Raiders spent players day off looking at other players

By Steve Corkran
Wednesday, October 9th, 2013 at 10:16 am in Oakland Raiders.

Tuesday typically is a busy time for NFL teams in terms of bringing in players that they’re interested in adding to their roster. The Raiders did more than their share Tuesday by working out 13 players.
In addition to quarterbacks David Carr, Trent Edwards and Pat White, the Raiders on Tuesday worked out running backs Montario Hardesty, Keiland Williams and Jonathan Grimes, wide receivers Ramses Barden and LaQuan Williams, tight end Evan Moore defensive backs Marcus Burley, Myron Lewis, Curtis Marsh and Markelle Martin.
The Raiders didn’t sign any of the players they worked out, though that doesn’t mean that they won’t do so at some point this season.

    #Chiefs
coach Andy Reid said #Raiders Bobby April “has done a great job. They
have the best special teams in the National Football League.”

    Andy Reid initiating Psy Ops.

This aint dumpster diving, Reggie went straight to the Landfill.

  • Purvisman/Eternal Optimist

    That’s a catch 22 there, Tony.

  • CJ Legend 34

Why looking at WRs???? Look at QBs and o-lineman and stop playing games with the WRs.

  • Theghostronin79

After that Bomb for a TD on our 1st play from scrimmage, it made ALL the DC’s we’re about to face, Re-inact a scene from the Goonies.
(Sloth Rips his shirt open to reveal a Superman undershirt: Que’ theme song..)
    Jake : We’re in Deep Sh*t NOW Francis…..
    Francis : Oooooohhhhhh Shhhh***T

  • michael

Keep looking for OL. You can’t have enough.

  • brad

You got to be able to see what’s out there before you make any trade moves! So I guess Reggie went Bargain Hunting! LMAO!

  • Papertiger

Reggie’s just indulging his dumpster-diving tendencies so the team can bring in some fresh meat during the bye.

    FRESH FISH!!! FRESH FISH!!!

  • DKnight007

This Raider team needs two BEASTS at the Guard position next year!

  • Papertiger

Andy Reid is not going to last long in KC. That BBQ is going straight to the arteries!

The man used to use cheeseburgers for betting purposes; I’m guessing he’s wagering full racks of ribs at this point.

  • Papertiger

Why don’t you have a batman avatar?

    (please go with Clooney)

All irony is intentional — you of all posters should know that

  • Purvisman/Eternal Optimist

Don’t know you well enough. I’ll shuffle you into a different catagory.

    We’re reelin’ ‘em in!

My apologies, it is asymmetric warfare as I’m a lurker and I cop to that — Not warfare of course, quite the opposite — I been around here only a season or more, had a few posts as DmfK13 on the ol’ blog (pause to pour beer on floor, fetch mop, etc.) but already had this Disqus account for unrelated reasons, not a seeker of controversy so easily skipped over…

  • aig

Montario Hardesty was a beast at Tenn. Too injury prone though. I saw a lot of his games while in Memphis and he was the only guy keeping Lam Kitten’s offense moving.

  • Purvisman/Eternal Optimist

    I remember DmfK13.

  • Purvisman/Eternal Optimist

    Gotta love the name, though.

  • Tony Rasmussen

If I may offer one opinion before going to bed, at the risk of being a downer but have not seen this voiced here: the consensus seems to be that the San Diego game was some kind of coming out party, but it seemed to me we were kinda lucky to win that, I mean they turned it over what 5 times, and they failed to just fall on the (boneheaded) TP fumble, that was not a very convincing win, thankful for it but lotsa stuff to ‘clean up’ for sure …

  • Purvisman/Eternal Optimist

Andy Reid’s Psy Ops escalating. We’re not biting, Andy.

Besides special teams, #Chiefs coach Andy Reid also praised #Raiders quarterback Terrelle Pryor and their defense:

Reid said the Raiders “have that quarterback
rolling.” Pryor “looks like he has great command of what they’re asking
    him to do.”
And “you have to consider that one of the better
defenses in the NFL. They fly around, they make plays, they have great
    coaching.
“They’ve got a good football team. (GM) Reggie (McKenzie) has done a nice job there.”

  • Tony Rasmussen

He was a good lad … hid his light under a bush …

  • Purvisman/Eternal Optimist

A bit of both, IMO. Heads up plays by WR’s(refreshingly), D causing some of those turnovers, Pryor playing great, etc. It was hardly a trouncing, though.

  • The_Judge37

All of that plus the fact that the Chargers just aren’t very good.

  • DKnight007

The Bolts aren’t very good at all.

  • DKnight007

Clooney? haha…let me find a cool one. Plenty to choose from.

  • Tony Rasmussen

This is true — their talent level seems similar to ours, but our group looks pretty hungry

  • Tony Rasmussen

One other thing: the 8:30 start time was just weird — I mean you’re in the locker room at halftime and it’s 10pm…? Maybe it’s my advanced age talking but that has to have an effect, yeah on both teams but we had the home field thing…

  • 10centsworth

Shuffle a lot, nowadays, do ya?

  • Morilla_00

    Yeah, you’re just old.

  • R8erEduc8er

I find it funny how every upcoming opponent voice how we’re the best thing since sliced bread lol but it’s standard operating procedure in the NFL.

  • DKnight007

    Exactly.

  • R8erEduc8er

Agreed that it was closer than it should have been. But if D Moore wasn’t pushed out of bounds (barely), we would have blew them out. Coulda, shoulda, woulda I know…

  • JLofty

Time to get all irrationally fired up about Ramsees Barden yet??

  • loyal

You could also say that the Colts were lucky to beat the Raiders because of a turnover…… and the Redskins were lucky to face Flynn. I see where you’re coming from but everything would feel very different if we were 4-1.

  • Morilla_00

The defense isn’t that shabby. It’s the biggest improvement for the Raiders this season.

  • bcz24

Lets not forget the things that DIDN’T go our way. The (2nd of the year) phantom OPI on Rivera that forced a punt instead of giving us a first down. The DMo TD taken of the board because their CB pushed him out of bounds. Damn near the whole oline and RB core was injured… We won the game in the face of adversity. That’s a positive thing for this team.

  • 10centsworth

Still have the gloomers waiting for the bubble to burst. I’m glad we’re 2-3 and the upside staring at us. Go Raiders.

  • Tony Rasmussen

Upvoted you with a chuckle, touche Tooz

  • R8erEduc8er

Yep. It was time a cpl hrs ago.

  • loyal

Does Kawakami drive anyone else crazy?

  • Morilla_00

    hehe

  • JLofty

I think it was for Junior #2. Kid looked like the real NFL QB-passer many said he never would.
THAT is something positive and real to take away….

  • Tony Rasmussen

Yes indeed, we played well and earned the win — just thinking bout saying things that may be going unsaid here — I’ve already taken Monday off work so I can watch the Chiefs game which is at frickin 1 a.m. Monday here in Taiwan — word

  • Morilla_00

I’m right there with you, I had to have some coffee with my IPA’s to stay up for that one.

  • 10centsworth

    Well Taiwan on for us.

  • JLofty

$#it i gots to start getting outta bed earlier!

  • Chuck

If we can beat k.c. we have a shot at the playoffs.

  • 10centsworth

I found the cure. Don’t read him. Not that starved for negative pomposity.
