Houston back at practice

Late day for Raiders today, practice didn’t start until 2:50 p.m.

Defensive end Lamarr Houston, who has been out virtually all of August, was back at practice today in full pads. Also returning was guard Lucas Nix, who is competing with Tony Bergstrom to be the starting left guard and has missed the last two sessions with an undisclosed injury.

It was the first training camp practice for linebacker Billy Boyko, an ultra-long shot to make the roster even before he came into camp with an undisclosed injury.

Cornerback Tracy Porter, who did not complete Monday’s practice, was not present as practice got underway Tuesday. Defensive tackles Pat Sims and Vance Walker, the presumptive starters, also were not practicing. Jacoby Ford is doing squats in the weight area.

– Veteran defensive end Andre Carter was a late arrival to practice and appears to be getting a veteran’s day off, as Woodson did Monday.

– The temperature as practice began approached 90 degrees, about as high as its been this season during a moderate camp in terms of weather.

Click here for today’s mid-day web story on tight end Jeron Mastrud, whose ability as an in-line blocker has had him working with the first team of late.

Just wondering if Tim Tebow is on your “wave of the future” list? Doesn’t he play the type of scheme you are referring to? A running qb?
    =======================

wave of the future isnt about ‘scheme’

and no tebow doesnt throw enough to fit into the group.

Why is everyone so hung up on trying to add to or take away for the group that i dubbed “the wave of the future”?

    why this discomfort?

Dude I spent a ton of time around that team, Rodney Knox was the PR director and a good friend of mine. I remember when we played the Niners in LA when Steve at QB he hung JR out to dry and TMcDaniel upended him and almost broke his neck. We beat them soundlyand after the game Ronnie Lott had to in their lockerroom to calm Charles Haley down who punch a hole in a wall. He wanted to ounch a hole in Steve Young.

Raider O Steve Young was a collosal bust in TB that is why Bill Walsh STOLE him and it took all of THREE YEARS just to get him ready to be a starter. At even then he started off uneven. Trust me I was a close to that team as I was the Raiders I had many friends on that team. Only a few saw the why Walsh was doing what he was doing to Montana. Most thought it was CRAZY!
    $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$

I was watching a show about young, and he said he wasn’t a good passer in TB and needed work. According to the show, most people thought he wasn’t going to last in the NFL because he ran wild and wasn’t a good passer.

is john elway a great nfl qb?

i would say so 2 sb trophies and hall of fame one day if he isnt already in (cant remember)

elways career spanned form 1983 through 1998

what do you think of these factoids haters?

elway only completed better than 60% of hiss passes in 3 of his 15 seasons

his best cmp percentage was 63% in 1993

in his superbowl victory season he was 58 and 59%

his rookie season he had 47 cmp% for the year!!!!

for 12 of elways 15 season he was under 60 % completions

4 of his 15 season he had more picks than tds

so why so harsh on pryor?

either answer these points or dont respond

    thanks in advance

You clearly have an agenda. To suggest that both QB’s might have something to offer is anethema to this blog.
Sack up, pick your horse an talk him up when your not tearing down the other one. That way, if you chose well, you can crow and strut and LOL endlessly at the clueless dweebs in the other camp and be the big man on campus on a frickin internet blog.
That’s the way it’s done here.
Either that, or you’re just a reasonable guy and we don’t want your kind here.
    ********************************************
LOL, yeah I’m new around here, still learning the system, guess I just need more reps — good thing we still have 3 more games so I can clean up some of this ‘reasonable’ stuff before the season starts. Lemme try again, how about something like:

“STFU you panzies, when I offer an opinion it is sacred truth and if you dare to disagree stop lying you trolling dumbazz loser moron and meet me at the nearest Burger King and I’ll mop the floor with your sorry racist Peyton Manning-loving creampuff stuffed azz, etc. etc….”

Something more like that maybe…? I’ll hire a coach to work on this stuff, years of bad habits won’t disappear overnight.

Ahh no. Blame is on todays NFL players being fragile. Who knew Watson would miss all this time…

But I agree with you , I think Regie will get harsh criticism based on having poor production on 3 out of his 4 first picks…

1- Wait and see player, injured a bit.
    2- Out
4- Being outplayed by a blue collar QB

1/2 of football no TD’s a fumble and an INT is what we got from Flynn and Pryor.

They both suck until they can prove otherwise.

What is te definition of a running QB on your book? Based on todays Read option qb’s?

All those I listed were running/scrambling QBs… When Elway arrived in the NFL, he was Dan Reeves running back/QB, ran all the time for first downs…

You better catch up on NFL history….

Running qbs have been since long time.

Anybody heard about #10 Fran Tarkenton in Minesota?

Running QBs have been here always…

JT,the difference is those guys scrambled to avert pressure and find receivers.A QB that would most resemble todays would probably be Bobby Douglas of the Bears or if you want to go way back-Frankie Albert of the whiners.
