Status quo on injuries

As the media window closed Thursday, still no sign of tackle Tony Pashos, or center-guard Andre Gurode, as well as strong safety Tyvon Branch.

Coach Dennis Allen said this week he didn’t consider Pashos or Gurode to be long-term injuries, but wasn’t sure when they’d be back at practice. Branch’s situation has been kept secret from the start. It’s been reported he fractured an ankle in Week 2 but the club never confirmed it.

Branch has been off crutches recently but hasn’t been spotted working with the training staff.

Left tackle Jared Veldheer made his first appearance working on the side with a trainer Thursday. Allen said Wednesday Veldheer’s rehab would “ramp up” following his visit with a doctor Monday.

Allen said Veldheer is on schedule for what he thought would be a three-month recovery from surgery, which would put his return at later this month.

With Menelik Watson also practicing, and Pashos and Gurode expected to return, the Raiders by their standards could have an abundance of healthy bodies along the offensive line at some point this month.

At that point, the Raiders would need to determine if Khalif Barnes reclaims his spot at right tackle even if Pashos is available. Gurode would compete with Lucas Nix at left guard. Right tackle Matt McCants has been a pleasant surprise in his three starts and gained valuable experience.

no brainer …to trade a QB with Pryor’s stats for Dez Bryant or Megatron

  • RaiderDebo

Chip Kelly has made some major screw ups as a HC. Legendary clock management snafus against the Chargers completely wasted an awesome performance by Vick, McCoy and Jackson. But make no mistake, his offense works. Not really like he would like it to if he had Vick, but we can’t count on Foles putting up the clunker he had against Dallas. We better play man-to-man all day long and play it well.

Who’s the big white guy on the OL #72? I thought that was Pashos. Saw him in yesterday’s practice photos suited up and practicing.

    Oh ok, Cornell.

  • Just Fire Baby

Eagles haven’t scored an offensive TD in 8 quarters, and have a whopping 6 turnovers over that time.
This thing is crashing and burning.

Tafur is saying it is an announced sellout

    We need Gurode.

  • Just Fire Baby

    Maybe as a backup.
1-3 in games he started, 2-1 in games he didn’t.

  • RTF916

If Ford doesn’t fumble, it’s not even a close game. Do we really need him? I don’t recall him having a really great game since that big overtime one against KC a few years ago.

  • RTF916

    Opportunity for a statement game.

never disrespect the great Redd Foxx. RIP!

  • Just Fire Baby

I just want to stay relatively in the mix for a WC spot come Turkey Day.
Need to prob win at least 2 more games up until that game.
Kind of a must win on Sunday. Certainly the first of DA’s career, and one of the first games where expectations of outperforming the other QB will be on TP.
Should be interesting to see how they both respond to expectations.

  • R8erEduc8er

“Well, swallow it and shut the f*ck up!”

What movie did Redd Foxx say that in?

  • KoolKell

The Raiders are usually out of the season by Halloween.

  • R8erEduc8er

Sure would make that Thanksgiving game that much more exciting!

  • BIGxPERRO

Kalihf Barnes deserves to start somewhere on the O-line! He’s been the most consistent and reliable guy on the line!

Thought you’d been a fan since ’64? That certainly wasn’t true during most of Al Davis’s oversight.

I’m going but I like to tape the games as well just in case I miss something…like Pryor’s TD run last week!

  • aig

pls tell me u didnt miss his run last week…too funny bro. John Madden was on the radio saying he was in his seat but not ready to watch the game yet so he missed the play.

  • PlunkforHOF

I saw the whole thing develop.. the hole in the center of the line was a mile wide, then Deuce ran right at us. Classic!

  • Just Fire Baby

I was sitting there cursing our inability to return a KO without a penalty and mumbling to not do anything stupid while backed up, lol.

  • R8erEduc8er

    *RAWK* Fat b*tch! Lol

    Classic movie.

  • Purvisman/Eternal Optimist

Should we tell His Pootbuttiness that there’s a new post? Or leave him here?

  • Purvisman/Eternal Optimist

    That qualified as ‘not stupid’.

  • Just Fire Baby

    KoolKell,
    Raiders -2.5 point favorites.
Care to give me the wow you gave me last Sunday when I predicted that?
Did you print it as well, like you said you would?

  • hwnrdr

LOL, I did…I was still getting through the gates

  • KoolKell

Maybe you took it out of context, I don’t remember.

  • KoolKell

I will say, I doubt very seriously DA sits on a halftime lead this week.

  • http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Johnnie_Lee_Higgins RaiderRockstar

why does Jerry keep saying “later this month” in his article? does October run later than the 31st ?? what an incompetent POS clown

  • Papertiger

What are you, the Calendar Police?

Does that come with a promotion from Hall Monitor?

  • http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Johnnie_Lee_Higgins RaiderRockstar

I don’t understand what you’re trying to say. lame attempt at humor, perhaps?

  • R8drTahoe in SF

This is excellent news. The Raiders could be getting healthy at just the right moment. It seems to me that there’s always a team where injuries hamper them during the first half of the season, then they get healthy and go on a run in the second half… It would be nice to see the Raiders on a string of winning games!

  • http://thebadtenants.com/ eternal pessimist

Seriously though. it’s probably something the staff says and he just reports it. think of it in a 30 day cycle from this point. you’re buggin on little details.
