Tarver apologizes for gesture

Raiders defensive coordinator Jason Tarver, caught on camera giving NFL officials an obscene gesture, gave the following statement Monday:

“I apologize for my action on the sideline of yesterday’s game. It was in the heat of the moment and I regret drawing attention away from the Raiders players and what they accomplished.’’

On the play, officials originally threw a flag on cornerback Mike Jenkins for a blow to the head. The flag was then picked up, and there was no penalty on the play.

The Raiders beat the Pittsburgh Steelers 21-18.

The way the game played out is exactly why you slow the game down. 2 fumbles by Ford, 2 INTs by Pryor, luckily 2 missed short kicks by Suisham, had there been more plays in the game it’s likely we lose.

  • RaidingTexas

That isn’t the 93 yard TD. Looks like right after that bullshyt non-touchback after the punt.

  • Sir Raider Duck, OMS

OMG! Going conservative with an 18-point lead at home! What is the world coming to???

  • lefty12

That may be the perception, but often perception isn’t reality. And of course Allen gives Tarver props, thats what good coaches do.

  • RaidingTexas

But they didn’t lose. Defense held tough. It was great. Life is good. Take some Lexapro.

  • RealTruRaider

Hopefully we get Pasho’s, Gurode, Watson back next week or at least 1 of them. I believe Veldheer can start practicing but he went to a specialist today to see how close he is to being ready

  • r8ter4evr

Beach my motto with the naysayers last night Dont Worry Be Happy Give it some twist cause all that matters is Jusf Win Baby

  • RaidingTexas

I doubt anybody is arguing that there isn’t room for improvement.

  • aig

BUT WE WON BOTH GAMES. We lost to Indy and would have won if we were playing a tad more conservatively on that first drive. Take the FG with a young QB on the road vs bombing for a TD. We got one of the crappiest OL in the league now.

  • SnBG

The Steelers had figured Pryor out and where forcing him to throw. They where daring him to throw. He did and threw 2 ints. Can’t blame Allen for shutting it down. We finally have a D in which the HC has confidence in to hold a team.

  • Dakota

I am pretty sure Veldheer isn’t coming back anytime soon. He tore his triceps. We will be lucky to have him back by early December, if at all.

  • KoolKell

Btw Allen admitted to going conservative in the. 2nd half.

  • RealTruRaider

All that matters to some on here is to prove to the blog they are right, even though they have been proven wrong on damn near everything so far.

  • Chuck

This is the sports world not the wall street journal. The packers sucked for 30 years before they came back and won another super bowl and even though they are spread out they have 4 rings in sports you go by the whole body of work.I guess you were sleep when we won 3 straight division titles and a super bowl appearance 11 years ago,or when Bo took us to the afc title game before he had his career ruined. The lost of a player like Bo in his prime can mess up anybody.

  • RealTruRaider

Yes he has, in multiple interviews

  • Purvisman/Eternal Optimist

Of course I am, and to all primates.

    It’s evolution, baby!

  • RaidingTexas

In all fairness, that 2nd INT was not Pryor’s fault. But your point is still valid. Too many mistakes, including the idiotic play by Ford.

  • The Big Banana

    Lol. Truth!

  • SnBG

You guys keep saying this about DMC but you are not showing any proof a trade.

  • Sir Raider Duck, OMS

And Belichick, Parcells, Madden, Lombardi, etc, etc, wouldn’t have done it any differently. Big lead at home + good defense = going conservative.

  • r8ter4evr

The rest of the NFL knows we are not a easy win NO MORE

  • lefty12

Depends on the severity of the tear.If it was only partially torn he could return sooner. Why would Allen even bring it up at his press conference if JV couldn’t possibly return fairly soon?

  • SnBG

    That’s all I’m saying.

  • Dakota

3 more minutes of game time and we would have lost. I agree with KK. Can’t shut it down and try to hold onto a lead every time.

  • RaidingTexas

True. I didn’t say he would be back in week 9. Just per rules, that’s the earliest.

  • The Beeeeech Dawg

You ever stare at yourself naked in the mirror and just bawl your eyes out?

  • jtdxyz

True…but running for almost 200 yrds and laying solid D helps

  • Purvisman/Eternal Optimist

D wouldn’t be playing well if not for Pryor.

  • DJ Johnny

Yeah. We can’t afford to just ignore that stuff. I’m still backing Pryor but he can’t continue to make these mental mistakes.

I wanna win. I have no agenda outside of that.

  • KoolKell

You speak for Duck, not Bellichek or Madden

  • Purvisman/Eternal Optimist

    Hah!

  • aig

here is my bottomline, is the league giving props to Tarver or Allen for our D? I guarantee you Tarver is getting the majority of the credit if not all. You guys may not like it but that’s the reality.

  • Dakota

why did hue talk about McFadden coming back week after week in 2011? keep hope alive and sell tickets.

  • RealTruRaider

Chiefs are doing decent and they have been on the bottom all year

  • PlunkforHOF

Touchdown came from the other direction. this is looking over the Black Hole.

  • SnBG

I agree, that was a fantastic performance Pryor put on.

  • PlunkforHOF

    Think this is 2nd half

  • SnBG

    Why wouldn’t he?

  • lefty12

Because Hue was a loud mouth idiot.Allen won’t even talk about minor injuries or injuries where guys have surgery.Comparing apples to oranges.

  • RaidingTexas

Pittsburgh shut the run down. You sure didn’t want to throw a bunch of underneath stuff with that LB corp and Poly running around. So that leaves you with the deep ball option. You really wanted them to just have TP chuck it down the sideline every down in the second half? Today we’d all be wanting Allen and Olson fired because they DID blow a 21-3 lead.

  • SnBG

    WOW, Changing you’re tune.

  • iowaraider

Why should Tarver apologize? He should have used both hands for that lousy call!

  • Purvisman/Eternal Optimist

Not sure? And you drove back to Reno? At least you went to the game. UInlike His Holy Pootbuttiness. Who lives right down the street. Under the dumpster.

  • Dakota

    true lol

  • aig

BS. The 2nd int was not TPs faults. The first int was TP’s fault but he was being chased. Of all the times he was being chased, that was the first bad overthrow to an open guy. I bet you didnt complain when he was scrambling out there and completing vs SD. I think you’ve seen QBs make mistakes when being chased. WTH is wrong with you guys. I’m effin happy we won with that shytt load of a line. Judge TP when we finally have a healthy line. Until then, I’m effin happy as hell we win…by any mean possible.

  • Sir Raider Duck, OMS

The team has announced that Tarver’s punishment will be handled “internally.”

Translation: He’ll take Mark, Reggie, Raleigh, DA and Olson out to IHOP tomorrow and they’ll call it good. IMHO, he did nothing deserving any “punishment” greater than that.

  • Raider O

    Evolution?!?!
    Are you new here?

  • Purvisman/Eternal Optimist

    Just evolved.

  • SnBG

Texas gets my point, to many mistakes to not play conservative with a lead, My point is also that Pryor needs to not always feel like he has to make a play. He is improving on that as I saw him hold the ball a few times instead of throwing to an int. Point also is Allen can’t take the chance right now and trust Pryor to hold a lead when he has made some bad mistakes in critical situations.

  • Purvisman/Eternal Optimist

The fricking elephant in the room is, other than Pryors electrifying run, he wasn’t even quite mediocre. He kind of stunk.
