Practice begins in 30 minutes

Beat writer Jerry McDonald has the day off. Therefore, I will cover practice today from Napa. Among the many things we expect to see today is: the first full contact practice for cornerback D.J. Hayden since he suffered a torn vein last November.
Hayden nearly died as a result of a freak collision with a teammate during practice at the University of Houston a little more than nine months ago. He has not participated in a contact drill of any kind since that injury.
Raiders coach Dennis Allen said Saturday night that Hayden is cleared for practice and is ready to go full tilt today. We’re about to find out.
We’ll share Hayden’s thoughts on his first practice without wearing a red, non-contact jersey and what his teammates think of Hayden’s progress toward making an impact on the Raiders defense.
Also, follow me on Twitter and Tout — @corkonthenfl — for instant updates from the practice field, through videos, pictures and words.

exactly RaidO; But now he’s put a lot of those blitzes on tape for the rest of their opponents to study before the regular season starts, which will hurt them down the line.
    ——————

Not really. Nothing special about the blitzes. It’s just the Raider Oline sucks.

  • CDERaider

Holding out hope that with another top 3 pick next year and $40 mill under the cap, maybe just maybe we can entice a legit HC for next season. But with the poor financial shape this team is in, we probably can’t afford to payout DA his 3 additional years salary *and* pay top $$ for a legit coach. Raids are very much operating in the red.

    ————-
Mark has wisely hired a GM, and has since stayed in the back ground.
keep reading posters say “Mark will tell DA to start so and so.” or “Mark won’t put up with that.”

Mark knows he’s the least qualified owner out there.
His Dad did zero to prepare him, sad to say.
Mark doesn’t know a football from a foosball, and likely knows it.

He likely will never, ever overrule anything his GM or HC will ever do, because he’s just not qualified

    He knows that.
Many here refuse to know that.

Allen attempted to showcase him and it stunk to high heaven

5 sacks & 30 yards of offense through 28 mins of half 1.

Missed wide open guys and 2 near picks

Where did I make the claim that Denise fired Hue? I’ve already stated Grimmace is the major moron here. I feel bad for Denise at times.

Hue backstabbed. Listen, I would have kept the Cable/Hue/Marshall trio around, but obviously Al thought he couldn’t lose Hue, plus he saw the results of Hue’s offense, and probably figured he was the brains behind Cable’s 8-8 season. At least Hue was promoted based on achievements he reached & records set?

Again, such a brilliant move to fire him Grimmace. “My guy!” great logic to hire somebody.

    ——————————————–

Yeah, ‘My Guy’. Turns out he didn’t even have a ‘My Guy’. That whole reason for firing the current Hue was complete BS. He met DA at the combine and interviewed him once and then hired him and gave him a 5 year contract!! And don’t forget we had to pay Hue’s salary last year too as he was still under his 2 year deal.

When Reggie took over we’re 8-8 and barely missed playoffs 2 years in a row, with an exciting young coach and a top 10 offense.

Now, we have the worst HC in the league, and we’re about to go 4-12 for the 2nd straight year (if not 2-14) and there is no light at the end of the tunnel.

    =====================

4-12? Wow! I’m thinking we top out at 2. Loved Grimmace’s excuse, 1 of many, from last year when he said, “Well we are all rookies at this”, then maybe you should’ve hired someone experienced like Fisher moron.

  • CDERaider

DA showed again why he’s not qualified to be a HC in the Saints debacle. He *should* have known that Payton was going to play all out – the Saints have a reputation of blitzing and taking home run shots in the preseason especially at home. DA should have known that and had the team prepared to counter or at least hang tough, he was on their staff for 5 frikn years!! But they weren’t prepared as usual and got embarrassed on both sides of the ball, as usual..

Payton told Ryan to back off only after the beat down was complete – in order to let his little protege Tits get a little relief. Tits was ready to suck his balls after the game, thanking him for the spanking.. Like his warm and fuzzy gratitude to John Fox after being embarrassed last year – twice.

He’s just trying to maintain his kiss ass status so when he’s fired he can go back and ask for a job.

  • RaiderTater

Mistic-just saying that no one should mention stats about pretty much anyone in preseason, TP included.

After what happened in the first half, I would have been PO’ed if TP wasn’t given a different game plan, with the idea of “get the hell out of the pocket, because there isn’t one, and get rid of the ball if there in no lane. Don’t get hurt”.

Preist went balistic, saying TP should have been getting calls that left him in that collapsing pocket?

