashing female reporters, urinating on players cars.
Your answer proves you’re a lying bich.
I referenced your idiot comment that haley wanted to punch out young. you’re full of chit and you damn well know it. you rambling off an answer that had nothing to do with your initial comment, again, proves you’re grasping.

any damn fool can state “you know the media side”. then add they have the inside, knowing anyone can make up bull, like you do.

haley was po’ed at himself, you dumbass, not young.
and here’s a damn guarantee, if haley ever even stated he wanted to go after the qb because of a couple of throws, and had to be held back? be his last day playing in the nfl.

oh yeah….PERIOD, YOU LYING ASS FOOL.

  • Whoknows

Fine I’m in charge, you’re fired twocents. I’d figure you’d like that considering you’re so willing to blindly follow a GM who has yet to show he is capable of doing anything well besides that. How did payton Manning ruin his spine? What ahppened to Troy Aikman? When Steve Young suffered his concussions normally it was in the pocket. As long as you know how to protect yourself you’ll be fine. RG3 ran recklessly and got hurt. No QB should run on a steady diet but it’s safer than taking the hit the Flynn took as a statue.

Running ups the anti on getting hurt. Young always said he gets hit even when he slides. Running a little is OK but not the way Pryor was the other night. Did you see him get tossed out at the sideline.

As far as Rice telling you he hated playing with Young, priest?
Why do you make up this garbage?
Rice’s caught more td’s from Young than Montana.
Youngs first game replacing Montana in a game Young threw for 4 td’s.
I noticed you ignored these comments above, because you know you’re lying.
It would be suicide for any receiver to complain about his qb, yet here you say the greatest of all time WR complained to YOU, about a hall of fame qb?

You’re a total nobody, but you’re saying both the raiders and the niners just let you hang out? players confide in you things they would not tell anyone?

That my prove out to be correct Priest but if RG111 doesn’t become a passing QB he may not get the chance to become great like Moon or Young. As far as Pryor , he needs to learn to read the field better. He can’t continue to look at the primary receiver all of the time.

I would like to see Pryor become more of a scrambler than a runner. I think that was the difference between Elway and Montana. Elway would run down the field and Montana would scramble around and beat you softly with his passing and ability to read defenses so fast. Pryor would be great with his abilty to scramble and pass. Just keep working on the passing Pryor.

    ======================================
With his style of Passing (basically the same as Rodgers) he managed to ring up 251 yards and a 202 QB percentage and around 40 Points against the Patriots in his 1st Start

In his Second and last start with GB (Detroit) he managed to throw for 480 Yards with his Passing and 6 TDs and a 136.4 QB rating while completing 70.5% of his passes and racking up 45 Points

NOTE: FLYNN also has an 80 yard TD and 4 Completions over 40 Yards…

NOT SON…TELL US ALL..WHAT THE GREAT NUMBERS ARE THAT “PRYOR” HAS RACKED UP…Don’t be shy…
