Chiefs 24, Raiders 7 — Final

By Steve Corkran
Sunday, October 13th, 2013 at 1:19 pm in Oakland Raiders.

KANSAS CITY – The Kansas City Chiefs parlayed an interception late in the third quarter into a tiebreaking touchdown drive, then relied on their defense to close out the game against the Raiders on Sunday.
The formula worked quite well as the Chiefs sealed the 24-7 win with a barrage of sacks of Raiders quarterback Terrelle Pryor and a stifling defensive effort overall.
The Chiefs improved to 6-0 with the win, while the Raiders dropped to 2-4 on the season.
The game turned when safety Quintin Demps snagged the ill-advised pass by Pryor, and the Chiefs scored a tiebreaking touchdown four plays later on the second of running back Jamaal Charles’ two rushing touchdowns.
Backup cornerback Marcus Cooper, pressed into duty when starter Brandon Flowers couldn’t go, sealed the game with an interception of Pryor with 4 minutes, 9 seconds left.
Chiefs safety Husain Abdullah closed out the scoring with a 44-yard interception return for touchdown with 1:35 left.
Pryor outplayed counterpart Alex Smith in the first half, but it was Smith that made more key plays from late in the second half through the end of the game.
The Raiders finished the game down two offensive linemen that started the game – center Andre Gurode and right tackle Tony Pashos. That no doubt contributed to the Chiefs sacking Pryor 10 times and harassing him several other plays.
The Raiders also came undone too often as a result of penalties. They played penalty-free football for the first quarter but committed four in the second quarter and five in the third.
Meanwhile, Smith played a conservative game without any turnovers, and the Chiefs committed only four penalties.
Things looked promising for the Raiders early on as they jumped to a 7-0 lead on a short pass from Pryor to wide receiver Denarius Moore that Moore turned into a 39-yard touchdown.
The Chiefs tied the game late in the first half on a 7-yard run by Charles.
Raiders rookie cornerback D.J. Hayden aided the Chiefs scoring drive by committing a pass interference penalty on a third-and-10 play.
The Raiders held their own against the Chiefs in the first half and even outplayed them for stretches.
In the second half, Hayden atoned for his first-half gaffe with a forced fumble inside the Raiders 10-yard line and the Chiefs destined for a tiebreaking score midway through the third quarter.
Fellow cornerback Charles Woodson was there to fall on the loose ball and keep the game tied. For Woodson, that marked his third turnover in two games – he has an interception and fumble recovery against the Chargers a week earlier.

NE won a SB with nothing BUT screens when Brady was still learning the game.

Maybe Raider fans don’t know what the play is because they never see them or something?

Seriously.. you guys are an embarrassment…

  • rifflicks

he got thrown to the wolves as a rookie…pryor had had 3 years to prepare

  • the pryor fan dr robert

U have to be the gayest impostor ever.

Only a truly great poster like me could drive another person insane.

Ur a testament to my greatness.

  • rifflicks

    I watched it today

  • Raiders for Life

I’m still laughing at you. Dork

  • 0ak R8rs

No. 6 games. That comes w experience and reps. Why do you think Peyton and Brady won’t ever give up a rep? Why do you think they don’t come out w even 4 TD leads? They r te starters. They get the reps. They get the experience. Pryor has had about 180 minutes to figure it out. Takes a little more time than that.

  • LA_RAYDAH

Not true. First year was inactive for a quarter of the season. 2nd year played the last game of the season. 3rd year got thrown into the fire in preseason where defense is vanilla (against 2nd stringers). You learn from watching yourself play, and what teams are doing to defend you. Do you not realize your bias Riff.

  • rifflicks

why did Tampa Bay fire Gruden? tell us the names of the QB’s Gruden developed with his expertise

  • the pryor fan dr robert

Ignore the gay impostor. Total douche.

  • UCLA Raider

I have grown to hate Rich Gannon for his negativity with respect to anything related to Raiders. SOB’s constant criticism of Pryor was so blatant that I had to mute the TV.

I think after his five INTs in Super Bowl and the way fans blamed him for that game he has forever become a hater.

  • rockraider

don’t say ur going to be there if ur not.

    3 times u biches bailed.

I went up to SF and took 2 hrs in traffic, then had to park 3 miles away and walk for a hour. had to wade through couple hundred thousand visitors.
dude was too big for me though, but not worried bout u biches.

    show me or blow me

  • r8ter4evr

Hasnt had 3years with the 1st team O idiot

  • VanHeathen30

Blaming this Offensive Effort on just the QB is very simple thinking… The O Line could barely get a snap off without a false start or just whiffing on heir blocking assignments. Hoping to get them somewhat healthy before we see them in Oakland.
BTW: the Chefs OT away with a lot Today. Saw a bunch of holds on heir O and a lot of other flags hat weren’t brown, like he horse collar tackle on TP in the 1st half. KC gets a bunch of home cooking fom the Zebra’s .

  • r8ter4evr

    AlEX

  • Gdog

You deserve Olson for four more years.

Gosh.. how come we keep switching players and we are in the bottom 10 in offense every year???

    GIGO. Look it up…

  • Raiders for Life

    HA HA HA. Dork.

  • the pryor fan dr robert

Lol. Love how u say how bad I am for making fun if missdick but u like to do it, as me.

Ur a psycho. But a fun puppy.

  • rockraider

correction. i bailed on that one, but the others I didn’t. beech was runnijng scared.

