Raiders back at practice after bye week

The Raiders are back on the practice field today after spending the past four days recharging their batteries during the bye week.
Well, most of the Raiders, are on the field, anyway. As has been the case all season, the Raiders aren’t anywhere near full strength in terms of their offensive line.
In fact, the Raiders are in as bad a shape on the offensive line as they have been since training camp opened.
On Monday, the Raiders practiced with Khalif Barnes, Lucas Nix, Lamar Mady, Mike Brisiel and Matt McCants on the first-team line.
Regular center Stefen Wisniewski worked with a team trainer off to the side as he continued his rebab from a knee injury. His status for Sunday’s game against the Pittsburgh Steelers is questionable, though an official designation won’t be given until Friday.
Left offensive tackle Jared Veldheer still is in the midst of his rehab from a torn triceps that he suffered during training camp. He isn’t expected back until Nov. 3, at the earliest.
Right offensive tackle Tony Pashos remains out with a hip injury that he suffered against the Kansas City Chiefs on Oct. 13. Rookie Menelik Watson (calf) and primary backup Andre Gurode (knee) also aren’t healthy enough to practice.
As a result, the Raiders signed Jason Foster to their practice squad Monday, as another layer of insurance. He was with the Raiders last season and this year during camp.
Beyond that, the Raiders are healthy at just about every other position, with the exception of strong safety, where Tyvon Branch remains out with an ankle injury.

– Linebacker Miles Burris also worked out with a team trainer during the early portion of practice today.
He is eligible to come off the physically unable to perform list because he already spent the required six weeks there. The fact the Raiders haven’t cleared him to practice yet signals that Burris’ recovery isn’t complete.
If the Raiders clear Burris for practice, they have 21 days in which to make a move with Burris. The options are: activate him to the 53-man roster, place him on season-ending injured reserve or release him.

Not at DE. Too many big time sack guys.

  • Davy Jones

;-) What, no response? I guess you can’t troll a troll.

  • the inimitable dr robert

What’s funny is Brady will probably make it.

  • plunkhead

He is playing his position as well as any other Raider so I have to give him some props
Who is the MVR so far?

  • the inimitable dr robert

Plus several “lose it by himself” games.

  • Davy Jones

More due to rep than performance? Agreed.

  • the inimitable dr robert

    Woodson.

  • Theghostronin79

    Perhaps Taiwan Jones……”Gunner”

  • Theghostronin79

    Oooops, didn’t finish reading

  • Theghostronin79

    ummm…..Maybe Woodson?

  • the inimitable dr robert

Luck made it last year when his numbers weren’t actually very good.

  • Davy Jones

Been meaning to tell you, love your Jimmy avi. Big time Zeppelin fan myself, many bootlegs.

  • Davy Jones

This is what happens when you let the fans vote.

  • SR Raider

Looks like 5 key injuries on the o-line: Veldeer, Wiz, Watson, Pashos, Gurode. Wonder what the league average is at this point in the season? 2-3? It’s definitely hurting the results

  • SR Raider

Raider defenders are tackling machines this year. Seems like the first guy makes the tackle almost every time. Just the way it should be

  • the inimitable dr robert

Well maybe the Pryor Brigade can get him in with a big campaign.

  • Nick Gancayco

Pro bowl is voted by fans and players right? So usually just the most popular players and or players making a huge splash (sacks, large amount of yds or tds, big mouth, etc. its still a long season who knows who could step up.

  • Rico Stifler

Yeah, I think he just took what he could get from Miami in the last draft.

  • RediaR

Not having 5 of the team’s best 7 offensive lineman is not good at all.

  • RediaR

    Pryor bruh

  • Nick Gancayco

I think we have to go pass rusher in the 1st or 2nd round. Teams dont usually let good pass rushers go in free agency so it will be hard to find one there. U can get good rbs in the 3rd and 4th rounds.

  • RediaR

So do 17 other starting QBs.

  • Nick Gancayco

I thought he had surgery on his ankle…

  • RediaR

The anything over the minimum and I don’t like the move.

  • Nick Gancayco

Yea pitts D is avg this yr. They arent the juggernaught they used to be. And the O isnt very good either. Stop the run, Get to Ben early force some turnovers. It can be done

  • RediaR

    1) I’m not sure about Murray, but certainly someone replacing McFadden would be nice.
    2) Really? One training camp injury and suddenly he’s never gonna make it.

