Allen does admirable job keeping tabs on locker room culture

ALAMEDA – Raiders coach Dennis Allen has been vigilant about the culture of his team’s locker room since he arrived here almost two years ago.
To that end, he said Monday, whatever takes place amongst his players, be it in the locker room, on the field, wherever, is his responsibility.
“We have a pretty good feel for the locker room,” Allen said, when asked how he keeps tabs on his players.” I have a pretty good feel for the guys we have in there. Obviously that’s something that you always want to keep a close eye on and keep monitored.”
The topic was broached in light of recent allegations leveled against Miami Dolphins guard Richie Incognito that he bullied and harassed teammate Jonathan Martin.
Martin took a leave of absence from the Dolphins last week reportedly as a result of the way Incognito treaded him in the past. The Dolphins on Sunday suspended Incognito while the matter is investigated.
“I don’t think we have any issues with that type of stuff on this football team,” Allen said.
Allen even banned the so-called hazing prevalent in NFL training camps, including the Raiders before he arrived before the start of the 2012 season.
“That was a point we tried to make in training camp of not really hazing the rookies because we need everybody,” Allen said. “If we’re going to get this culture the right way and if we’re going to win football games like we believe we’re capable of winning, we’re going to need everybody in that locker room.”
Allen frequently chats with key players and others as a means of taking the pulse of the locker room and making sure a situation such as the one alleged to have happened in Miami doesn’t arise here.
In the end, though, Allen said, it’s incumbent upon Allen to stay abreast of what’s going on with his team.
“Ultimately whatever happens with this football team, whether it be on the field, in the locker room, out in the community, …that’s my responsibility to police that and my responsibility to have a handle on that.”

Why? He thinks Pryor stinks too?

    Ur an idiot.

  • 2romes

Exactly, so if you don’t get pressure with four lets try to get pressure with 3?

  • rifflicks

lets hear it for the Dr Suess wannabee

  • Papertiger

We need those super-towels that the Chargers used last year!

  • plunkhead

Dr Suess wishes he could rap like that

  • 2romes

I don’t get this comment. Was Woodson at fault on this play or not making Ross play better?

  • rifflicks

    Dr Suess is dead

  • The Beeeeech Dawg

Seriously, Goober – take a dump before all that stress explodes your nadsack

  • SnBG

This was a good lesson for the D. They came into this game cocky and had it handed to them.

  • SnBG

    Both.

  • Papertiger

    10 and then?

  • Heck Legler

Bring extra defenders is risky, but we were getting shredded anyway, so why not try to rattle Foles, who doesn’t have a ton of experience? No guarantee it would have worked, but couldn’t have been much worse…

  • Heck Legler

Not sure if this is a dis or a compliment: everything you post sounds like you are reading it from the wall above a urinal.

  • 2romes

Well the Raiders are going to play an up tempo team, I think you can call Denver up tempo. CLUE, so let’s take an extra day off. That should get them Ready.

Yesterday’s loss exposed the team in several wats and it can’t be overlooked.

Our defense, while being solid against the run, can be lit up against a no huddle, fast paced, spread attack.

Why? Hayden is young and we miss branch. Plus no real consistent pressure. 15 different guys getting a sack or two means its scheme-based, and not coming from any sort of player dominance.

But we have also seen a disturbing lack of adjustment by tarver/DA, leading us to watch what appears to be the same thing happening over and over.

On the offense, Pryor simply has zero nfl-level passing ability. It’s impossible to run a calculated scripted offense. Basically, we are only allowed to have Pryor “wing it” on every play, and hope his athleticism

  • The Beeeeech Dawg

The urinal at CAPITAL RECORDS (aww hellz yeah)

  • Heck Legler

He’s looked pretty good for how little preseason and practice he’s gotten. Question is whether he’s going to be a thick Chaz Schillens… Excellent for six plays a season, injured the rest…

  • Papertiger

It’s written on the inside of the bathroom stall where he takes the ladies for a quick stickin’

  • the animal dr robert

Somehow gets it done. But clearly, by our last place ranking as a pass offense and his lowly 72 rating shows, he’s no Peyton. We can’t just “put it in his hands”.

This team is not good. There are some parts and there have been gains, but it’s gonna be a rough 2nd half.

Woodson should have covered the outside deep route with a loose receiver coming right up the middle?

My momma used to tell me, “Boy EVERYBODY cain’t be CRAZY” Flynn cut again?? http://www.cbssports.com/nfl/eye-on-football/24186540/bills-release-qb-matt-flynn

  • SnBG

Kelly’s offense shredded Oakland through the air on its first drive, then pounded the Raiders into the turf with the running game on the second series. From that point on, it was anything goes for the Eagles. Both those things took the blitz away

  • Turkey Leg

Bills have to be the dumbest team in NFL America for letting Flynn go.

  • the animal dr robert

I played u fool. U immediately said I better leave u alone cuz u knew karate.

Flynn never got his chance to beat the Chiefs yesterday.

But you joke around sometimes so not sure if your serious.

Here’s the only positive I can take away from yesterday….DA and Reggie have been preaching about changing the culture, etc…well, the next few weeks will be a real test to how well they ARE changing the culture…if the Raiders start a slide like last season, then FAIL

  • Que

remember both coaches are very young to the game. tarver hasn’t been head of defense anywhere. he was co defensive at stanford. young
