Paths cross again for Woodson, Manning

Charles Woodson, and Peyton Manning, two of the most decorated and respected players in the NFL, meet on the field for only the fifth time Monday night at Sports Authority Field.

Click here to read about two players who competed for the Heisman Trophy in 1997 and then four months later sat in the same green room for the NFL draft.

Manning went No. 1 to the Colts, Woodson No. 4 to the Raiders. In between, the San Diego Chargers took Ryan Leaf and the Arizona Cardinals selected defensive end Andre Wadsworth of Florida State. Leaf was derailed by his own maturity and personality, while Wadsworth had bad knees and was out of the league in four years.

In terms of head-to-head meetings, Woodson was 2-1 against Manning with the Raiders and 1-0 with the Packers, all against the Colts.

Peyton Manning by the numbers
60,256 _ Passing yards, third all-time
445 _ Touchdown passes, second all-time
156 _ Regular-season wins, second all-time
37 _ TD passes in 2012, set Broncos record
12 _ Pro Bowl selections
4 _ Most Valuable Player awards
XLI _ Super Bowl champion, 2006 season

Charles Woodson by the numbers

55 _ Interceptions, second among active players.
15 _ Consecutive seasons with an interception, fourth-all-time
13 _ Defensive touchdowns, second all-time
8 _ Pro Bowl selections
1 _ Defensive player of the Year award
XLV _ Super Bowl champion, 2010 season

“For Manning to find Thomas, Denver must fend off Lamarr Houston. The Raiders pass rusher ranks fourth among all 4-3 defensive ends, per Pro Football Focus, and second in the NFL with 12 quarterback hurries.”

PFF?? The service that isn’t the “end all and be all” of stats (even though nobody has yet to provide a BETTER one)?

Nobody seems to like it when I use it pointing out how former Raiders that Reggie dumped are doing… psst:

    Bryant: +1.8
    DHB: +1.5
    Kelly: +.5
    CP: +3.3
    Lechler: +10.9

    @@@@@@@@@

Wow. Another stat Palmer seems to excel at while choking away games. He’s truly a facking magician.

  • the amazing dr robert

In betting Ross gets our first pick.

DHB has thrown some mean blocks in Indy.

Wait, they didn’t convert him to TE?

HeyBeyBey flashes some nice hands in that SF/Indy game

no body catches. caught the ball with his hands and caught it in stride. excellent speed. top notch blocker

Another man with PDS. Palmer Derangement Syndrome.

(BTW, I am fine with him being gone… I have let it go. Maybe you should try it too sometime? JUST LET IT GO. Palmer isn’t a great QB, but not horrible either.)

You guys are seriously delusional fans if you “have no doubt” that the Raiders will win tonight. You are not a bad fan just because you are realistic…

Raiders have about a 1% chance of pulling off a win. Manning is going to pick our defense apart!

    Denver 35 / Raiders 17 – Broncos will be up 14-0 in 1st quarter

What the heck. I’ll stick with Hayden ’till I’m right.
Not the best game to do so, but no guts, no glory.

He’s horrible. Skilled, but horrible. Constantly finds ways to lose. I won’t let it go till he retires. Hopefully December 2013.

We trained him up well for them, didn’t we? I sure hope we don’t become the NFL’s version of the Royals under Reggie.

We sign young players, train them, then get rid of em right before they get good to save money under the “GB WAY.”

    All hail Reggie.

Division game in Nawlin’s? Might be his worst game of the year.
Not much ’till the game was out of hand, then a couple nice plays and a couple picks does make some here look almost credible.
    Excluding Miss Tick, of course.

Yup… the “Bad Carson.” He might never be your QB playing from behind to a good team.

But as horrible as the USC haters here make him out to be?

I thought he should have ended up in Minn… I watched Ponder yesterday. Now THAT is a horrible QB.

    Rock, I kid Darrius.

I was upset we let him go, but we couldn’t keep a guy like that for that pricetag.

I would say his pay is now sort of commensurate with his play.

Nope, but where is Mistic “The IQ Vacuum?”

The “new wave” of QBs are pretty much sinking to the bottom of PFF.

Pryor, Kap, and Griffin, are all in the bottom 10 right now.

Cams at least 15th, Wilson 11th… but Kap and Griffin are 32nd and 33rd.

The player we might end up regretting the most letting go might be Lecher.

Especially if Jani suddenly gets the yips again with a new holder.

  • elraidmanhattan

I expect the raiders to play violent tonight, expecting a couple of old time jack tatum hits. D will play with a chip on it’s shoulder a reflection of tarver.

  • raiderjhawk

Lechler had his first punt returned for a td this weekend didn’t he?

  • elraidmanhattan

Jhawk, sorry you were not the intended target, the non-raider fan was.

  • LA to TheBay

Ohio State doesn’t have a history of producing NFL QBs. Then again the University of ______ didn’t have a history of producing _______ until they produced one.

Pryor has talent, work ethic and will get a shot. He’ll get experience and I think the GM, coaches are ready to roll with him on a fairly long leash.
