Still no McFadden, though Reece looks better

ALAMEDA — Running back Darren McFadden is nowhere to be seen on the practice field today. Rashad Jennings is the one taking all the reps with the first-team offense in case he is the one called upon against the San Diego Chargers.
McFadden left the game against the Washington Redskins after only five carries on Sunday. He suffered a hamstring injury earlier in the game and wasn’t able to make it past halftime.
On the bright side for the Raiders, fullback Marcel Reece (knee) looks as if the knee he injured against the Redskins isn’t bothering him too much, if at all.
Cornerback Charles Woodson returned to practice today after he missed Wednesday’s proceedings for what coach Dennis Allen termed a non-football reason.
Center Stefen Wisniewski is on the practice field today. However, he is just watching as his teammates go through their paces.
For now, Andre Gurode is the starting center as long as Wisniewski isn’t able to play. Lamar Mady is the backup in the middle.
Allen and the Raiders are hopeful that Wisniewski will heal well enough and in time to play against the Chargers.
Rookie Menelik Watson is taking reps at left offensive tackle today, with the second-team. Khalif Barnes still is the starter at that position.
Once Watson returns, it’s conceivable that he will push Barnes out of the left tackle spot, with Barnes moving either to right tackle or one of the guard spots.
Wide receiver Andre Holmes is practicing for the second straight day as he works his way back into form after a four-game suspension.
The Raiders have until Saturday afternoon to decide whether to activate Holmes to the 53-man, active roster. If so, they need to cut a player to make room.
If Allen opts to go without Holmes for the Chargers game, the Raiders have to make a roster move Monday if they intend to keep Holmes around, which is likely.

  • HELLSBELLS

  • DutchRaid

Keep Barnes on the Left side as the starting guard? Need some push in the middle..

  • Raiderkoolaid

Time to move on past McFadden. He is always hurt injured and when he does play he doesn’t knock your socks off.

  • HELLSBELLS

MCCLAIN MUST BE A DUD IF HE CANT MAKE IT TO STARTING GUARD HERE.

  • HELLSBELLS

    AGREED

  • Purvisman/Eternal Optimist

    How is it, Texas?

  • eastoaklandraider

    Agreed.

What! McFadden injured, I can’t believe it. What a shock. As Hue used to say ” we’ll see where is later this week”.

  • Tyler Miller

    Freeman! !!

  • eastoaklandraider

something has to be up with him, cant even get activated? something is going on behind the scenes.

  • plunkhead

Except for those few games in 2011 and 10.
Tom Cable knew how to get blockers in front of him moving the pile

  • Miamiraider78

Trade DMAC! The only thing I’ve been saying now for awhile. Too bad we won’t get much in return but if he could fetch us a 3rd or 4th, I’d be happy. Thank you for your contributions kid but its time to go.

  • plunkhead

He can carry TP’s helmet when Matt leaves

  • eastoaklandraider

I know it sound like an excuse, but I want to see Dmac when Veldeer gets back, he’s our power run blocking extraordinaire.

  • plunkhead

    Sad Matt, not New Matt

    SadSack.

  • eastoaklandraider

Need to call those plays in the game OLSON!!

  • JOn Wooah

Freeman should be brought in. He can easily backup PRYOR till he gets caught up in the offense.. then let them compete. Freeman woud easily push Mcgloin aside for the backup. Not even close.

It would be PRYOR’s huddle and freeman learns for now

  • RaiderDirt

Hearing the Raiders had discussions today with FA running back Micheal Turner… What do you think about that possibility Nation?

  • Just Fire Baby

My bet with Oak R8rs will be getting interesting.
    I got D-Moore TD’s +1 vs. D-Mac’s starts.
    So far 3 (2TD’s + 1) to 4
Down 1, but I think that 50 spot will be mine.

Josh Freeman > Flynn, McGloin, Wilson (combined). If he agrees to sign cheap, get him in here asap. Pryor is fresh off a concussion, remember?

  • Purvisman/Eternal Optimist

    Hey, Miami.

  • Just Fire Baby

    Moose

  • Mike_Trail

Wow McFalldown is still injured? Well color me stunned.

  • Just Fire Baby

    Maybe a 3rd in 2037.
We couldn’t get a 6th round pick for him.

  • RaidingTexas

All good man. Last day of work for me this week. Traveling Sunday afternoon – was originally not happy about missing the game. But thank you rescheduling gods! I’ll be home in time for this one.

  • Mike_Trail

Absolutely Agree. We need to stockpile all the talent on this team we can….Reggie will have 50 million to play with next year. Chop Flynn and bring in Freeman.

  • http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Johnnie_Lee_Higgins RaiderRockstar

we already have a slow bruiser short yardage back (Jennings)

  • eastoaklandraider

idk, might be a waste of money, he’s still available for a reason.

  • plunkhead

Even if it was a good idea, which it is not, reggie don’t like dopers and slackers and knuckleheads. Plus the locker room is behind TP. Freeman would be like a doobie in a cop gym

  • Just Fire Baby

Pass, once RB’s lose it, they lose it.
    He lost it

  • RaidingTexas

Everything’s good, man. Except for all the Freeman talk. Seriously? lol I mean Flynny is bad, but wow. Sure hope TP stays healthy.

  • Mike_Trail

Freeman is none of those things…

  • 10centsworth

How about yogurt in a doughnut shop?

  • Purvisman/Eternal Optimist

Anybody else ever notice the slow down in posting when the west coast work force goes off the clock for lunch?

  • plunkhead

Nope, he is a choir boy. That’s why he went from hero to zero overnight. Its all coaches fault for not liking him

  • Raiderkoolaid

As long as he is still a Raider I will be rooting for him to bust out and play great. I am loosing hope though.

  • plunkhead

    Antler

  • 10centsworth

How many times we’ve reached this point and had the same thoughts about McFader?

  • RaiderDirt

True he has been on the FA list for a while now… I’m just thinking more of a Zack Crockett for sure 1 to 3 yard Bruiser type of back.. Lock him up with a vet mini for two yrs.

  • RaidingTexas

Don’t see any upside to that one.
