Raiders waive DT Bilukidi, claim LB off waivers

By Steve Corkran
Wednesday, October 23rd, 2013 at 2:40 pm in Oakland Raiders.

The Raiders waived defensive lineman Christo Bilukidi this afternoon and claimed off waivers linebacker Martez Wilson from the New Orleans Saints.
Bilukidi was from the 2012 draft class that has failed to yield any sure-fire starters. Linebacker Miles Burris flourished last season after an injury to Aaron Curry, but he hasn’t been cleared to practice yet after offseason knee surgery.
Wilson, 25, played in four games for the Saints this season and 33 during his three seasons for New Orleans. He is 6-foot-4 and 252 pounds and played collegiately at Illinois.
Bilukidi, 23, appeared in five of Oakland’s six regular-season games this year. He recorded five tackles during spot duty as a backup. He played in 13 games as a rookie, when he notched eight tackles.

Saw ‘em at the Rose Palace in Pasadena in ’69. Walking distance from my house. They were helping hump their own equipment off the truck onto stage.
    Sorry, don’t remember the playlist.

Or one that says “World traveler/famous Blogger” 100% approval rate!

  • Purvisman/Eternal Optimist

I said Warmack if we couldn’t get a decent deal trading down. That’s what get for listening to the draftniks.

I knew you were a cool dude Purv!

  • SnBG

Whenever my aunt would come to visit we would go to IHop. Fantastic for breakfast.

  • plunkhead

Saw them closing night at the forum, They flew to SF, played once? and that was it.

  • Al_is_theraiders

i like the pickup fast and big…likely means burris is on his way out too….at least shreks consistent…he consistently fvcks up.

  • SnBG

Saw them 3 times. In the Colosseum arena in Oakland. At the day on the green on the Raiders field and when they trashed the Fairmont and Bill Graham said he’d never work with again then at Kezar with Marlon Brando.

  • The_Judge37

Yup, whenever your aunt would come see me, we would go to IHop. Fantastic for late night breakfast

  • Davy Jones

Absolutely, shouldn’t be too hard to find. In fact, I bet the whole show is on YouTube.

Here’s the audio of the tracks Moon plays on. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WpWm1UNdk_E

  • Purvisman/Eternal Optimist

Probably made that one too. Saw ‘em there a couple times, I believe. don’t think I missed ‘em in the LA area, not that I can remember another venue they would’ve played at. Long Beach Arena maybe.

    You rock Davy!!
    Thanks

  • Davy Jones

There were many LP versions of that show put out as bootlegs. There are always a few on sale on ebay, but you will pay through the nose.

So Led Zeppelin is the common denominator between you and I….who would have thunk?

  • seymour bush

The Saints were using Wilson as a rush end last year. He has had injury issues, otherwise would have gone higher than the 3rd round where he was picked. This guy is not so much a LB as an end or situational pass rusher. But I guess anything is possible.

  • Davy Jones

I’d try seeing if there are record expos and collector shows in your area and go to one of those, you might do a little better. Plenty of CD bootlegs of this show as well. And for the record, there are lots of places online where you can get a torrent of the show for nothing.

  • Davy Jones

Holy Sh*t, you lucky bastard! ;-)

well, it was bound to happen, Bilukidi was one of Als old scouts pick, and after the draft Reggie fired those scouts, so I dont think Bilukidi had much leeway.. As far as I remember this Wilson-guy should be great ST-player..

  • KoolKell

Yeah sounds like ST ace rather than linebacker.

  • SnBG

Maybe he just wasn’t very good.

  • Purvisman/Eternal Optimist

When the question arises ‘Beatles or Stones’ I’d say Zeppelin. My best friend would say The Who. We agreed on #1 and #2, just not the order.
Of course, if pressed we’d say Stones and explain why the Beatles aren’t really in the conversation.

  • R8erEduc8er

I liked Bilukidi…oh well. He’ll prob be claimed for the practice squad if he clear waivers.

  • Raider Rick

Means Buris aint ready yet…remember they were trying to get Urlacher to come here. Burris’ injury probably had setbacks. Bilukidi…oh well…no homecoming next year…..sucks for him….and Watson is on thin ice too……

  • Purvisman/Eternal Optimist

My freind the Who fan(mentioned below) was my football and Raider mentor as well. He moved to Arcata and the Who’s “Final concert” was at the Oakland Coliseum. Might have been the final one with Moon.
I flew up and he drove down. Great time.

