Raiders sign OT Tony Pashos

The Raiders added another tackle to their thin offensive line Monday with the addition of veteran Tony Pashos.

Pashos, 33, has played in 89 games with 67 starts with the Baltimore Ravens (2003 through 2006), Jacksonville Jaguars (2007-2008), San Francisco 49ers (2009) and Cleveland Browns (2010-2011).

He was an offseason addition with the Washington Redskins before being released.

Pashos started 12 games for the Browns in 2011 and 31 of 32 games for Jacksonville in 2007 and 2008.

With the Raiders waiving Alex Barron to make room for Pashos, they still have only three healthy offensive tackles. The other two are starters Menelik Watson and Khalif Barnes.

Jared Veldheer is out following surgery with a torn triceps and is eligible to be , designated for return list Tuesday, meaning he will miss a minimum of seven games. That would open up an additional roster spot.

    I don’t see the offense doing well at all except for a few games where Pryor pops… Reggie didn’t lift a finger to improve the offense.

    WTF are you talking about.New T @ the start of rd 2,New WR,New QBs,better BU RB.All moves to improve the offense.

    Uhh, our QB’s are worse… perhaps worst in the NFL instead of middle. What new WR??? The injured undrafted guy??

    Jennings and Watson is going to IMPROVE our offense?

    No way they can realistically start Flynn this week and expect anything but disaster – with his fragile arm (and ego) and the oline in such disarray.. Throw Pryor out there and let him run around and at least not get killed. If Olsen can call the right plays and involve DMAC, Reese and the TE’s properly, Pryor can succeed by running and the short passing game – at least be able to move the chains and keep possession. Let Seabass kick hella field goals and hope our D can bend and not break..

    With Flynn in there, there is no chance.

    the only thing the defense ain’t stopped is the boot-legs and the outside runs. that can be fixed. front four looked pretty good. the secondary will be good.
    the concern is scoring points. but coach says we been playing vanilla so that should ease that concern.

    ===

    Sad thing is that Geno is a good deal smarter than Pryor and does a better job reading. He generated more of his success in college sitting in the pocket than he did running. He has much better mental tools to adapt to the NFL than Pryor does. Sorry if you don’t like that answer.

    Sorry, playing quarterback in the NFL is not rocket science.

    See, Bradshaw, Terry.

    ===

    Bradshaw played in the 70s when it was a very different game. Few specialist, smaller playbooks, way less complex defenses.

    Show me one QB of Bradshaw’s intellect that has been a top 10 in the 2000’s.

    The closest I can come up with is Vince Young, and he was a flash in the pan. Once teams knew what to look for (and when he no longer had the #1 running game) he was exposed for being too mentally slow to handle what the defenses threw at him.

    Regarding Manziel…

    This kid comes off as batschit crazy with his trash talking and antics. The lack of respect to Sumlin was disgusting.

    Don’t know if he realizes or even cares that his nonsense is going to cost him millions if he doesn’t grow up.

    I was reluctant to accept that Manziel was such a dikhead and thought the media was overblowing things.

    After watching his display against Rice, I’m now convinced this cat is borderline nuts.

    That being said, the only doubt I have about his ability on the field is his height.

    His arm is plenty strong.

    He’s got perhaps the quickest feet of any QB I’ve ever seen.

    His field vision while on the move is spectacular.

    His accuracy is superb.

    The height concerns me as does the amount of scrambling he does – but this fkng guy can play.

    Don’t care what anyone says. He can bring it.

    Coach Dennis Allen said Monday he will not say whether Terrelle Pryor or Matt Flynn will start the season opener at Indianapolis until game time for “competitive” reasons.
    Pryor did take the first snap with the first-team offense during a drill in the portion of practice open to the media. Flynn is healthy after missing last week with a sore right elbow.

    ===

    Interesting that he shows Pryor as a starter in the media open session, says he won’t name a starter, and then closes practice for the real drills. Subterfuge 101.

    Anyone that believes that this means Pryor starts for sure shares his intellect. Those that then go on to crow about what is a non-fact as if they’ve won something might not even be as smart Pryor.

    None of us know. Anyone that claims to is a pretender.

    I never thought anyone would select Wilson, I tried to tell you guys early about Wilson. People made a lot of excuses for him in his senior year. His junior year he had rec’s running wide open and HB’s and TE’s helped him look better than he was. I saw a huge dropoff after Mallett left.

    The production was there but nothing all that earth shattering. I saw him in the senior blow his best pass is a 15 yard out and he can throw well on the move. But just ask him to throw downfield and his skeletons show up.

    There were rumors that he wasn’t the sharpest tool in the shed. It showed everyone talked about his toughness in the pocket OK so was does that mean?? When his supporting cast left and he had to get it done with lessor talent he couldn’t………period

    How people just anointed him a possible starter was the biggest JOKE going. Jerry and Cork were touting McGloin and Wilson as wiz kids and when I saw them again I saw what I always thought. Nothing really special. Not saying both wont have decent careers but man were they easily pleased.

    This one idiot continues to recite his idiot enuendo that TP is mentally slow. Dude take a good look in the mirror there’s a reason you’re the only one there as everyone else has moved on and seeing things for what they are. Yet you keep waving this flag of prejudice. TP didn’t go from 3rd to 1st in one offseason being slow……….however I will consider the source……..lol

    If indeed TP is the starter and we’ll know by Thursday evening without a doubt because that’s when they installation has taken place and gameplans are set. On Friday morn the speculation will have ended. I may have to get my Jag tix after all. I cannot attend games like I used to so I go to a select few. But I may have to go to that one can wait to see TP get down again that Bears game was spectacular. He is worth the price of admission, Trust me!
