Flynn to sit out Seattle game _ tendonitis

Quarterback Matt Flynn will sit out the Raiders final preseason game with tendonitis in his throwing arm, with Terrelle Pryor starting Thursday night against the Seattle Seahawks, coach Dennis Allen said.

Flynn, who was 3-for-6 for 19 yards with two interceptions, also had tendonitis issues last season with Seattle, during which time Russell Wilson seized the starting position.

Allen said he still has not made up his mind regarding a Week 1 starter against the Indianapolis Colts, and that he wants to get Flynn’s arm up to speed before making a decision.

according to Gil Brandt, who’s really experty, Allen getting 4 wins last year with the talent on the roster was Coach of the Year worthy.

John Fox’s Panthers also looked like they had no heart when he was fired.

You need talent. Bottom line. Hard for 53 guys to decide to play extrahard when constantly getting pysically beat down.

  • SnBG

START PRYOR IN THE REGULAR SEASON ALSO.

  • alex7

I would say most bad teams (Lions, Cardinals, Browns, Bills, Jaguars) don’t look like they’re playing with “heart” (whatever that means).

Talented teams look like they’re playing aggressive and with “heart”, because they’re playing better.

I know I always have to break the news to this blog, but the Raiders will never contend with Dennis Allen as the HC.

Another good position coach who is out of his depth as a HC…..

Tendonitis, really? That just sounds like DA is trying to avoid MF getting exposed. And what if Pryor plays well? Then what? Does he still go with Flynn in the opener? Or does he still use the tendonitis excuse for Flynn?

I bet this is just a way for him to go either way and save face in the process. Having Flynn sit avoids a big issue for him.
    ——————-

Either way with this “elbow” issue Flynn will never make it through the season. Flynn is done. Unless this is all just a cover. I would not expect Flynn to play like nothing is wrong with is elbow in the future. He supposedly had the same issue last year when Wilson beat him out.
Dude can’t throw over 25 yards anyways. With a bad elbow he has no chance.

Pryor is the Raiders starting QB for the 2013 season

So far all TEs still on team,

We cut four WRs, Cribbs, Session, McGuffie, Williams.

Increased reps should improve WRs performance and give coaches better understanding of who to keep.

has a new list out! Favorite Al moves of the last decade.

    1) Trade: 2nd round pick for 8 games of DeAngelo Hall.
    2) Hire: Art Shell as HC, bed and breakfast as OC.
    3) Draft: DHB over Percy Harvin, Crabtree, and Hakeem Nicks.
    4) Trade: 1st round pick for twilight of Seymour career.
    5) Cap management: Wimbley goes from $800,000 to $7 million due to error.
    6) Cap management: Tommy Kelly is NFL’s highest-paid DT.
    7) Draft: Jamarcus over Peterson and Calvin Johnson.
    8) Blame: Fires Norv Turner, Turner wins 2 playoff games with Chargers the very next season.
    9) Pettiness: Doesn’t allow HC Kiffin to bring Monte Kiffin to run D. Sticks with Rob Ryan.
    10) Draft strategy: Asks scouts who hardest-hitting safety in draft is. When they say Derrick Gibson, drafts him in 1st round against scouts’ wishes.
    …………………………………………….

Nice. Al really was an idiot.

Up until this last game Pryor had not outplayed Flynn in games or in the camp. Flynn is still the presumptive starter with Pryor coming on strong. There’s no bungling here. Pryor is just starting to playing well and are opening the eyes of the coaching staff. Same as in Seattle when Wilson beat out Flynn. In fact it’s becoming eerily similar

  • alex7

I hope Pryor tears it up vs the Seahawks. 10 boring Raider seasons in a row…

I think you are completely right about this. Regardless of what Pryor does on Thurs I would all but bet the house that Flynn starts the season opener in Indy. Which is kind of interesting. Allen and McKenzie have really bungled this and turned it into a full blown controversy two weeks before the season is starting which is probably the worst thing that can happen.

I do think they wanted a “real” competition, but then they should have had Flynn start against Dallas, Pryor start against New Orleans, Flynn start against Chicago and then make a decision.

    —————–

How can you say they wanted a real competition yet act as if they werent in control of who was starting in those games?

Two reasons: lst the claimed they wanted a “competition” and secondly, Flynn was continually outgunned against better competition while Pryor came in with better supporting cast against weaker competition. So, not only did a “true” competition not exist, but it also appeared that Pryor was excelling at times while Flynn was stuggling. It would have been nice to see Pryor have to go against Will Smith, Julius Peppers with no blocking, starting corners against our guys, and no run game.
