Pryor at practice, McFadden sidelined

The Raiders injury situation is a mixed bag in terms of who was able to practice Wednesday. Most important for the Raiders, quarterback Terrelle Pyror is on the field and showing no lingering effects from the right knee injury he suffered against the Philadelphia Eagles on Sunday.
Running back Darren McFadden, wide receiver Juron Criner, offensive tackle Matt McCants and linebacker Kaluka Maiava are hurt badly enough to where they aren’t cleared to practice.
McFadden isn’t even on the field watching, whereas Criner, McCants and Maiava are present. Criner’s right shoulder is in a sling as a result of the injury he received in the Eagles game.
On the bright side, wide receiver Rod Streater and kicker Sebastian Janikowski are at practice and doing everything asked of them, at least in the early portion of practice, which bodes well for their playing Sunday against the New York Giants.
Also, receiver Andre Holmes is back on the field and healed enough to give his injured hamstring injury a test drive. He tweaked his hamstring in practice last week and wasn’t able to play against the Eagles.
Finally, backup offensive lineman Andre Gurode is on the practice field after missing significant time since he injured a quadriceps last month.

– Right offensive tackle Tony Pashos still hasn’t been cleared to practice. Therefore, it appears as if rookie Menelik Watson is in line to make his first NFL start Sunday, given Pashos and backup McCants aren’t even healthy enough to practice yet.
Watson replaced McCants early in the Eagles game and fared well in his first action in a regular-season game. He missed most of training camp with a calf injury and most of the first half of the regular season with knee and calf injuries.

– The Raiders worked out defensive ends Chris McCoy and Jermaine Cunningham and defensive tackles Frank Kearse and Will Tukuafu on Tuesday.
Cunningham and Tukuafu spent time with the 49ers this season. None of the four was signed by the Raiders. The fact they worked out all defensive linemen shows that there’s concern about the lack of pressure and depth at both positions.

    Yo!

  • Goldie7

    Thanks Cork! Good looking out!

  • J Hill

    JFB,

I think you may be right on the whole parent-lawyer angle from the Martins.

    Checked into a hospital??????

  • Just Fire Baby

Prepping a major lawsuit. Stephen Ross, Fins owner, one of the richest people in the US, BTW.

  • DJ Johnny

    Tukuafu? Well, Tukuafu you too.

  • Nick Gancayco

Too bad about criner. I think he’s the type of receiver who would be willin and able to go up and fight a DB to bring down a 50/50 ball.

  • Just Fire Baby

The thing I side with Martin though, is this kid is from prep schools and Stanford. No thug experience.
The whole Aaron Hernandez thing probably spooks some NFL players with Martin’s background. Gangsters and killing people.
Like if Martin would have just chin-checked Ritchie it would have just gone away.
Would you trust that with that overgrown ape (Incognito)? I would bet he would like follow him home and try to kill him honestly.

Yeah. Threatening to kill someone is going beyond the norm’s of accepted hazing imo.

  • Just Fire Baby

It wasn’t even at work!!! It was in April (offseason) that he left the message. I doubt he relented much going into the season.
He wasn’t even a rookie anymore. WTF???

  • rifflicks

So they gave Pryor the HOOK last Sunday and put in McGoin and called it a Knee Injury.

  • RaidingTexas

Hate to say it, but Dmac being out is a good thing. Oh wait, I don’t actually hate saying that. They’re better without him.

  • Jim Jesus

Roid rage and azzhole personalities don’t mix.

  • disqus_yeZNegncsV

Martin has said that after playing football, he’d like to be a defense attorney. Oh, my. If he thinks NFL football is rough and tumble, he’s in for a huge shock if he should enter trial combat. He sounds as if he’s more suited to academia.

  • aig-raiders

been following this thing and it is starting to come out as a Code Red thing from a Few Good Men. It stinks from he top down. There will be blood from this mess.

  • Sir Raider Duck, OMS

No, he tweaked his knee and was held out as a precaution. Why are there so many conspiracy nuts on this board?

  • rifflicks

that’s why Pryor walked out of the locker room Sunday without a limp

  • Just Fire Baby

I think some of these “unnamed” players in support of Ritchie are CYA’ing it, because they were in on it a little as well, even maybe just as enablers.
Make Ritchie not look so bad, and Martin overreacting, to make THEMSELVES not look so bad.

  • disqus_yeZNegncsV

It has always sounded like a set-up of sorts–Harvard parents, thinking they can turn NFL football into another unicorn and fairy dust issue for progressives, and what better way to start than with a claim their son was bullied in the manliest of sports, NFL football. (Well, the NHL would argue that , I suppose.)