  • RediaR

He is pretty damn versatile. He can wear a walking boot on his left foot or his right foot. He can choose to run directly into the MLB or one of the outside LBs instead of the hole. He can choose to drop a ball out of the backfield or catch it and get hurt. So much to his game.

  • Nick Gancayco

What donu think players would rather have, a concussion or a torn acl/mcl? It seems like a lot of defenders are diving at wr legs so they dont get penalized/ fined for hittinf above the head. What do u think? A ton of torn acls this yr from both sides of the ball

  • Purvisman/Eternal Optimist

Well, that’s a change of pace.

  • KoolKell

    Can’t you masturbate in private?

  • Nick Gancayco

Texans just released their third round pick sam montgomery DE/OLB out of LSU for violating team rules…any chance raiders try to pick him up?

  • RealTruRaider

    Nope

  • RealTruRaider

    lol

  • The_Judge37

Doesn’t sound like the guy loves football and God, so no.

  • The Beeeeech Dawg

Krappy, I’m giving excellent free advice, you should be thanking me. Lord knows how many times you’ve spanked it to your Matlock vhs.

  • the inimitable dr robert

I said pro bowl, not hall of fame.

  • http://www.cosmicdanceband.com/ SilverandBlack666

I love those old bootlegs….do you have for badgeholders only where Keith Moon joins Bonham on the drums?

  • Raidersfan727

wow not a single O lineman back… I thought the injuries were minor, this is a big shot to our chances this weekend

  • the inimitable dr robert

Many people wanted us to draft Montgomery.

They also cut ND RB cierre wood, who I wanted.

Reggie needs to look into them.

  • plunkhead

Me and little miss priss vacationed there. We met some locals, drank and smoked by the waterfall, then we went for a walk. We got back to Vegas, had the film developed and the locals had used our camera. They stood around the waterfall mooning and shaking their willys, smiling and waving. Nice fellas!

  • Nick Gancayco

Yea i think they are worth “a look” at least. Wood had some noce moments at ND last yr n was a big piece for them going undefeated in the regular season and montgomery was a constant disruption for lsu. Some people were saying he was a late 1st/2nd round talent. Kid’s gotta get his head on straight.t

  • Papertiger

Sssh! You shouldn’t bring up significant others around the Beech right now; he’s going through a break-up.

Hopefully, the gentle Haiwaiian waves will wash the pain away, homey.

  • Rico Stifler

Michael Johnson is for sure to hit to open market as Cincy just extended Dunlap and Atkins to big money deals. They talked of possibly extending/resigning Johnson, but then they extended Dunlap for like 40M the next day and they gave Atkins like 50M a month later.

  • BossKnows01

Look at all the RB’s around the league, most of them are on crutches

  • IBRaiderKing

Yea.. people to look at the glory positions and criticize oakland.. but in truth with the line as degraded as they are… the offense cant function at all like its supposed to.

  • IBRaiderKing

Yep and don’t forget McFadden. The offensive line doesn’t play any roll in the Raiders ability to run or pass. You read these comments and you think the line doesn’t freakin matter.

  • IBRaiderKing

Amen, Davey Jones. I like moneyball. Basehits all the way down the field. McFadden is a narrow visioned running back that hits home runs or strikes out. And man, when he is off, he cant hit the ball at ALL.

I would much prefer a guy that gets 4 yard every carry with the occasional 20 yarder.

  • R8erEduc8er

I think the injury wasn’t as serious as they led on. They were pretty silent on the extent of his injury…just said ankle injury and was put on season-ending IR. I believe they went into the season knowing Dmac, Jennings, and Reece will carry the load and wasn’t expecting much from Murray in his rookie year. They expected big things from Dmac plus Murray’s injury happened at the wrong time…right before the season. Murray didn’t really have enough time to showcase what he brings to the table and roster spots are too valuable…so he got redshirted imo. Haven’t heard much on Murray since he went on IR. I wonder how healthy he is right now.

  • R8erEduc8er

Roster spots (even practice squad) are too valuable to keep an injured Murray when you have capable veterans like Dmac, Reece, and Jennings. Sux but I think it was smart to redshirt Murray.
