Tight end David Ausberry and kicker Sebastian Janikowski are the only two players on the 53-man roster not practicing Wednesday.
Backup safety Usama Young returned to practice, and he appears good to go for Sunday’s regular-season opener against the Indianapolis Colts.
The same can’t be said of Janikowski and Ausberry, at least for now. Coach Dennis Allen speaks with the media in about 90 minutes or so, and he might have updates on his injured players.
Ausberry is on the practice field, but he is working off to the side with a team trainer. He has been out with a shoulder injury he suffered against the New Orleans Saints in an exhibition game.
There is no definitive word on what ails Janikowski. The Raiders signed Justin Medlock before their exhibition game against the Seattle Seahawks and let Medlock fill in for Janikowski that game.
Medlock was waived Saturday. That signals that the Raiders are confident Janikowski will be ready to go against the Colts.
As for the quarterback situation, it remains to be seen whether Allen will name a starter. Terrelle Pryor took the first rep with the first-team offense Monday.
