Pryor on field, but not doing much

By Jerry McDonald - NFL Writer
Thursday, September 26th, 2013 at 11:53 am in Oakland Raiders.

Terrelle Pryor was on the field with his teammates but doing very little Thursday during the media window at Raiders practice.

Pryor, who was not wearing a helmet, went through warm-ups but then stood and watched as Matt Flynn and Matt McGloin took reps with receivers and running backs.

Only one time did Pryor take a snap and throw to a receiver.

Pryor said Wednesday he believed he could be ready to play if he could practice Friday.

Raiders coach Dennis Allen did not want to speculate Wednesday how much work Pryor would need to be ready to play and there’s a chance he won’t divulge the name of his starter until game time.

Also not practicing for the Raiders was defensive end Jason Hunter (quadriceps), along with safety Tyvon Branch (ankle) and Menelik Watson (knee).

Allen will be available to the media following practice, as well as coordinators Greg Olson and Jason Tarver.

It will happen when they move the team to White Settlement, TX.

Terrelle Pryor (concussion) has been cleared to resume practicing, getting in
    a limited session on Thursday.

Pryor was limited to side work without his helmet, but it’s
still another sign he’s getting close to full clearance. Pryor will be a
borderline QB1 if he can give it a go against the Redskins’ pathetic defense.
The fate of the Raiders’ entire skill-player contingent hinges on Pryor playing.
Darren McFadden would be in for a major tumble down the Week 4 ranks if Matt
    Flynn got the call.

The Oakland Raiders recently contacted D’Iberville coach
Buddy Singleton about his former wide receiver, Kevin Norwood.

Norwood is a fifth-year receiver at Alabama, helping the Crimson Tide win three BCS National titles.

    The
2008 Sun Herald player of the year played one season under Singleton,
with the Warriors losing 12-10 to Noxubee County in the 4A state finals.

    The
    6-foot-3 Norwood is a projected a mid-round selection in the 2014 NFL
Draft. He’s also on the Senior Bowl watch list.

This senecio Erks me a bit with the Raiders. The Raider can have a team set back ,do to a penalty, starting first and twenty. The other team may throw a two yard pass and the Raiders give up to much ground thinking they have ground to spear. They give up ten yard instead of five. Now, the Raiders must contend with a second and ten rather than hustling to stop them to a five yard gain. I just do not see the hustle to stop the other team to minimal gains when they back teams up. Other good teams seem to get out of the holes they dig them self in because the Raiders defense seem so relaxed in those situations.

Triple 6 with the roast of 2013! Big ups, homie

  • seymour bush

McFadden has always been hit and miss in protections. I pointed that out on the first play of the preseason when Flynn got pasted, and some fans here questioned me on it. Once again, turns out I was right. McFadden seems to be a RB who can’t run, can’t catch, has a hard time blocking, but he does throw better than Pryor. You have to give him that….

  • nolimits3333

Reece is a much better halfback than McFadden. Dennis Allen is an idiot.

  • Scourge of the East

    Good afternoon, all!

Shout outs to P-man and Crawfish Joe! :-)

The Beeeech Diggs is free once more! :-)

And you-know-who is still setting new heights (or lows) in pootbuttiness!

I thought I saw him whiff a couple of time on Monday but there is no stat for that.

  • raider_39

i feel you, i think your still woozy from the “concussion” that Manning dealt us last week. along with the previous decade long ineptitude, its understandable

other then that, we played good defense in the other two games so far, played the Colts better away then the whieners did at home for instance.

plus we are still trying to gell with now 10 new starters

  • Miamiraider78

Great times when Gannon was around. Too bad we can’t just upload his mental makeup and arm accuracy to Pryor…Matrix like.

  • Purvisman/Eternal Optimist

Another emoticon? C’mon Miami, clue me in.

Sources tell ESPN’s Adam Schefter that Terrelle Pryor (concussion) is
unlikely to play Sunday against the Redskins.

Thanks man, Had a shirt for my son printed with this same logo… Raiden is the best…

  • Scourge of the East

Glad that wasn’t you, BD, right?

  • Purvisman/Eternal Optimist

Yo, Attila! Keeping odd hours, lately?

  • KoolKell

I think DMAC has been an enthusiastic blocker when asked. He’s not asked.

  • Scourge of the East

    You’re still a moron! :-D

  • jumpnjiminy

I don’t think TP should start, but with DA making the call…hell he kept starting Palmer when he shouldn’t have…still say let TP rest this week for the sake of his health (coaches hate that!)

  • Miamiraider78

My apologies Mr. P. I use an app that’s offered on the iPhone 4. It’s called Emoticons: Emoji Unlimited.

  • the nefarious dr robert

    They have to ask him?

  • Purvisman/Eternal Optimist

They don’t all work, but the jack o’ lantern and the sunglasses did.

    Ur a stone cold idiot.

Shouldn’t u have been put down by now?

    Best news of the year.

  • The Big Banana

Bummer. With this news, Washington’s front 7 have pinned their ears back.

  • seymour bush

I don’t know if I would say good news or bad news. Terrelle Pryor has been 1-3 as a starter. And has not done a lot that you would jump up and down about unless you just don’t know the game. Let’s see what Flynn can do in a similar situation.

  • Scourge of the East

    You weren’t asked either, dumbass!

  • LTR

I hoped to win on Monday, bur did not expect to. I Expect to win Sunday regardless of the QB.

  • Scourge of the East

P-man, yeah, I’ve got a weird schedule now. Working some overnight shifts and some meeting, etc. in the daytime. Gotta post my avatar soon!

  • Purvisman/Eternal Optimist

    @VicTafur

#Raiders offensive coordinator Greg Olson said Matt Flynn’s arm “looks fresher” this week at practice. “That jumps out to everybody.”

  • http://raiders.com/ Crawfish Joe

    Seriously. This is no brainer.

  • Scourge of the East

    Hey, Doc, how are ya?

  • Purvisman/Eternal Optimist

    Concussion joke in there somewhere.

  • Purvisman/Eternal Optimist

Yes, I know concussions are no joke. Save it.

  • http://raiders.com/ Crawfish Joe

    Nice.

  • 2romes

I believe in getting one side of the ball right and letting the others side catch up. When I think of a football team what comes to mind immediately is one side of the ball, the offense or the defense. I never think of the two meshed together unless the team is not a contender. We need a team with a steady defense. I do think Dennis Allen has put together a pretty fair defense to this point but it must be empathized to the point that everbody, other teams, think of the Raiders as defense first.

  • Raideraholic

    I hear ya

  • Raideraholic

Pretty decent barring last Monday :)

  • Scourge of the East

Well, I gotta run. Stuff to do before work! I might be on later tonight.

    Later, P-man, CJ, and all!

  • the nefarious dr robert

Just fine. Especially excited about Flynn. How about urself?

  • the nefarious dr robert

My starter cam newton has a bye and I have Big Ben. But I think I’m gonna have to grab Flynn instead.

  • turf toe

Pryor will not start. His brain needs to recover.
Flynn will start. I hope he survives.
