Tarver apologizes for gesture

By Jerry McDonald - NFL Writer
Monday, October 28th, 2013 at 12:54 pm in Oakland Raiders.

Raiders defensive coordinator Jason Tarver, caught on camera giving NFL officials an obscene gesture, gave the following statement Monday:

“I apologize for my action on the sideline of yesterday’s game. It was in the heat of the moment and I regret drawing attention away from the Raiders players and what they accomplished.’’

On the play, officials originally threw a flag on cornerback Mike Jenkins for a blow to the head. The flag was then picked up, and there was no penalty on the play.

The Raiders beat the Pittsburgh Steelers 21-18.

Now that is a good post.

  • iowaraider

Unless Reggie is really hungry and they decide to hit a buffett somewhere

  • lefty12

You are basing your statement on your opinion, not facts. We don’t know who people in the league are giving all the credit to.I’d guess Allen gets most of it,but that is my opinion.

  • KoolKell

Pryor opens the game with a 93 yd run, gets to an early 21-3 lead………………wtf scared DA so damn bad that he had to shutdown the game?

  • Purvisman/Eternal Optimist

He was just suggesting which finger they should pick that flag up with.

  • RealTruRaider

    Let them boobs hangout!!!

  • SnBG

Great game stratagy in the final qt of the game by the coaches. We won. Isn’t that the bottom line.

  • http://Raiders.com/ Dan78

He had those puppies swinging in the postgame interview yesterday……

  • lefty12

Ford treating the ball like a hot potato and balls bouncing off receivers hands might have had something to do with it.

  • The Beeeeech Dawg

Remember when Cork told you to go kick rocks? Man, that’s still funny

  • SnBG

Have you not been reading any of our comments?

  • KoolKell

By a whisker. Good thing Jennings was able to recover the onside kick. He could just as easily not have and were talking about a horrible azz loss

  • SnBG

Most of Raider nation was flipping of the refs. Good thing they changed that call. That’s a real good sign of things to come. An omen if you will.

  • The Beeeeech Dawg

Did you forget to take your meds?

  • SnBG

I’m hungry now also, think I’ll join them.

  • iowaraider

I think the ref should have not only picked up the flag, he should have been required to place such flag in the most inopportune oriface on his body.

  • Dakota

A win is a win, but a win with signs of improvement and signs that you could beat a good team instead of just another bottom dweller are what you need to look for.

  • SnBG

Oh, that’s not a good image, especially if I’m going to join Reg and the gang at Ihop

  • Raider O

Trade for J Gordon. Give them a 2nd and a player.

  • Sir Raider Duck, OMS

Too risky unless we KNOW he’s not using anymore.

  • Raider O

Good thing the Steelers kicker missed 2 FGs.

  • SnBG

But we’re not. Don’t be so nit picky and enjoy the win.

  • aig

yes Sir!!!! Thanks for the info. I can’t wait until we get just an avg OL out there. Right now, none of our guys other than Wiz and maybe Barnes would start for any legit playoff team.

  • Gdog

Well sooner or later he is going to have to trust Pryor to make some passes with a lead… unless he doesn’t care if Pryor becomes any better than he already is. Which would seem to indicate he doesn’t think he will be around for long here.

You don’t just roll up into a ball every time you get a lead in the NFL… you normally lose every game. The ONLY reason Olson didn’t was the kicker kept missing chip shot FGs.
Is that what he is hoping the rest of the way out??

  • SnBG

No, one more suspension and Gordon is gone.

  • Purvisman/Eternal Optimist

It’s still fun to watch, over and over again.

watch Streater catch up and Moore covering his six.

  • Gdog

That is the craziest damn thing I have ever seen! Good gawd…

  • KoolKell

Do your thing, I’ll do mine, ok? You ain’t got no reason to tell me what to do, youngster

  • Purvisman/Eternal Optimist

We’re not talking about you, pootbutt.

  • http://www.cosmicdanceband.com/ SilverandBlack666

Almost losing to Pittsburgh (2-4 team) at home is about what we can expect from our team in rebuilding mode. 88 yards passing and 2 INT’s are not going to get it done every week in this league.

  • aig

WTH. Playing conservatively with a lead led to wins vs Jags, SD and Pitt. Would you rather be aggressive and lose games like KC and Indy? I see you prefer showtime vs wintime. I wonder if KC is complaining about its victories this year.

  • http://www.cosmicdanceband.com/ SilverandBlack666

    #Pryor’s Fault

  • Purvisman/Eternal Optimist

Pryor opens the game with a 93 yd run,…
What did he contribute after that to get to 21 pts?

  • http://www.cosmicdanceband.com/ SilverandBlack666

You better do what SnBG says old man or no more sponge baths for you!

  • Dakota

    88 yards. smh

  • SnBG

MNC is going to talk about that evil Tarver.

  • Purvisman/Eternal Optimist

If we’re youngsters, you’re way too old to pay attention to.

  • aig

Allen went out of his way to say Tarver is coaching his butts off. When the D is playing well, do people say that’s the coach or the coordinator. When the team plays well, the coach gets the credit.

  • http://www.cosmicdanceband.com/ SilverandBlack666

I cannot confirm or deny that Tarver has signed a deal with the devil…

  • Gdog

Anything to get Nix out of the lineup, and hopefully onto the practice squad. For an OC so bent upon sending McF straight up the gut, we don’t need a guard so slow and clueless at run blocking he usually gets in his way if he manages to not whiff his assignment!

He is clearly the worst run-blocker I have ever seen…

  • Dakota

RaiderO knows Pryor would be #3 on the depth chart at The Ohio State University this year lol.

  • Purvisman/Eternal Optimist

    10/19 0 TD’s 2 Int’s

  • http://www.cosmicdanceband.com/ SilverandBlack666

    Led Zeppelin Pasadena enough said!

  • Purvisman/Eternal Optimist

Sometimes it’s good to be old.

  • Dakota

    The future is here….

  • aig

Up 21-3, the only way Pitt gets back into the game is by us turning the ball over like Ford did. But some of you Raider fans prefer style points. Seriously? Let me repeat….THE ONLY WAY PITT WILL GET BACK INTO IT IS BY OUR FUMBLE OR INT. Which we did exactly just that.

  • http://www.cosmicdanceband.com/ SilverandBlack666

I am pretty sure as fans, we can expect better than that, without being called a hater….let me look in my Hong Kong Book of Kung Foo…

  • Gdog

Like Bellichick has pumped the brakes on his offense once in his entire life!! Gawd what a dumb statement… its like he made up all the great coaches he could think of off the top of his head…

  • KoolKell

Bullsheet, the Steelers also missed 2 short FG’s

  • Sir Raider Duck, OMS

Exactly. The people whining about our win yesterday would probably also complain about the seat cushions on a lifeboat.
