Houston back at practice

Late day for Raiders today, practice didn’t start until 2:50 p.m.

Defensive end Lamarr Houston, who has been out virtually all of August, was back at practice today in full pads. Also returning was guard Lucas Nix, who is competing with Tony Bergstrom to be the starting left guard and has missed the last two sessions with an undisclosed injury.

It was the first training camp practice for linebacker Billy Boyko, an ultra-long shot to make the roster even before he came into camp with an undisclosed injury.

Cornerback Tracy Porter, who did not complete Monday’s practice, was not present as practice got underway Tuesday. Defensive tackles Pat Sims and Vance Walker, the presumptive starters, also were not practicing. Jacoby Ford is doing squats in the weight area.

– Veteran defensive end Andre Carter was a late arrival to practice and appears to be getting a veteran’s day off, as Woodson did Monday.

– The temperature as practice began approached 90 degrees, about as high as its been this season during a moderate camp in terms of weather.

Dude I spent a ton of time around that team, Rodney Knox was the PR director and a good friend of mine. I remember when we played the Niners in LA when Steve at QB he hung JR out to dry and TMcDaniel upended him and almost broke his neck. We beat them soundlyand after the game Ronnie Lott had to in their lockerroom to calm Charles Haley down who punch a hole in a wall. He wanted to ounch a hole in Steve Young.
    ===========
You, sir, are full of crap.
    that is not what happened.
Haley was POed that the niners lost to the raiders. Has stated it many times, as has Lott, and others.
Don’t insult everyone by saying Haley was all of a sudden out of control because he thought a qb should have done a better job, and happen to tell you, and only you, you bloated liar.
    ***********************************
Dr Slob, you knwo the media’s version of what happened I know the truth Charles had many fights on that team in fact I think it was Steve Young car that Charles pissed on. They had to get rid of Charles because he was soo violent. Steve almost had his face rearranged that day.

Vic Tafur ‏@VicTafur 1h Pryor not throwing the ball well today so far. No one is really, but Flynn has made fewest bad throws of top 3

Haley would stroll up to an unsuspecting (49er) teammate, whip out his phallus, and repeatedly stroke it in his face. Players initially laughed it off…

  • Priesttj12

Joe threw 300 2 yard TD passes. Most of his TD’s we’re checkdowns and Jerry and the gang ran the ball in. He never could hit anyone deep down the sideline. A 9route wasn’t in his vocabulary.

I’m having a hard time debating you on this because I’m laughing so hard. Montana threw a lot of deep balls. RG111 can only wish he is as accurate as Montana was.

The days of the slow pocket passer may go the same way as the one hand only dribbling set shot shooters of the 50’s. QB is the most important position on the offense and in many cases the team. Having a QB who’s one of the teams slowest and or worse athletes may be a thing of the past. Speedy super athletic QB’s negate speed rushers and create much more difficult match-up issues.
    *****************************************
Don’t say this tooo loud they’ll get mad. But statues are a thing of the past. Coaches want mobility even if it’s a medium mobility. The more athletic your QB is the better and Staubach showed you why 40 years ago.

These people want to make you believe if he’s athletic he can’t pass, so if he runs faster than them then get a slow white guy they feel more comfortable then.

If you cannot pass running will get you nowhere. You must be a good to great passer. The read/option,Pistol will not keep a QB healthy. All you need is a good passer that has good pocket presents and can move around in the pocket to evade rushers. The pure passer will never be replaced. Drew Brees is another QB that RG111 could learn from.

Whenever you people think athletic you think he’s black and he can’t pass. You stereotype everything. An athletic QB can throw just as well as a nonathletic QB. But some of you cannot grasp that simple fact. That’s why Warren Moon had to go to Canada because he ran a 4.6 40 and they wanted him to change positions……….lol

Dude I stood on the sidelines at practice and watched Joe. From the time he was a rookie he struggled throwing deep. Bill had to shorten routes and they took out the verticle game from the playbook. Because he was just too inaccurate deep. Evedrything was down the middle of teh field if it was deep………….period

  • PlunkforHOF

Lofty.. No way to tell at this point.

  • Priesttj12

Joe could NOT throw a 9route he never could his entire career. If it was along the sideline the deepest it would go is 20 yards and normally a 7route.

Ah, now we are at the heart of the matter with why my comments disturb you. I never said there isn’t room for athletic QBs black or white. I talking about RG111 only compared to the passing ability of Montana and Brady and Breese. In fact I believe Moon was a better passer than RG111 is. Moon is in the HOF. He didn’t get there by running all of the time.

You notice how whenever you talk about accurate pocket passers YOU NEVER mention the black QB’s who were extremely acccurate. Like Warren Moon, but when you talk about athletic average passers they are always BLACK. As if a white QB who’s athletic has NEVER been inaccurate. Same as when the media calls an athlete smart without exception he’s a white player.