  • Sir Raider Duck, OMS

Ever tweak your knee or get a charlie horse, but it feels fine an hour or two later? Same thing. He said his knee hurt, and DA decided to be careful and hold him out of a game that was no longer competitive anyway.

  • disqus_yeZNegncsV

He said he twisted it. BTW, would you want to keep your starting qb in the game when the game was hopelessly lost and when it wouldn’t hurt for your back up to get some reps?

  • rifflicks

no… I would have yanked his pathetic butt out at halftime

  • RediaR

The single most annoying thing to me about this fan base.

  • rifflicks

    morons like you??

  • DJ Johnny

    What up Dawg?

  • rifflicks

    desperate for more attention?

  • Just Fire Baby

I don’t condone the sissification of America, but this is not one of those cases IMO.
Incognito extorted money from him, called him racial names, and left menacing messages on his VM after work hours.
And Rithchie is a massively intimidating and violent guy. Punching him in the mouth would not have made things better for Martin.
It just wouldn’t of. Incognito would have probably tried to kill him. Seriously.

  • RediaR

Good one. Maybe Beech will hire you to his writing staff.

  • Just Fire Baby

Yup, especially the ones who complain about the refs every week.

  • rifflicks

I’d feel terrible robbing you of that opportunity

  • RediaR

Exactly. I am 100% on the side of Martin.

  • The Beeeeech Dawg

Brah, you wouldn’t be such a major zero if you trimmed your pubes and listened to some reggae

    Just keepin’ it real

  • rifflicks

    Yeah, real phoney and stupid

  • rifflicks

have you even reached puberty yet

  • RediaR

    Well yeah. He’s not good.

  • R8erEduc8er

    You can’t be 40-something. Can’t! Lol

Heard Tiki Barber speak on the issue last night. (the interviewer played that video of Incognito, bare chested, yelling and screaming in the pool room.) He said that people simply don’t understand the NFL locker room and that there’s much more to this than the public has been told. I can’t recall his exact words, but the gist of it was that Barber was on Incognito’s side, saying his stuff was harmless and that if anything, Barber just overdid some things out of insecurity. I suspect that what Barber meant by “things you don’t know” is what we now know, news that broke last night, that a couple of coaches had given the responsibility of toughening up Martin to Incognito.

  • The Beeeeech Dawg

Uh, yeah, the Dawg has a full patch of beautiful pubes

  • disqus_yeZNegncsV

Barber said that stuff was joking around and that the “n” word was an accepted word among players of all races.

  • Just Fire Baby

I saw him on O’Reilly last night too. He did not, in that interview at least, whatsoever say it was harmless.
Just said that Incognito is a tough guy, and teams need tough guys and that more teams would rather have Ritchie than Martin.

  • the angry dr robert

Methinks thou dost protest too much.

  • rifflicks

I was partying before you were a cumstain on your mama’s sheets
    now that’s keepin it real

  • disqus_yeZNegncsV

Look I don’t like what I have read, but I am not at all sure that “extortion” is what was going down.
I became suspicious of Martin when I realized there were any number of other paths he could have taken instead of running home to mommy and daddy and being in a hospital for mental health issues.
Does that make sense to you, on the face of it? Huh? Mental issues? Why didn’t he just hire a lawyer way back when, a guy who would have gone to management and said, “I’ll make this public if you don’t get Incognito to lay off? Or, have his attorney see Roger Goodell, who could have handled things behind the scenes as well.
Maybe what we have here is a guy who really isn’t well-balanced enough to handle even a “regular” NFL locker room, even a room w/out the likes of Incognito. I read an article about comments made by Coach Shaw of Stanford and some other Stanford alumni. They were all supportive of Martin, of course, but there were a few comments that made me think that something with Martin wasn’t right even at Stanford.

  • disqus_yeZNegncsV

I don’t think we’re likely to know the mental health issues of Martin predating his signing with the Dolphins.

  • Just Fire Baby

You have to go to the Doctor first if you are going to sue. What you are saying he should do is extort/blackmail the organization.
That is no way to win a lawsuit.

  • R8erEduc8er

    Jennings > Dmac

  • disqus_yeZNegncsV

Using your legal recourse is not extortion. Only if you threatened to say things publically that were untrue would it be blackmail.

  • Just Fire Baby

Threatening to sue is not what lawyers do. They prep to sue, and then nail you with it.

  • R8erEduc8er

    Guilty as charged

  • rifflicks

Oh I’m crushed by your rapier wit

shouldn’t you be decorating a float for the rainbow parade?
