Raiders back at practice after bye week

The Raiders are back on the practice field today after spending the past four days recharging their batteries during the bye week.
Well, most of the Raiders, are on the field, anyway. As has been the case all season, the Raiders aren’t anywhere near full strength in terms of their offensive line.
In fact, the Raiders are in as bad a shape on the offensive line as they have been since training camp opened.
On Monday, the Raiders practiced with Khalif Barnes, Lucas Nix, Lamar Mady, Mike Brisiel and Matt McCants on the first-team line.
Regular center Stefen Wisniewski worked with a team trainer off to the side as he continued his rebab from a knee injury. His status for Sunday’s game against the Pittsburgh Steelers is questionable, though an official designation won’t be given until Friday.
Left offensive tackle Jared Veldheer still is in the midst of his rehab from a torn triceps that he suffered during training camp. He isn’t expected back until Nov. 3, at the earliest.
Right offensive tackle Tony Pashos remains out with a hip injury that he suffered against the Kansas City Chiefs on Oct. 13. Rookie Menelik Watson (calf) and primary backup Andre Gurode (knee) also aren’t healthy enough to practice.
As a result, the Raiders signed Jason Foster to their practice squad Monday, as another layer of insurance. He was with the Raiders last season and this year during camp.
Beyond that, the Raiders are healthy at just about every other position, with the exception of strong safety, where Tyvon Branch remains out with an ankle injury.

– Linebacker Miles Burris also worked out with a team trainer during the early portion of practice today.
He is eligible to come off the physically unable to perform list because he already spent the required six weeks there. The fact the Raiders haven’t cleared him to practice yet signals that Burris’ recovery isn’t complete.
If the Raiders clear Burris for practice, they have 21 days in which to make a move with Burris. The options are: activate him to the 53-man roster, place him on season-ending injured reserve or release him.

    NEXT MAN UP..

  • seymour bush

Time to get back to work.

  • R8erEduc8er

Is it the players or the medical staff/trainers?

  • seymour bush

Lot of injuries this year to every team.

  • Jeff

Agreed, next man up. We need to get better on the O-line no matter who is out there. The Rookies need to work their butts off. We need to provide Pryor the best scenario to continue to improve his game. Go Raiders

“@klazziic: was wondering if you can ask DA if trading DMC for an OLineman is a possibility ?” >> nah

Chris Mortensen of ESPN reports that Finley remains in the intensive care unit at an area hospital on Monday, but that tests have come back negative thus far and that Finley has regained almost all movement after not being able to move immediately after taking a hit from Browns safety Tashaun Gipson. Tom Pelissero of USA Today adds that Finley is not expected to require surgery.

Am I the only one that always appreciated a “textbook, squat low, head up, wrap defender, and take him down” tackle more than the blow up tackle? Yea, you make ESPN with the big hits, but most of them come from the blind side or on a WR coming down to the ground after jumping for a catch. Even I can blow someone up like that. We need to get back to applauding and praising the textbook tacklers.

Word of advice to Sam Bradford: When you find out where Missile Mike is, make damn sure you’re someplace else! Dude looked like he was shot out of a cannon.

  • 10centsworth

I wonder how much effect this concussion situation has on players willingness to “man up”? I don’t think that back in the daze, players worried about their “careers”. They thought about next Sunday and getting onto that field. Now saying that is good, mind you, but…

  • http://www.cosmicdanceband.com/ SilverandBlack666

Yes they were good soldiers kind of like the ones your mother serviced as a prostitute during wartime…I imagine you have mixed feelings about it…..did you ever find out who your father was?….has lashing out at the world like a “keyboard gangster” helped at all?

  • R8erEduc8er

Lol dang, who pizzed in your cereal?

  • JLofty

Ahh back in the office after a brief vacation. Always good to recharge….

  • http://www.cosmicdanceband.com/ SilverandBlack666

He was acting all internet gangster tough with me a couple of weeks ago in here and he made a comment about how the next thing out of my mouth would be about his mother….I just obliged

  • JLofty

Here’s hoping we don’t play another game with 3rd string linemen at EVERY spot. Dang! That was tough to watch last week…..

  • Sir Raider Duck, OMS

At least Pitt’s front seven isn’t at KC’s level. If Wiz can be back for Sunday, that will help a ton.

  • Raider Al from Atlanta, Ga

That was a clean push. Bradford tried to tiptoe out of bounds and caught his cleats.

  • Rico Stifler

No one did, but 10cents does deserve it though, but at least he is worth more than his mom, 5cents…..

