Major change coming in blog commenting

The system used for years that allowed readers to comment on our blogs is on its way out. This is a heads up for everyone to be on the lookout for the major change.
Also, if you want to read any old comments, do so soon, for they will be purged once the change is made.

Some of the other blogs already made the conversion. The Raiders blog is on deck, so to speak.

For more about the change, here’s what colleague David Pollak posted last Friday, as he he made the switch:

“The Bay Area News Group is in the process of installing software designed to make it easier to regulate the online back-and-forth that can sometimes get out of hand. As a consequence, all the comments posted in past years soon will be gone.

Going forward, registration is required — either through the Disqus system we’re using or your Twitter, Facebook or Google+ identity. You’ll be asked to sign up, one way or another, when you attempt to post your first comment.

That alone is designed to help keep the conversation more responsible. But there are also mechanisms in place that make it easier for me to regulate the content, plus the opportunity for you to vote comments up or down. Here are some of the other features, as explained to me:

“Readers can get email alerts when people comment on threads they’re interested in, and there are other features that make it easier to share comments on social networks and see which stories have active commenting threads.”

The change is coming soon. I will alert you when it’s official. In the interim, things remain the same for now.

Dr. Nice retort,. I am sure some daft people here like to play good cop bad cop, also write a comment and respond to it under another handle, purely moronic

According to Colts owner Jim Irsay, the team has a big move in the works.

On Wednesday afternoon, Irsay tweeted that there was an announcement coming soon and then followed that up a short time with another bit of his inimitable verse that referred to “this day of monster trade.”

The Colts have said they plan to make a move at running back in the wake of losing Vick Ballard for the season. Irsay’s tweets could be the first sign that they’ve reached a deal to bring in some backfield help or there could be something else in the works to shock the system in Indianapolis.

This day of MONSTER TRADE,The Tidal Wave Of Deal making…Shocks the system of “..Didn’t see THIS ONE COMING!!!!!!” Grig’s Rollin’ Dice!

The Cleveland Browns have traded former first-round pick Trent Richardson to the Indianapolis Colts for a first-round pick, according to a league source.

  • elraidmanhattan

Please Irsay overstates things for attention, maybe he is going to coax jim brown out of retirement

  • inonewordraider

why would the browns trade this guy, is he hurt? problems off the field? his back up better?

  • elraidmanhattan

Holmgren did some job for the browns lol

  • the famous dr robert

wow. looks like cleveland is selling out quickly to go for the #1 pick next year.

they dump their #1 rb (last year’s #3 overall) for what will be a middle-of-the-first next year, and they go with hoyer.

jax and cle are going to be sucking hard.

  • elraidmanhattan

On another note, if you are starting hoyer..your in deep doo doo

  • elraidmanhattan

Dr, Cleveland is cleaning house, sure this is the first of more moves to come

  • elraidmanhattan

Take a guess why holmgren is out of work

  • RaiderRetribution

    Good trade for both teams;

Indy needs a rushing weapon, they have the QB & WRs/TEsYGood trade for both teams,
, they are a superbowl contender.

Cleveland needs a QB, two first round draft picks assures them of being able to move up to get one; although w/o Richardson they just finish worse than Jacksonville. Get the #1 overall anyway.

Bryant just might be wishing he resigned with the Raiders now.

  • jumpnjiminy

Cleveland should’ve kept Colt McCoy as their starter.

We don’t win at least two more games (before the bye week) vs Denver, Washington, San Diego, Kansas City; we probably trading McFadden next.

  • jumpnjiminy

I want to win with Pryor, but if we lose Monday, we could then start McGloin…we’ll show Cleveland how it’s done!

This is why I’m a huge fan of TP as opposed to some previous you know who QB here in Raiderland. The man understands leadership and accountability.
