Raiders in midst of final practice before bye week

By Steve Corkran
Wednesday, October 16th, 2013 at 10:57 am in Oakland Raiders.

The Raiders are going through their paces Wednesday in the final practice before the bye week kicks in.
Once the practice, workouts and meetings today end, the players will be excused for four days. They won’t be required to be back at the team’s year-round facility in Alameda until Monday.
Like Tuesday, the practice today is limited to players with no more than four years’ experience in the NFL, and not even all the players in that category are in attendance.
Thirty seven players are on the field right now, one more than Tuesday. Within the next 30 minutes or so, coach Dennis Allen, offensive coordinator Greg Olson and defensive coordinator Jason Tarver will speak with the media.
In other news, the Raiders waived running back George Winn from their practice squad and kicker Eddy Carmona from injured-reserve list.

  • The Big Banana

Never root for a niner win under any circumstances. Their fans are insufferable.

  • Just Win Baby

I would root for the Niners to beat the Broncos every time. Nothing is worse than a Broncos fan.

  • seymour bush

Gotta go with the banana on this one. Maybe it’s being in the Bay Area but there is NO WAY I could root for the Whiners. Even against Dungver in the Super Bowl.

  • The_Judge37

    Vaya con Dios Eddy Carmona

  • The_Judge37

Why you guys even have to go there with the worst case senarios? And I thought I was negative.

  • seymour bush

You know Manning and Kaeper-pick will throw the big INT sometime during the playoffs to cost them.

  • http://raiders.com/ Crawfish Joe

Denver vs SF in the Super Bowl? I’ll pass and watch the weather channel or go ice fishing.

  • The_Judge37

There’s the postive spin I was looking for.

  • 2romes

My favorite running back is Adrian Peterson, and my favorite DB is Charles Woodson

  • yoblackbooty

Id rather watch last years season finale of dancing withthe stars

  • MaddenRaider

Got to refresh your browser on occasion otherwise there’s no indicator of a new post.

  • loyal

On the bright side………before the season the Raiders were ranked 31 or 32 on most power polls. We are now ranked an average of 25. yipee

  • MaddenRaider

That’s what I’m saying. If you’re a Raider fan in norcal, whiners are enemy #1. The end. Raider fans from other regions don’t have to deal with 49er fans, not to mention their butt kissers in the media.

  • 2romes

    Which QB won’t!

  • yoblackbooty

According to the experts we werent supposed to win a game 0-16……smh no respect

  • Raider Rocker

    That’s a lose/lose.

  • Raider Rocker

Exactly. #1 team = Raiders. #2 team = Anybody playing the whiners.

  • HGDaddy

anybody else catch what Tafur asked Olson as he was leaving his press conference?

  • seymour bush

The big surprise this year from the Oakland Raiders is how well the defense has played. The secondary has been very good, the run defense has been solid, and if we could get a pass rusher this could be a very formidable defense. For all of you McKenzie/Allen bashers, you should hang your heads in shame.

This upcoming draft is going to be a good one. Lots of solid prospects at a lot of positions. And McKenzie for the most part has drafted well. Two years from now we should be able to ascend to our rightful spot, atop the AFC West division.

  • loyal

So is Dmac “past it”/done or would AP look done with our oline?

  • brad

    true that!

  • Raider-In-PA

Any chance we get an O-line starter back for the sh!ttsburgh game?

  • 2romes

The concept of a weak division is often thrown out of the window if when a team from the so called weak division makes the playoffs. I just don’t believe in this weak division stuff as much as I believe in peaking at the right time.

  • RediaR

Very true. I’m fine with the niners and would root for them in the Super Bowl against most teams.

  • RediaR

or at least a primary backup.

  • DIRT-LOT FOOTBALL

COULD NOT CARE LESS ABOUT THEM.NOT IN OUR DIVISION OR CONFERANCE..

  • 2romes

AP would do better with are 0-line. Not great, but much better. AP is much better at making the first man miss, breaking the first tackle and gaining more yards after contact. When DMAC first played with the Raiders I thought they were similar but after years I can see a big difference.

  • DIRT-LOT FOOTBALL

MAKING THE 1ST MAN MISSOR BREAKING THE 1ST TACKLE,,EXACTLY.

  • Raider-In-PA

Never hear anything on Veldheer’s progress, is he still alive?

  • Sir Raider Duck, OMS

I would assume so. Someone should ask Cork tomorrow.

  • Charlie

    PA
Initial plan was to have Veld back for the Eaglets.
Not sure if that is still on target.
My hope is Watson and Wiz are ready for Pittsburgh.

I want us to finish 12-4…. but I think 8-8 would bode well for next season. 8-8 will not be good enough for a wild card. Funny to think we were 8-8 under Cable/Hue.

  • dan garcia is super gay

It’s gonna be interesting to watch freeman and Flynn perform and compare to Pryor moving forward.

    U made ur bed DA.

  • RediaR

I might have been wrong when I said he and Branch are the same player, but with Mitch hitting harder. He might just be better.

  • RediaR

Flynn wasn’t the guy. We moved on. Do the same.

  • Charlie

    Loyal
We were 8-8 $30 million OVER the cap with no draft picks.
Most expensive 8-8 in the history of the NFL.
    Pathetic.

“In 2010, Al Davis went all out for his football team in an uncapped year and spent the most money in the league at
over $150 million in player salaries. THAT IS EASILY THE MOST MONEY EVER SPENT ON A TEAM IN THE HISTORY OF THE NFL. One thing we know for sure is that Al Davis made his own bed here and whether that is good or bad, he must lie in it. At the other end of the spectrum are the Bengals, who have only $83.5 million in commitments
for 2012. The Buccaneers, Titans, Redskins, and Broncos also are under $100.”

    million.”

  • seymour bush

Too bad he doesn’t post how many times he has been toasted for touchdowns. Probably dozens of times this year alone.

  • RealTruRaider

    lol

  • Theghostronin79

    Rob?

  • 2romes

Do you want a owner that is trying to win for his fans or do you want him to thinks savings first?

  • dan garcia is super gay

How do we know? Pryor was WORSE in every way. I guess we know Pryor isn’t the guy.

We TRADED for Flynn and pulled the plug way too early to give it to a guy who never earned it.

Flynn is gone yes. But if he plays well in buffalo while Pryor stinks, how stupid do we look?

  • RealTruRaider

At least he was spending money trying to win, unlike some owners/NFL teams

  • http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Johnnie_Lee_Higgins RaiderRockstar

I wonder what JFB thinks of JW’s Mike Mitchell comment below? bwahahahahaha!! like Redia, I also claimed MM34 = TB33. same skillset

  • dan garcia is super gay

    Yes

  • RediaR

I’d like an owner who cares about the long term prospects of the team and how his decisions effect both the short term and long term.

  • RealTruRaider

You are so wrong about everything it ain’t even funny anymore, its sad, it really is

  • Theghostronin79

    BAAHH-HAHAHA….@ your avitar

  • 2romes

Quite sure the teams that are never there at the end of the season are thinking long term and long term for them is nothing but long term nothing.

  • RediaR

Really not worried. I jumped off the Flynn wagon when it became clear his elbow issues were going to be an issue that would limit him in his career. He can’t be relied upon to be a starter week in and week out, even if the one horrible game was a fluke. The older the QB is the shorter the leash he is given. He’s not the guy and whether or not Pryor is has nothing to do with that.
