It’s Pryor .. . no, it’s Flynn

If Dennis Allen’s aim was to confuse the issue of his starting quarterback for the sake of a “competitive advantage” he’s done a heck of a job.

Both Fox Sports and ESPN reported Sunday morning Matt Flynn would start against the Washington Redskins, with the San Francisco Chronicle reporting the previous evening it would be Terrelle Pryor.

If it’s Flynn, it would behoove him to get off to a good start. It’s a pro-Pryor home crowd, but one that could be bought off by a couple of touchdown drives and an early lead.

Will check in from O.co Coliseum later . . .

Skins D will look like the 85 Bears today

  • ENGLANDRAIDER

155 yards rushing and 333 yards passing.

  • alex7

aww, name calling in the face of stats. Very mature.

Keep your stats? lol, stats are what actually happened. EVERYTHING that happens is measurable. Guessing you don’t like math or academia much.

  • Purvisman/Eternal Optimist

    I’ve read that before, somewhere.

  • raider_39

its the NFL man, early regular season at that. there are no gimmies. not for us anyway

  • eastoaklandraider

The boo birds will be out early today

  • alex7

Skins have played the Eagles, Lions, and Packers.

Their D is better than last. You play those 3 teams 3 weeks in a row, your D will be bottom-5.

It’s why Skins are favored. Better O and a defense slightly better than results so far.

  • marks hair

its a home game and it’s the worst defense we will face all year.. it’s just a shame to lose our quarterback right now.

  • Purvisman/Eternal Optimist

Don’t confuse me with facts, man!

  • alex7

immature if they do and they deserve the stereotype.

We had 7 points after 44 minutes last week. No fans at home were booing that. We’ll top that this week.

  • Purvisman/Eternal Optimist

Love the look on Carroll’s face.

  • 10centsworth

Wait. You sayin’ the stats lie? You?

  • alex7

No, I’m saying your OPPONENTS are also part of the stats.

    Come on.

  • alex7

called regression to the mean. Redskins “mean” talent on D is affected right now by level of opposing O’s they’ve faced.

  • marks hair

oh…. like tp playing 2 playoff teams so far..

  • 10centsworth

They are? A year from now, when YOU look ‘em up (nothing better to do, I guess) you’ll have all that in front of you? Please. Do give it a rest.

  • alex7

Redskins have given up most points so far.

Redskins talent-wise are better than that.

Top one is a stat, bottom one is analysis of those stats. Not hard.

  • 0ak R8rs

If Pryor dresses then he would replace Flynn. Maybe. McGloin isn’t replacing anyone unless we have no options left.

  • alex7

geez, have you never visited a decent NFL stat site? Profootballreference.com is my suggestion. So yes, anyone who speaks of stats with a modicum of intellect will see who the Skins played if they reference their week 3 ranking.

  • alex7

and “managing” the game vs the Jaguars.

Broncos pass D ranked in bottom 8, just so you know.

  • 0ak R8rs

They should outlaw that Seattle stadium. Only reason they r so tough. They show their true colors on the road. They r just above average. They r far from unbeatable on the road.

  • alex7

this is true for most teams.

  • ENGLANDRAIDER

Pryor’s not starting because he is still showing signs of concussion.
    They may have no choice.

  • marks hair

thats because they score 40 points a game and force their opponents in to pass mode. just so you know

  • Raider_Riff

That’s not why the skins are favored.

    U don’t understand betting lines.

  • raider_39

agreed that home field is a factor, but still, i NEVER bet on any NFL game…there is so much that can go wrong at this level its fascinating…i mean i wouldve kicked my monitor if we lost like GB did at CIN last week.

  • alex7

    fun stats:

Broncos ranked 30th in pass D.
Jaguars have given up 5th most passing TDs this year.
We have 2 passing TDs in 3 games.

    “Potential”

  • Raiders24

Is ranked in the bottom 8 because teams are falling behind and having to pass a lot? I think so.

  • RaidO

Flynn will have to light it up to cause any QB controversy. But the Redskins do have the worst D in the NFL.

If Flynn plays bad he could be done with the Raiders and we will see Mcgloin.

