Wilson, Kluwe off the roster

The Raiders have apparently reduced their glut of quarterbacks and punters by waiving fourth-round draft pick Tyler Wilson and releasing punter Chris Kluwe.

The Raiders have not announced any transactions, but are expected to do so later Sunday. Profootballtalk.com reported Wilson would be waived, and Kluwe congratulated Marquette King on his Twitter account on winning the punting job.

Wilson performed well in offseason, non-contact workouts but was outperformed by Matt McGloin, an undrafted free agent out of Penn State. He becomes the second member of the draft class to be waived, along with seventh-round selection David Bass.

Bass was claimed off waivers by the Chicago Bears. Wilson, if he were to unclaimed, could be added to the Raiders practice squad. The Raiders paid Wilson a $491,000 signing bonus.

I had him on my 53.

As soon as the stat came out that he only had like 5 pressures on 57 snaps, coupled with the GMs comments on scouring the waiver wire, it’s not THAT hard to see why he got cut.

We already signed someone who graded out better and is 40lbs heavier.

That’s not what I saw on rotoworld regarding pass rush. But whatever, hopefully you’re right. Not like I’ve ever seen the guy play or anything.

    >>>>

    +3.5 for run defense.

Reggie is obsessed with stopping the run… I guess this makes sense. Bass would prolly just been a 3rd down pass rush guy. Reggie see’s no value in that.

I don’t think he drafted or picked up a single guy on defense not known mostly for run defense.

Agreed. Although, none of us are mad at cutting loses.

What we are mad at, is that this never should have been a issue to begin with. Drafting Wilson made ZERO sense.

And it only proves now what the conspiracy guys thought all along. They wanted to push Pryor out. He was not in their plans. They havent ever really gotten behind the guy.

Name one other player that could earn their starting role on team, much less a roster spot, without some sort of support from management/coaches.

Great we have 60 million in cap money next year with no players to sign, or very few.

So has a raider nation we panic for clarity on draft choices who get cut and shake our heads on keeping two punters and four qb’s.

Needs not addressed like DL, Ol and yet were looking at a 5 year rebuild and I think they believe the Raiders front office that the rebuild starts next year, so this year and last was a waste.