  • 0ak R8rs

In don’t recall too many people on the Christo bilokidi bandwagon. I certainly wasn’t. But you’re the only one happy it didn’t work out. Giddy w joy.

  • plunkhead

My buddy worked for a rental car place and I got paid to drink and drive cars from vegas to cal, so we bought tickets and took a greyhound home, the good old days

  • 0ak R8rs

Perhaps. But your supposition is no more valid than mine. We may as well just say all 22 suck w that pessimistic view. Fact is, whatever we get from 2012 is ok w me. It wasn’t even a real draft. Is it disappointing? Sure. But plenty of teams miss on 6th round picks. To lazy to look of up, but I’d actually guess MOST miss actually.

  • Tyler Miller

Put Wilson on the end and let em loose!!!

  • Davy Jones

Yeah, looking at his QB sacks and pressures on video, you never saw him outright beating someone at the line, he was mostly unblocked or in traffic. But I like the strip sacks and the hard hit on Ponder, looks like Wilson was chopping at Ponder’s throwing arm- who knows, he might create a few turnovers.

  • Just Fire Baby

More than likely both Bilukidi and this dude both stink, and this is just the minutia of end of roster October moves in the NFL.
    Nothing to really see here.

  • Alex7

sounds like he’s an above-average special teamer, which given his 6’2 250 4.48 frame makes sense. Guessing that’s where he’ll make the most impact, and can rotate at RDE on some passing downs.

  • http://www.actionext.com/playlist_57486.html La Milicia Negra

hopefully, he isnt anything special, but I thought he on the long run could be..

  • Just Fire Baby

That is probably the high end of things. More than likely he will be an average ST guy without much impact on defense.

  • http://www.actionext.com/playlist_57486.html La Milicia Negra

    thnx

  • LB32

It was McKenzie’s show and I’m sure this move was planned.

All of last years draft were made by RM and co.

    http://espn.go.com/blog/afcwest/post/_/id/43566/report-raiders-fire-top-scout

  • LB32

I was reding this article, RM hasn’t been able to draft darn near anyone that done a dang thing for us.

    http://www.silverandblackpride.com/2013/10/23/5022278/another-draft-pick-is-gone-in-oakland-raiders-new-regime-overall-poor-draft-record

  • R8erEduc8er

I liked him for depth…that’s all.

  • Alex7

The Cardinals have 1 starter out of their first 4 picks.

I use them as they’re first in alphabetical order. I’m sure they’re not an uncommon situation. Waaaay too early to wonder about starters from the draft.

Just know that our first 3 picks are either starting or would be if not injured.

  • Purvisman/Eternal Optimist

Was feeding the last of the llamas and remembered seeing a Moon video tribute and the band syncing to a video recording of Moon playing drums. He was long dead, now that I think of it.
Well, if you remember any of that stuff clearly, you weren’t doing it right.

  • Al_is_theraiders

but you loved you some bilukudi…,

  • Al_is_theraiders

    exactly…..

  • Al_is_theraiders

this is funnier than flynn at qb….all you guys were saying bilukudi is a beast, we dont need another dt….now all of a sudden….awww he wasnt that good, just for depth…hilarious!

  • Chris in NY

    Agreed.

  • Carl weathers

Bilukidi did more than Kelly and Seymour had done in the past 2 years. I’ve seen his dad a few times around town decked out in serious raider gear real proud of his son. I thought he had a shot at being a long time raider and so did his old man, too bad he’s a good kid.

  • Alex7

anytime a 6th round pick gets playing time for you, you’ve done a very good job.

Compare to other 6th rounders: Travis Goethel, Slade Norris, Stryker Sulak…

  • LB32

Our aren’t even making the team! Heck, they aren’t even ST guys. RM was suposedly good at scouting draft picks. Other than saving us money, he hasn’t been able to draft anyone who is contributing.

  • Chris in NY

Situational pass rusher is something I’ve been harping about the last two years. Hopefully Wilson brings some value there.
