Raiders claim Thomas

A press release from the Raiders:

The Oakland Raiders have claimed LB Chase Thomas via waivers, General Manager Reggie McKenzie announced Tuesday.

The 6-foot-3, 241-pound Thomas originally signed with the New Orleans Saints as an undrafted free agent in April and was waived by the team on Monday.

Thomas appeared in 52 games over four seasons at Stanford, making 47 starts. He recorded 229 tackles, 27.5 sacks, 50.5 tackles for loss, two interceptions, nine forced fumbles and four fumble recoveries.

During his senior campaign, the Marietta, Ga., native finished second on the team with 71 tackles, tied for second with 14.5 tackles for loss, 7.5 sacks, one interception, four passes defensed, one forced fumble and two fumble recoveries. He was an All-Pac 12 first-team choice for the second-consecutive season.

To create space on the roster, the Raiders waived/injured T John Wetzel.

Yeah you guys are right putting in our backup QB will solve all of the many problems our team has.

Why didn’t coach think of that?

You dorks should be a GM for someone with your vast football knowledge.

Ok Dr. robert, the result of childhood neglect loves Flynn, hates Pryor, and plays strat-o-matic and never misses dr. Phil
    *********
    Yeah yeah. But I’m right.

  • Myopinion

Flynn is a good move regardless if hes #2
Wed be starting an unknown in tp
He did a pretty good job with russel wilson
and being a mobile qb team, its good to have a solid backup
flynn is pretty much the perfect guy to bring tp along
I assume he is very smart being his atletic ability isnt that high.

kind of a boring argument.. Reggie brought in his guy to run his system. he’s clearly a system quarterback..

and until Flynn gets hurt TP will be a package guy.. which seems pointless to me because we obviously don’t understand the pistol offense.. all we run is read option.

On another note, what do the bay area pundits say about the the team…and please no rick bucher comments guy is strictly bball.

You guys are nuts if you don’t think the HC recognizes that he needs the trust of his team. The trust of his coaches.

He is not going to start Flynn is the choice should obviously be Pryor.

i think friday night was allens cold shower so to speak

he must have looked at phlegm and realized that they couldnt win with this skittish deer at the watering hole looking qb hearing foot steps and seeing ghost in the pocket.

I mean this dude was checking down without so much as even a cursory glance down the field!!!

pryor wasnt allens choice, but he will need him
    ==========================================

So they put in another guy, who went 1 for 5,for no yards, fumbled a snap right to him and had his second red zone INT in two quarters go right thru the hands of an incredulous defender. And this is an improvement how?

U guys sound exactly like so many moms I’ve had come to me and say ” ur not being fair to my son. He’s so good. I f u would just play him more, u would see.”

To which I reply “he needs to prove himself in practice. Then he will play more. If he plays well when he’s in, he will play even more.”

It’s really simple. Earn it. Don’t whine about it.

Someone once said that the most popular player on any losing team is the backup QB…

Silver and black is another loser, lack of any cognitive football knowledge and probably plays Diablo 24/7

12-16 got him 4-5 punts and one pretty nice drive with a 3 TD deficit….
    *********
No. A porous line got him that.

Or a poor signal/protection scheme caller did that to himself. Plenty.
There were plenty of crappy blocks to go around for sure. But he looked REALLY bad at his pre-snap stuff and post snap hot reads. That’s what I’m saying.

He HAS to be better than that to succeed. The WCO HAS to have a guy at the LOS who can read and react better than what Flynn showed me against NO. HAS TO….

  • elraidmanhattan

Probably will be a 4-12 season, but at least we won’t have the Danny Clark crap that states the defense will be special

    ……………………………………………….

I should be a GM. I have been watching pro football longer than most GMs have been alive.

But the NFL is really simple. It’s a quarterback and offensive tackle drive league.

We don’t have any offensive tackles now. God help our quarterbacks.

  • elraidmanhattan

Please see my past posts… i was clear this year is just a progression to 2014 so clearly obvious. More the reason to stop the facade and let Pryor get experience

  • iowaraider

It does not matter who starts at QB as bad as the line is. I see 4 ,repeat 4, max wins for this turd of a team this year no matter whose hands are massaging Wiz’s rear end.

  • Al_is_theraiders

the reggies off season tslent pickups made up of scrubs….shrek questions are…
    1) are you slow
    2) have you ever played for DA or the packers?
    3) do you have a history of injuries?
    4) are you currently on a practice squad?
    5) if not have you played i. the last year?
    6) do you ever wish you were taller? stronger?

    if yes, then youre hired.

  • DJ Johnny

Problem with 2014 is the thinking that simply becuz Reggie has a lot of cap space and a full compliment of picks that it can translate to anything.

    See the Browns and Jags.

It’s on Reggie to make the right decisions.

Cap space? Great but it doesn’t guarantee squat.

He’s got to make some progress THIS yr.

    Not SB…PROGRESS!

  • RaiderRich510

Brice Butler And Sio Moore are the only upsides to this season, Hayden is still questionable, but I think he is gonna be a Champ Bailey type Corner. The rest of the team is in shambles. I mean how bad were we when we signed Carson? We sucked, and he came in and made DHB look good. 4k Passing season was unheard of here. So my point is, WHen we get a REAL QB behind the center. Then will this franchise flourish, you keep sticking guys that arent establ. QB ‘s in this league, you are gonna have problems. Watch, Flynn is gonna take a half hour getting to the endzone, plus receivers are gonna get pissed when they create separation, and flynn cant deliver. Defense is gonna be our backbone. But our offense? Mc fadden goes down and who do we have?
