Pryor almost wound up with Steelers

Raiders quarterback Terrelle Pryor grew up in Pennsylvania and a fan of the Pittsburgh Steelers, but he wanted nothing to do with the Steelers once he reached the NFL.
Pryor told the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review that Steelers coach Mike Tomlin, who first met Pryor when Pryor was a teen-ager, offered to select Pryor in the NFL’s supplemental draft in 2011.
Ultimately, the Raiders used a third-round pick on Pryor in that draft. That means the Steelers had two shots at taking Pryor before he went to the Raiders.
“(Tomlin) said, ‘Hey, I’ll draft you if you want to play here,’ ” Pryor said. “But he gave me a story about when he was down in Tampa Bay, about a quarterback (Shaun King) that was there, and he ended up being in the same hometown. It was just hard for him; he ended up cutting out because of all the distractions. . . .
“I had to say no because, at a young age, I didn’t want to be near home and have distractions around me.”
Pryor grew up in Jeanette, Pa., a suburb of Pittsburgh. He also bolted town after a stellar high school career, accepting a scholarship to attend Ohio State, when he had his pick of colleges, including home-state hotbeds such as Penn State and Pitt.

Jim played at around 220, up to 230. Lester player linebacker/safety at A&M, was 6’3″ tall, played around 215/220. Tell me that guy couldn’t play today. He told me he NEVER thought he could play cornerback in the NFL, and accepted the move (pushed by Madden) under total duress and disbelief. BTW, he loves John Madden. As do I.

    CODE BLACK!!!
The Rapist on HIS back for a change!

Do you remember Ravazza’s Restaurant. Raiders players always came there and the teams that played them would have Friday night dinners there.

  • RelentlessIV

Ill be there this Sunday. I’m gonna get effin trashed.

  • 10centsworth

One thing you young guys should know about Tim Brown. He is a mealy mouthed know nothing that bad mouthed Madden when it was announced he was going into the HOF. Yeah. that Tim.

  • the electrifying dr robert

    Jim Otto was 6’2/255

    Lester Hayes was 6’0/200.

I met Lester a couple times. He was absolutely about 6 feet.

Hey P, do any shopping for cute dresses today?

  • RelentlessIV

Straight Ill be wearing my Raider championship leather jacket.

  • The_Judge37

I did, but they didn’t have your mothers size, XF (Extra Fat)

  • 10centsworth

I do, of course. I think it is still there. A couple of joints I worked at was Victoria Station, in Alameda, and the Equinox, up in the Oakland hills. Reggie Jackson wanted to buy the ‘Nox, call it Reggie’s. There was another notion about “celebrity” in those days. You didn’t see a player out on the bricks and ask for an autograph. Fawn over him. Instant way to get their displeasure. buy them a drink? hell yeah, get one back. They WANTED to hang out where they were just PART of the scene.

  • 10centsworth

Now the proof definitive. A quack. BS. Jim might have topped out over 230 in his later years but NOT in his prime. He was so banged up in his later years, he probably couldn’t work out.

  • 10centsworth

Enuff said. THAT’s a Raider? Not on sundays.

  • 10centsworth

I like Stuart. Too bad he never learned what an “angle” was.

  • RelentlessIV

Hell lets resign Chris Carr too.

  • RelentlessIV

He had a 98 yard pick six on Ben in 06′.

  • The_Judge37

    Carr is on the Saints.

  • the electrifying dr robert

Yeah idiot. One of the best. Dave Casper was a Catholic man too. Van. McElroy. Nap Kaufman. Many. Including Pryor.

We don’t need ur crap ideas of what a Raider is.

  • RelentlessIV

I know. I was just being goofy.

  • 10centsworth

hmmm, got the quack upset? I’ll bet pro football emptied more pews on Sundays than…common sense. Take that bet?

  • the electrifying dr robert

U just said Lester was 6’3!

U don’t know anything. I met the man. I’m 6’2 and he was shorter than me.

  • 10centsworth

From your lofty perch, everyone is “shorter”. You never met Lester Hayes.

  • the electrifying dr robert

    Upset? By u? Hardly.

    An unprovable “bet”?

Men with faith have fortitude and will not quit. Men without it generally crumble under pressure. No belief system.

  • 10centsworth

Men with “faith” are in a hurry to meet their maker. And send their neighbors kids to hell, for not thinking like they do. You one of those, you vile mouthed know it all?

  • the electrifying dr robert

How are u gonna tell me who I met?

I met him at a charity softball game at the SJ Giants park. And at an autograph session with Jack Tatum at a sports memorabilia store.

    Suck it.

  • 10centsworth

FYI, Carr had an “attitude” that took him beyond his talents. Still playing at the highest level in his sport. Hmmmm, yeah, I’d call it a Raider attitude.

  • 10centsworth

From you, thats a compliment. No, you never met no 6′ Lester Hayes.

  • the electrifying dr robert

Ur profane. There are some who perpetrate evil while pretending to be Christian. But they aren’t.

Good Christians have no desire to kill or die or judge.

Ur just attempting to run ur foul mouth in an inflammatory way cuz u got caught lying.

But I don’t get mad at jack azzes running their yaps.

  • the electrifying dr robert

Men with faith have virtue, honor, and a sense of loyalty.

Men without it find it easy to bail on others, since they lack anything to believe in. All of their morals are not rooted in a belief system. Easy to abandon those morals when it means saving urself.

  • 10centsworth

You didn’t deny what I said. curious. You think you are ascending to violins while your neighbors turn into crispy critters? That your idea of a “good” christian…because THAT is their belief. This isn’t the place to discuss this…and I’m done with this worthless topic. When your GOOD Xtians strap on their jocks, they do not walk in Jesus’s shoes. They play football, a violent sport. Oh, glad to see your “upset” button is so low. Others now know how to shut down your spews.

  • the electrifying dr robert

U dont make sense and u mean nothing to me.

U can’t tell me what I believe in. I know what Christians believe. Apparently ur easily duped.

  • 10centsworth

Ok. Take the “host”, and continue to be the good person we all know you are.

  • the electrifying dr robert

Lol. Believe what u want. 6’3. Classic.

  • 10centsworth

If you weren’t a piece of trash, I’d give you Lester’s number. He truly loves to talk football. With real fans.

  • the electrifying dr robert

    Lol. 6’3. U said that.

  • 10centsworth

Good. Back to normal, off the cross. Just blathering, as usual. Hi doc. Glad I could get your attention…and goat.

  • the electrifying dr robert

Sorry to disappoint but u couldn’t possibly upset me. It’s a blog.

But if its important to u (like others), u go ahead and believe what u want.

    6’3. Smh.

One suggestion, to ALL reading this exchange. Talk to Lester. He’s around. I’ll put my cred up against the quack on this. He “reads” and passes it off as personal knowledge. Ask the man, and when you do…let us know who has credibility. OK? Oh, doc…that includes you, if you EVER meet Lester.

  • 10centsworth

Doc, I don’t “believe” like some. I know. Lester makes appearances, lives in Modesto. Talk to him and get back to us. OK?

  • the electrifying dr robert

Lol. Ur one of those guys. U think u found a bone and ur gonna keep hanging onto it. Keep repeating that I never et him after I told u I did. Cuz u think it bothers me. Pathetic.

I met him twice. He’s 6 feet. And guess what? His listed height as a player jibes with what I say, not with what u say.

    Me and the nfl agree.