Why? Why do that to the guy?

Same with Flynn. After getting all that pressure, forget anything except a 3 step drop, get rid of it, and stay off your back.
Preseason isn’t for stats, or wins.

Speaking of blitz protection — or lack there of — I’ve seen at least two plays that look like the RB should’ve had responsibility to pick up the delayed blitzer. Both times I saw DMac completely not notice and try to slip out of the backfield as an outlet.

Now (as the thing from Bilichik above stats) we can’t know exactly who was responsible and broke down. But it still looks like besides being shutdown in the ground game, DMac is also not doing his job in pass protection.

Sadly, the team rejiggered the blocking to suit him. At this point, that doesn’t appear to be paying off. It’ll be interesting to see if he starts losing more and more starters reps to Jennings if the latter shows more ability to pick up his pass blocking assignments.

Hell, the Davis family only owns like 35% of the team anyway, I’ve been told. It’s controlling interest, but they are minority as far as the percentage of ownerships involved. Tiger could pay Mark $300 million out of his offshore bank accounts in cash and the NFL, LA and big time sponsors would be coming out of the woodwork to back a move to LA and a new stadium. I would prefer Oakland as well but that ain’t gonna happen. It’s a mess….

As long as the Raiders stay in Oakland, they are doomed. The city is in shambles and the finances simply don’t pencil, even with a new stadium (which they won’t be able to fill or get people to buy PSL’s anyway, even if they could build it, which they can’t). The last hope for the Raiders to stay in the bay was to share the Santa Clara stadium and Mark screwed that up when he had the chance thinking that he knew what the hell he was doing and could get his own stadium done, and he doesn’t. Kind of like the current GM and the HC. Lost in space.

Raiders are going to be in Oakland in O.co losing money year after year until Mark sells the team and that’s all there is to it. He’s not cut out to be an owner anyway, he’s a spoiled brat that never learned how to run any kind of business, he’ll sell.

  • RAIDERMAN99

Been telling you people that Tits Allen is the worst HC in the NFL for quite some time now.

Was hoping the lactating loser might improve, but I’ve given up on that.

Every day that goes by just provides more evidence how fkng lost Tits is.

Give you some more examples (as if there haven’t been enough already).

Barron still being trotted out at LT ?

There’s no fkng way Barron can start at LT.

Tits will wind up moving Barnes to LT and throwing anyone at RT – Bergstrom, Smith, Watson – doesn’t matter. Can NOT have Barron at LT.

The only other real option is to sign a FA.

It’ll take Tits a few weeks to realize this.

    Another reason Tits sucks…

Want you to think about the allotment of QB playing time in N.O.

If Tits didn’t have his head up his azz, he’d think a little bit out of the box, not go with NFL pre-season convention of playing 3 QBs, and would have given TP the entire second half.

Absolutely NO POINT in giving McGloin more time than TP.

Tits needs to be getting TP ready, bcz if Flynn goes down or gets benched, TP is coming in. NOT Mcgloin.

No vision or plan from Tits. Same as last year when TP was INACTIVE virtually the entire season. For who ? Matt Lice ? Did Tits think ML was going to be on the roster in 2013 ? Did he consider that CP might not be on the roster in 2013 ? A HC with some vision would have been actively attempting to develop TP last year. Tits did nothing. Tits doesn’t have a clue.

Tits is just beginning to realize the RAID front 4 can’t rush the passer.

    That’s fkng hilarious.

Here’s how it works in the NFL folks – a HC that knows what he’s doing works in CONJUNCTION with his GM.

Now if Tits had a freaking clue, he’d have been telling RM that the RAIDS had to bring in some pass rushers. Not maybe bring some rushers in, insisting on it, demanding it.

Could have signed Abraham, Osi or SOMEONE.

Blame Reggie for doing nothing. But don’t kid yourself that Tits is blameless.

I’ll bet anything that dumbazz Tits thought he could scheme his way to some QB sacks and didn’t realize how incredibly bad our pass rush was going to be.

Folks, we’re headed for 2-14 and although it’s not ALL Tits’ fault – he’s a major part of the problem.

TA IS THE WORST HC IN THE NFL.

ALSO NOTE Pryor’s long completion was 9 yards…Flynn’s TD pass was twice as long as that.

PRYER the Great runner…4 rushes for 15 yards 3.8 per rush…

    Flynn 1 rush for 4 yards…4 yards per Rush…
