Ausberry to IR, Mady promoted

By Jerry McDonald - NFL Writer
Monday, September 23rd, 2013 at 3:14 pm in Oakland Raiders.

Whatever progress tight end David Ausberry has made with his injured shoulder hasn’t been enough, with the Raiders opting to place the veteran on injured reserve and promote guard Lamar Mady from the practice squad.

Ausberry has been consistently listed as the first-team tight end throughout his injury. Jeron Mastrud has been the Raiders starter, with rookie Mychal Rivera’s role mostly as a pass receiver.

Mex- I really like Rivera, very good hands elusive great pick by Reg.

I like him too but he needs to improve when his involved in the blocking game.
do you like him more then Zack Miller?

Defensive player of the game for the Raiders:
    Marquette King

He’ll be the only thing that makes the ball go in the right direction for the Raiders tonight.

Dilfer called it the Saturday offense!

    LOL!

Dr. Dilfer says pryor a work in progress but sees he can be a long term starter

When is Butler going to replace Moore?

  • elraidmanhattan

Mex Rivera is more hybrid, miller was a true TE. Howver I see real potential big potential

    Pashos
    Olawale

    Walker

    Woodson

Another bubble player maybe not back next year:

    Porter

Wind favors Manning. He’s thrown in it a lot. TP still untested in all conditions.
Worse than that is Seabass. If it should come to pass that we can win with a 3 pointer, we all know Seabass has been having doubts since he lost Lechler. The wind will be one more thing in his head.

Yes I know. Lots of media have said that.

    I don’t agree.

    We will see.

Seabass, for all his accuracy, chokes on the big ones. Really, remember any clutch kicks he hit? He always hits the friggin uprights or something.

Given where he started and where he’s currently at, he’s on trajectory to become a legit starter in only another 8-10 years. Good thing he’s young.

Rivera slid to the late rounds because he isn’t a blocker.

The reason I predicted Reggie to draft him was the similarities with Packers TE Jermichael Finley – all catch, no block, but worth it if you’re in passing mode.

  • elraidmanhattan

Damn still over an hour till game time, quoting Bart scott..can’t wait

  • elraidmanhattan

Alex-correct,, still a very good pick better hands than finley

  • http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nNoi_wwzbtQ Zymurge

@114 – no kidding, eh Alex.

The best ones are the constants:

    - IF Pryor can just learn to throw a ball
    - IF Pryor can learn to read a defense
    - IF Pryor can learn to stop making dumb mistakes

What you all really mean is, “If Pryor can just be like Manning …” as if it’s so easy to learn these things, let alone three years into an NFL career that shows you haven’t got these fundamentals down yet.

But man, he sure can run fast. How’s that working out across the bay these days?

The problem is that when you have an all run, no throw QB you want the opposite skill set in your QB.

    Hard to dislike Belichick:

    Q. How close was Rob Gronkowski to playing yesterday?

BB. I don’t know. He was inactive.

    Q. Did he have a shot to play?

    BB. He was inactive.

    Q. Going into the day, was there a chance he’d play?

BB. He was inactive for the game.

    Q. What about Danny Amendola?

    BB. He was inactive too.

    Q. I know they were inactive.

BB. They were inactive so they didn’t play.

    Q. I think you have an idea how close they were.

BB. Well, they weren’t able to play. What do you want, percentage points? They couldn’t play.

    Q. Going into the day, did you know they couldn’t play?

    BB. They were inactive.

    Q. That doesn’t answer my question.

BB. They were inactive, it’s as simple as that.

Most of Manning’s throws are ducks.

    Rarely a spiral.

    Always on the mark tho.

Might as well warm up the anti-Flynn comments now. We’re going to see him come into this game in mop up duty after Pryor’s 3rd pick.

[for the record, I predicted this outcome days before Dr. Rob did :-]

  • Marks hair

manning plays for the donkeys.. you “fans” might wanna start cheering for your qb. T. Pryor..

When Reggie drafted Rivera, either Palmer or Flynn was our assumed starter, so guessing Reggie figured we’d be 3-wide spread offense.

Hey Inside The Raiders Blog gang. Shootgap.com – a fan/blog site for NFL fan chats has just posted an article I submitted last night on the Raiders vs. Broncos MNF tussle.

It was basically formed by a few AFC West fans/frequenters of the old Bill Williamson AFC West blog on BSPN. When ESPN went to facebook only this past August for the talk back threads many regulars bounced, and a few formed offshoot sites to keep talking football via live,non-facebook threads. Shootgap is nothing crazy,a few weekly articles, weekly chat threads using the Livefyre format (which is similar to Disqus),Madden tourneys etc…

Anyways here is my article on tonight’s game –
    http://shootgap.com/index.php/musings-from-an-optimistic-raider-fan/

…and stop by anytime if you like. The site is mainly a collective of Raider die hards,Donkey fans,Sous-Chefs and those that follow the San Diego Powder Blue Pretty Pretties…with some mods that represent other teams (Colts,Redskins,Ravens,Packers etc.) Good group, friendly bashing and gloating all around. My handle is kenchun24 (for Disqus & Livefyre and RaiderKenny24 here).

    Oh and…GO RAIDERS!!!