  • LA_RAYDAH

He lost his team as a head coach plain and simple. He still knows his ish tho, John Fox lost his job too, Pete Carroll, Belicheat, the list goes on. They all know they ish tho. You, not so sure youre gauging with a fair set of rules tho.

  • rifflicks

he had 3 years to prepare in film study and practice

  • 0ak R8rs

They stuff is all easier said than done. This offense isn’t ready for that. Thats what playoff teams do. Some of them. Sometimes.

That’s not us. Like turf toe says, you r what your record is. We r a 2 and 4 team. We will have some disappointing losses. And we will have some nice wins.

We would have been in playoff talks of we won today. We aren’t a playoff team. That’s why we didn’t win. Shouldn’t be a surprise to anyone here.

  • DJ Johnny

I’m not gonna sit around and stew for 2 weeks on this.
    It was embarrassing.
Raider buzz officially extinguished in grand flopping fashion.
I’m proud of the D but that was an offensive embarrassment.
    Every team has injuries.
It is what it is, but we could’ve won that game instead of totally imploding.
    Embarrassing. 100 %.

  • Zopi

    TERREBLE!

  • LA_RAYDAH

I’ll excuse the man love comment, but you cant film study your errors until you play, or maybe if you have a HOFer in front of you to groom you. Other than that is learn on the job training, meaning playing time man….

  • rifflicks

yeah the zebras hid the clock from pryor

  • r8ter4evr

Manning had his whole life with his Dad moron

  • Raiders for Life

Raiders had to beat the stripes. It was 12 men on the field with those zebras.
The O-line is a mess, I don’t care what anyone says, Brisell has to move to center. Come on, this O-line is garbage. Not the coaches fault.

  • the pryor fan dr robert

Refresh and see my impostor is now “Rockraider”.

    Classic.

  • rifflicks

    LOL

  • LA_RAYDAH

I included last year SD game my raider brotha. Some of these dudes are a trip because they diss one player over a team. TP is not the reason we are 2-4, but Flynn sure caused that loss to redskins tho, the coach even said it, then retracted it

  • Raiders for Life

Ummm, I guess you didn’t notice that the crowd noise was so loud that smith did the same thing.

  • rifflicks

you need to be groomed to read a play clock???
you need to be Groomed to learn to read defenses from film for 3 years???

  • r8ter4evr

Ya Alexriffledick and Doc need to stay inSF

  • rifflicks

those QB’s he developed or even drafted that were successful?????

  • Raiders for Life

I am the walrus, you are the egg man…..goo goo ga joob.

  • LB32

That’s why AL wouldn’t let his a** on site!

  • UCLA Raider

KC had a massively tragic season last year. The corrupt NFL officials aka Tobacco are actively trying to make it up to them this year. The out of bound hit on Hayden not called, the horse collar on Pryor not called plus several tricky tack calls on our o-line, and several holds on KC not called makes my point clear.

No we did not lose this game on bad officiating but that didn’t help either.

  • rifflicks

    4 times….so loud he couldn’t see.

  • Raiders for Life

When Gurode went out it got ugly, Brisiell moving to center was horrible. What can you do? The O-line is a complete mess.

  • LA_RAYDAH

Play clock no…Read the way defenses play you yes. Team will attack different opponents strengths, disguise blitzes, and coverages. What are you looking at bro? Where are your 3 years coming from? This is his 2nd year, and last year how could he learn to read D as a 3rd stringer? Are you serious? It’s all good tho, I’m not trying to convince you…I’m just sayin’ bro…you got it out for TP like he capt checkdown, or purple drank jamarcus, or pick six palmer…

  • 0ak R8rs

Yea. That’s what happened. New England was the worst offense in the league but they won the Super Bowl by throwing screens. Talk about an oversimplification? LMFAO.

  • rifflicks

that would be peeing in the ocean

  • LA_RAYDAH

Is that one person trolling the whole blog? Ish is straight up funny man, but sad for real tho.

  • EMRaiders

I am sure everyone noticed how the offense went to he11 soon after Gurode went down. I don’t think there’s one person on the line that is a starter or starting at their regular spot now. Hopefully we start getting some healthy bodies back after the bye.

That said, Pryor took a big dump today, and had his worst game ever. He progressively got worse in the second half, and looked lost out there. But again, all this came only after the Oline had been downgraded to 3rd stringers and players out of position. Still though, Pryor’s play only made things worse.

Now, with that said also, this wasn’t all on Pryor. Multiple penalties on O, a couple bad calls by the refs, and the crowd noise made this a perfect recipe for disaster.

In the first half KC couldn’t do anything. But after the injuries to Gurode and Pashos, everything went downhill.

As i said before, Pryor’s play was terrible in the second half, but a lot of that had to do with the condition our Oline was in. No time for anything.

    Back to the drawing board.

  • the pryor fan dr robert

If u believe we are the same, then u have to be among the dumbest creatures on earth.

  • Raiders for Life

Yeah rifflick good point. Were you screaming for flynn?

  • ENGLANDRAIDER

3rd and 20 and Drew Brees connects for a TD…..

  • Miamiraider78

Wow, you truly are an idiot.

  • EMRaiders

I wonder what he’d do with a 3rd and 48 and no Oline

  • kenchun24

Yup yup…drawing board includes a new training staff and recovery for the o-line ASAP. Only so much you can take after awhile. Mady? McCants? Breisel at center? Yikes!