  • alex7

lol, they’re not favored because they’re better? do share please, why they’re favored on the road even when Pryor was projected starter.

  • 0ak R8rs

Alex7 sees stats for only what they say on the fest level. Cold hard facts is how he treats them. Unless, of course, it suits his argument to read into those stats further. Then, all of a sudden, there r variables. Difficult to argue w him, since he manipulated stats to help his position, but won’t allow you to do the same.

  • alex7

    Sigh.

So when you KNOW the pass is coming, shouldn’t you defend it well?

Seahawks don’t seem to have this problem. Nor the Saints.

  • Raiders24

Pryor should get some credit considering there was NOOO running game and they knew pryor had to pass to try and stay in the game.

  • 0ak R8rs

They r 30th agains the pass because the other team is always behind and playing catch up. You know that. You’ll deny it. But you know it.

  • alex7

    Mark’s Hair AND OakR8ers

thinks Broncos bad pass D is due to their constant leads.

Weird that Saints, Seahawks, and Patriots have constant leads yet are TOP-5 in pass D.

  • alex7

Saints, Patriots, Seahawks constant leads and top-5 pass D.

    Try again.

  • marks hair

ok no ones this simple minded… he’s clearly trolling. and he’s just taking the conversation away from any other matchups.. time to collapse.

  • Raiders24

hahs well lets start with Patriots- played rookie bills qb Ej manuel, jets ROOKIE QB geno smith and terrible josh freeman. that could explain it.

  • Raider_Riff

    Keep lol’ing dunce.

Betting lines are not a prediction of outcome.

They are a reflection of the betting public. Vegas wants even money on both sides. That’s all.

Using the betting line to validate ur argument completely invalidates ur argument while simultaneously proving u don’t understand how or why lines are set.

  • 10centsworth

Analysis. Hmmm. Analysis of “facts”. I’d rather rewatch the Ghost to the Post game. But you keep up your diligence and “analysis” and please don’t mind if we suggest your “breakdown” of these “facts” is full of sh it. That fair? Oh. One thing more. Once is enough. At the very most…once per thread. OK?

  • alex7

Mark, name-calling but no reply? lol, why?

Why are Saints, Patriots, and Seahawks, who jump out to early leads, top-5 in pass D?

    OR

Why did Pryor not actually produce late in game vs Broncos bad pass D if your theory is right? 7 points in 44 minutes.

You lose either way and all you can say is “troll” when you get beat by simple stats.

  • Raidersfan727

The NFL is wild this year… Texans killing seahawks, Bills killing ravens… any given sunday

  • 0ak R8rs

Patriots haven’t had constant leads. Lets see where Seattle is after some road games. And the saints use our defense. And haven’t been running away from teams either. Like I said. All stats have multiple meanings. When looked at w an open mind and intelligently. Unfortunately, you can omit do that when it works for you. I’m not arguing w you. It’s pointless. Chalk it up as a quick blog win if you like. Not dealing w your double talk today.

  • alex7

    24

the guys are saying that even THOSE QBs should get garbage time stats vs the D.

They’re saying the Broncos pass D is actually good but teams playing catch-up get HUGE amounts of garbage time stats to make Broncos pass D 30th. Why isn’t that happening elsewhere?

  • alex7

Patriots blew out the Bucs. Did Freeman generate all these garbage stats late in the game? No.

Good pass Ds that KNOW the pass is coming play it well. Broncos don’t have good pass D.

  • Raider_Riff

That isnt to say that your initial argument isnt valid. The Redskins defense is better than their stats advertise, for the reasons you stated.

Just dont bring betting lines into the discussion. That is where you lost me and your arguement.

    Get it?

  • marks hair

shame we have to play the backup, but go Flynn! let’s go Raiders!!

    give Reece the ball!

  • 0ak R8rs

Agreed. I refuse to get sucked into his BS today. Attitudes like his actually make me wanna root against Flynn. Almost.

  • alex7

yet no analytical replies. Just name-calling. Mature.

  • alex7

Bills EJ Manuel is a really good rookie QB.