  • Rico Stifler

I think we should go ahead and trade for a OG now rather than wait for one to hit FA or the draft. I’d either offer a late pick for a young, solid OG in the last year of his deal or offer a 3rd for a young, solid OG with a few years left on his deal….

  • Rico Stifler

10cents always act that way. lol. He was going gangster on me for a while there…

  • The_Judge37

Damn, looks like nothing changed. I was hoping to at least get one Lineman back.

  • RaiderDebo

    Never said it wasn’t.

  • BossKnows01

Trade Dmac for an o-lineman? The best any team is gonna offer is a practice squad lineman for dmac

  • http://www.cosmicdanceband.com/ SilverandBlack666

Sucks when your trying to have a friendly convo or a little debate and some one chimes in like that..stay cool Rico

  • BossKnows01

If I were the gm I would hang on to dmac at a lower price, his versatility can still be used in many ways.

  • BossKnows01

As for his durability, look at all the RB’s out there, he’s not the only one, its a tough position to play and stay healthy, probably the toughest, Doug Martin, Arian Foster, Steven Jackson, Ahmad Bradshaw, all the Giants, Packers and Steelers RB’s, the list is endless, you’re not gonna get a durable RB nowadays, they’re a dime a dozen, get ova it.

  • The_Judge37

They don’t make RB’s like they used to.

  • BossKnows01

People want to replace dmac with Latavious Murray? gtfoh
He wasnt even able to make it out of training camp healthy.

  • The_Judge37

No, I think most people here would rather just replace him with Marcell Reese until he gets injured, then replace him with Latavius Murray.

  • Rico Stifler

Personally, I want to sign Ben Tate or draft Lache Seastrunk….

  • Rico Stifler

I wish we could trade down and get an extra 2nd and 4th and then get WR Mike Evans in the first and get QB Derek Carr and RB Lache Seastrunk in the 2nd. Get OL and DL in the 3rd and 4th rounds…..

  • The_Judge37

I don’t think Reggie is capable of doing that. He can get us a few conditional 6th rounders. So hopefully those guys would drop that far down.

  • R8erEduc8er

I think they treated Murray like they treated M King last year. He got “redshirted”.

  • R8erEduc8er

Agreed. Dmac should be a change of pace back and not the primary back imo. Use him more in the passing game (screens, etc.). He’s a great pass blocking RB.

  • R8erEduc8er

Your draft slot and the players available when you’re on the clock dictates what a GM can and cannot trade for.

  • fingersrdrs

Kind of cool watching the Donkeys get a Loss last night…
We need to get that Oline back in shape
Haven’t had our starters out there once this season

  • Papertiger

    No one got arrested?

    Well, that’s a refreshing change!

  • Papertiger

Does that make his grandson 50¢?

That’s what I call social mobility!

  • The_Judge37

Yup, because we have absolutely no use for a good RB this year.

  • Purvisman/Eternal Optimist

That’s why the Grand Pootbutt is so popular…Dumbazz.

  • Davy Jones

Let DMac test FA, and if you can sign him for a bargain, do it. Then find a new Michael Bush bruiser to run up the middle and run DMac on the edge and incorporate some plays where you split him out wide as a receiver.

When DMac has one of his “on” games, he’s fun to watch. But he just can’t seem to make those lunchpail carries for a tough 4 yards. And at the end of the day, that’s an RBs real job- not the highlight reel runs.

  • the inimitable dr robert

    Oh good. Jason foster.

  • The Big Banana

“On Monday, the Raiders practiced with Khalif Barnes, Lucas Nix, Lamar Mady, Mike Brisiel and Matt McCants on the first-team line.”

    Championship!

  • the inimitable dr robert

Do we have a single player on his way to the pro bowl?

Woodson might get a nod. Reece made it last year with the same stats at this stage.

Taiwan jones might be our best bet. Condo always in the running. King?

  • http://www.cosmicdanceband.com/ SilverandBlack666

Good one, that is exactly what he would say.

  • the inimitable dr robert

Well at least we have the “explosive, unstoppable, can’t-catch-him, playmaker” Pryor.

  • http://www.cosmicdanceband.com/ SilverandBlack666

I liked the Soulful Dr Robert better…

  • Davy Jones

Pryor has a better QBR than Tom Brady for 2013, he should get some pro bowl consideration.

  • plunkhead

Don’t forget “win games single handily”
Theres two of those coming in the next ten

  • the inimitable dr robert

    Many facets.

  • plunkhead

Don’t give up on Lamarr yet
