Raiders learn of their London opponent

The league announced Thursday morning that the Raiders will host the Miami Dolphins in one of three games played in London in 2014.
The Falcons and Lions are playing, as well as the Jaguars and Cowboys. The uniqueness of the Raiders opponent is that the Dolphins come from within the AFC. Typically, the NFL prefers teams that play in London be from opposing conferences.
More on this later, perhaps with a comment from coach Dennis Allen and a player or two.

Maybe someone trying to play with the spread?

The one time the phins have to fly to the west coast against us, London happens….

  • DJ Johnny

We know at least part of it is b.s. If Pryor hadn’t practiced yesterday Cork or Jerry would’ve reported at least that.

  • Purvisman/Eternal Optimist

Google, Cork, Tafur, JMac, and Levi know nothing aboutit, so I doubt it.

  • MaddenRaider

Amy Trask’s on Rome right now.

  • MaddenRaider

On being on television: “I spent 27 years with the Raiders running from cameras”

  • DJ Johnny

I guess I’m part of the ‘Pryor Brigade’ since RIGHT NOW I fully support him as our starting QB going forward for the next few years. But…that’s contingent on him leading us to victories and certainly not being the reason we lose games.
I’m not “Pryor forever no matter what”. so I don’t know if that qualifies me for full brigade status or not.

  • MaddenRaider

“biggest misperception about Al Davis is that you couldn’t disagree with him”

  • MaddenRaider

on Redskins name: “I think name will be changed. It’s incomprehensible we’re still having this discussion…try replacing ‘Redskin’ with any other derogatory slur”

  • Nick Gancayco

What is pryor brigade? Most ppl in here just want to win and realize that right now he gives us the best chance to win now and possibly in the future. Thats called being a knowledgable fan. No nickname needed. If he starts falling off and goes tebow on us then on to the next. But right now he’s just like a lot of other promising young qbs. Give him a shot

  • MaddenRaider

on NFL in LA: “won’t be an expansion team”

  • MaddenRaider

The alternative to the Pyror brigade is the Flynn road to nowhere.

  • The_Judge37

Wrong! You have to make a choice. You’re either with us or against us.

  • DJ Johnny

She and Jerry Jones both have said a team in LA is coming “very soon”, yet we hear NOTHING about anything substantive in regard to it.
    What does “soon” mean?
I don’t think it will be the Raiders…so who who’s gonna move there? San Diego?
You’d think Jerry Jones and Amy Trask would have some idea on how it would happen in LA..IF they would come out and say it will happen “soon”.

  • MachoManRandySavage

I tried watching Jim Rome a couple of times. I dont get it. How can a market exist for such a suck up,

  • DJ Johnny

    Then who? Chargers?

  • The_Judge37

    Da Rayduz

  • RediaR

    No, it’s not.

  • VanHeathen30

I’ve said for awhile it’ll be the Jaguars, low attendance and not a long history in Jax, combined with a#1 pick this year will make them seem marketable in LA.

  • Theghostronin79

NO…..I think he may have been Limited with “Turf Butt” from all the late sacks in KC.

    We missed you Ron!

    How are your Dolphins doing?

  • http://www.cosmicdanceband.com/ SilverandBlack666

closing deals making fun of midgets hating on Dolphin fans how about you?

  • http://www.cosmicdanceband.com/ SilverandBlack666

I am so glad Ron Mexico is back! Just in time too as he is a Dolphins fan…

  • DJ Johnny

“Redskins” seems to be an offensive nickname, but I don’t think “Braves or “Warriors” would be offensive. Teams don’t pick nick names that disparage them.
Not much outrage from the Scandinavian community in regard to “Vikings”, or the Irish in regard to having a drunken, violent midget with his fists in the air as Notre Dame’s logo.

  • MaddenRaider

She didn’t say. But you’d have to think that if she wasn’t thinking Raiders, she would have been clear about it.

  • MaddenRaider

    link?

  • The_Judge37

    Washington Pale Faces

  • MaddenRaider

“they do it too”. the last refuge of an intellectual argument, before the personal attack.

  • Ron Mexico

I am back Raider fans. And the fins have more wins!!!!!!

  • RediaR

Based on what we’ve seen so far, I don’t know how anyone can support him as anything more than a guy on a one year trial. The worst possible scenario is giving speedy Gabbert a second year. If he proves he’s good enough to move into future years with, of course do it, but that isn’t what we’ve seen at all. I support him for right now, but I’m not going to ignore his faults just to hope we’ve found a QB.

  • Theghostronin79

    BAAAAHHHH……….Coliseum City project moving forward

  • Sir Raider Duck, OMS

Because “Redskins” is a known derogatory term for American Indians. It would be like naming a team the “Washington Naggers,” only with an “i” instead of an “a” in the second word.

  • Ron Mexico

We are 3 and 3. Better than the Raiders.

  • MaddenRaider

    Atlanta Jarheads.

    Atlanta Bible Freaks.

If we’re really going for the equal opportunity offender thing.

  • plunkhead

Jags to LA? I think its the Rams. Jags are more likely to go to London

  • The_Judge37

The only thing offensive about the Braves is the Thousands of white people doing the “Chop”.

  • Nick Gancayco

Rams have been similar to the raiders in terms of high draft picks. Just havent hit any if them really.

  • Papertiger

Yeah but the appropriate analogue to the situation would be if the UK had a team in Belfast called The Micks. Celts or even Figjting Irish would be acceptable but Micks is over the line.

  • http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Johnnie_Lee_Higgins RaiderRockstar

    Washington Pale Faces
    ***
I’d rather be called pale face than democrat! now that would be offensive …

  • MaddenRaider

    Most offensive mascot ever:

    Atlanta Wal-Mart Shoppers.

The logo can be an obese woman pushing a cart with her butt crack showing.

  • DJ Johnny

I think when team originally picked nicknames like “Braves” or even “Indians” they didn’t do it to disparage the native American community. It was out of respect for their ferocity, or warring capacity obviously.
But…if it is offensive to that community then their thoughts on it should be respected. I don’t why “Braves” for instance would be disparaging but I’m not a native American so…

  • Sir Raider Duck, OMS

As for Rome: The man’s in his late 40s but talks like a inner-city teenager. It gets just a little more ridiculous every year.

And there’s always this as well: http://youtu.be/9HNgqQVHI_8

  • Papertiger

I honestly think The Washington Veterans would be the best way to go. Have a silhouette of a GI from WWII on the helmet. How could anyone protest that?

  • Sir Raider Duck, OMS

No, “offensive” would be being referred to as a Republican. “We’re going to shut the government down because poor people are getting health care! It’s UN-AMERICAN, dammit!”

  • MaddenRaider

Rome = inner city teenager? Sounds more like an Orange County spoiled brat.

  • The_Judge37

Washington Congressman, Here to shut it down!

  • MEX_GHOST

    Then “Just Keep McGoing”??
